Re: This Diablo III Limited Edition Switch Console Hits Stores Next Month

@LuciferOnReddit not a boring design, the demon on the left is the same one on the health globe and the angel on the right is the one on the mana globe, the globes are popular elements of the franchise's UI. the problem with this is they should have had a dark red joycon on the left and a dark blue on the right to match it.

Re: New Study Suggests That Playing Violent Video Games Leads To Increased Physical Aggression

@Emperor-Palpsy well said and this applies to any mature content whether it is in books, movies or games, it’s just that a lot of kids would rather play a game than read a book and games hook kids so they do the activity for longer than reading a book or watching a movie. I don’t see how people don’t think there is any issue with it. I think mature games are meant for adults. I remember as a kid I played and watched and read anything I wanted and I can admit my imagination was more violent and dark, things I drew were gruesome, I think people don’t want to admit that but that was definitely because I would be consuming this kind of stuff. Did it mean I would be violent? Not at all, but there was definitely a difficulty in doing things I didn't want to but should be, does it mean we should get rid of it? No, I enjoyed it as a kid but it should have been more regulated or limited in time. Nowadays I dont take a lot of that stuff as seriously, but kids think all this stuff is such a big deal.

Its not nonsense but it is not limited to games. Anything that expands the imagination into violence will promote violent thoughts and behavior. It is way more likely to affect children because they are just discovering their imagination and their feelings are strongly attached to that and they can imagine themselves in those situations, while most adults understand the clear difference between reality and imagination and know don't associate themselves with it. Does it mean the kids are going to be violent? Not really but they may get frustrated more easily.

Re: Soapbox: Why Do We Want More Games When We've Already Got Too Many?

brutalpanda

You know what is a different kind of fun I’ve forgotten about? 100%-ing games. I’m now going back to games I played/beat and seeing if there are things left to do or if I can get something new out of another play through. People blast achievements and trophies but they add a lot of replay value and getting some achievements is just so ridiculous that it is maddening fun, like trying to boost in a multiplayer mode nobody plays, beating something under a certain time or without dying. It’s what we did as kids but now we think we got everything out of a game because we played it or beat it, not true. Also this year I only buy one new game a month (New Years resolution) and I enjoy it until next month, it’s been working out well and I really get to sink into a game and enjoy it, I haven’t regretted any purchases yet even though I bought some unpopular games.

Re: Publishers Are Refusing To Sign Velocity 2X Sequel, Dev Asks For Switch Players' Support

@NewAdvent it's tough being indie and frustrating when you're making good games but nobody wants in. can't judge indie the same way as you judge a gigantic publisher. if they are asking for help, it's different than if it was a huge corp. obviously they are in trouble and don't want to stop doing what they love and are good at. sometimes when you are in desperate times you may sound desperate but that has nothing to do with the ability to deliver.

Re: Did Luigi's 'Death' In Smash Bros. Ultimate Secretly Hint At A New Single-Player Campaign?

brutalpanda

I think people are over thinking. The trailer was a reveal for Castlevania which included Death from the game. The reason it was Luigi was because his own game series is set in haunted mansions so it's the best character to have in a crossover trailer. It was an excellent trailer for a character reveal. Start with what audience knows (Luigi). He's in a haunted house. Death attacks him (woah, shock moment). Castlevania character reveal (wow moment). Richter reveal (cherry on top).

Re: The US Trader Who Bet $400 Million Against Nintendo Takes Huge Hit As Stock Price Soars

@Jawessome yeah but that greed goes both ways, just as he said himself in his first post, he's greedy too. if you don't want to feed the ultra-rich directly and be poisoned every day, you don't have to. go to the local farmer's market and buy organic groceries, wash them when you get home. go to local clothing shop, etc. to say they are too expensive while being able to upkeep a video game hobby is being greedy too. that's why i fell out of that "hate the rich" mindset. they are rich because of people who want to buy quality products for less money and more of them. we have a choice and if we don't want to be part of the grid then we can find a small shack on a piece of land, grow our own vegetables and food, etc. people don't need electricity even, much less a Switch. but most people like the OP don't give up on those things because they are greedy just as much. he wants the easy food and necessities for less money so he can buy his entertainment and he's willing to give his money to a rich man to get it then acts like he has no choice. it's delusional. he does the exact same things as that rich guy he's complaining about but on a smaller scale, nevertheless his functionality is exactly the same or even more greedy because there are a lot of rich people who are humble with their money and don't act carelessly to it.

Re: Random: Captain Toad On Switch Features A Very Out Of Place Wii U Animation

MARIO Tennis now this with consoles cracking and more to come. Nintendo has been sloppy and you can say no big deal but that is not Nintendo quality and why we love Nintendo in the first place. Don’t forget the terrible frame rates of BOTW sometimes dropping to 0. Seems like they too are going to rely on internet to deliver a final product whereas they used to deliver complete games at release prior to the Switch.
