The pass is definitely not worth $20 with this being half the content. It's a lousy 8 challenges on the same maps you already played on. I hope the next pack has much more.
@Hrimfaksi not only does it have a great campaign but it comes with all the dlc and multiplayer. It will be the first mature shooter for the Switch and its a big AAA title from other consoles. Also its got some nostalgic effect for Nintendo fans because Doom was pretty big on N64
@Heavyarms55 how do you figure they are releasing less games? It seems as big a year as any for 3ds. Ever Oasis, Miitopia, Hey Pikmin, Mario Top 100, Metroid Samus Returns, Pokemon US/UM, Kirby Battle Royale, fire emblem echoes, fire emblem warriors, Mario superstars, poochy and yoshis woolly world, bye bye boxboy, Mario and Luigi superstar saga, yokai watch 2
@Slug_Geek_Ire true fans saved up money to get the switch and support the company after Wii u was a commercial failure, knowing how important that first year is for them. They gave us all of 2016 to save up so no reason a "true fan" shouldn't have a Switch by the time the online service rolls around.
Brilliant idea but needs more oomph in the specs, especially for that price. If Nintendo did this right by themselves, I'm sure there would be a nice niche market for it.
@Azooooz What is bad about letting people use accessories they already have? As long as it's not emphasized much like on Wii U and done in the background I think it's great.
I love the 3D option. So nice to have had it available, especially when watching cinematics like in the Fire Emblem games. It looks great and gives some not great looking games like the Mii games a new dimension. I hope the 3ds successor is just 3ds 2, with wii-wii u graphics. I was saying they should focus on the Switch until I spent this first year with one. Its nice but its better to be able to put a device in your pocket. Also, games like Mario + Rabbids has tiny text that can force people to squint since they don't resize the UI if undocked. The 3ds had to make text a little larger because of the low res and tiny screen because otherwise it would be impossible to read.
@oatmealwarrior92 no way, I got switch and 3ds and want to see 3ds have another 2 years in it. One of the best gaming devices ever. A lot of people would rather have them continue supporting a system they already have instead of having to buy another $200+ portable with possibly no backwards compatibility. Its also better for Nintendo as they are making more money off game sales on hardware that is owned by so many versus a brand new product.
I loved playing Breath of the Wild on Switch but it has proven too cumbersome to carry around when compared to the New 3DS. I am hoping they don't do a Switch mini (without joycons and ability to play on big screen) since the text will be too small to read in some games (Mario + Rabbids). I hope they continue the Dual Screen portable trend they started with graphics between Wii and Wii U. They can use some of the dual-screen Wii U games for it already.
@Orangezap89 The Switch is so much better for their business, they are starting to send out propaganda that 3DS is dying to try to get more people to buy the Switch. Meanwhile it's been a great year for 3DS so far.
Not really true, just more games than Nintendo fanboys are used to. Also, every great indie is trying to come out on Switch in the first year so it will slow down after most of them have.
I got the game day one and it's fun for the first two worlds but then gets really boring by world 3. It gets grindy and repetitive, although the final boss in world 3 is one of the best bosses I played in a long time.
@BensonUii I think since the artbook is 200 pages with soundtrack and steelbook, then those are worth $40 put together. Although I will be getting 20% off from Best Buy.
He's just mad that they took the time building it for Wii u and didn't get too many sales. That has nothing to do with the Switch. Also, Iwata was already working on the Switch before his death so he was helping set this whole thing up which so far is successful. These guys will probably never work with Nintendo again. Shame cause I like odd world games.
@Lysis beat the short games first, dont play more than 1 longer game (20+ hours) at a time, can play 1-2 non-story games while playing a long game (fast rmx, etc.). Beat 2-3 games before buying a new one unless you are ready to beat the new one. that's my technique and I think I beat more games this year than any other so far.
@PorllM Any online game that requires teamwork, be it competitive like Super Smash Bros, Splatoon or Arms, or any game that is co-op are way more fun with some kind of communication.
@RedMageLanakyn I'm in the same boat where I have all the consoles but can't play too much. That is actually where the Switch works best because you don't have to be tied to one spot when getting through a game.
@SLIGEACH_EIRE and its still a success so far! Goes to show that those things don't really matter compared to good old fun and games. Although many of those points will make their way to the device sooner or later.
@Bengals76 hehe, cmon man, you really calling me a fanboy because Im disagreeing with you? im not saying the system doesn't have room to grow. It only has been out 3 months. look at how much Xbox One has grown and evolved since launch. i just realize it's a handheld device too. what you're saying is like saying the ipad or iphone has to be able to play 4K 60fps and hold 1TB of space because my PC can do that for the same price. it needs apps and vc but those will come. you said it was unready for launch, I disagree and I think majority of the owners are enjoying it because we got it for the games that are now out. New electronic product launches are for early adopters who know what they are getting into. Nothing will be perfect on launch. That's why I bought the $50 2-year protection plan at BB with it. You bought it around then knowing all of the issues that you have with it now, why don't you just sell it if you are unhappy with it? Im sure you can probably get almost the same amount of money for it. You could have also waited until all your issues are fixed, until it got VC and more apps, until price went down for the console and accessories. You have options.
@PlywoodStick I think by 2 years, they won't need to say that anymore. I think it will have a large userbase by that point and that will do all the talking. I don't think they should or will come out with another console that is only for home use. I do think they will release a smaller and truer handheld system because there is a market for that still, as we see with 3DS, maybe a Switch Go that is only portable. They can sell those for $150-$200 and the premium will be the Switch. Similar to Ps4 Pro and Xbox One X.
@Bengals76 idk man, you're going on a rant. it doesn't even sound like you have a Switch because you are complaining about everything. why would you even buy it then? everything you have a problem with was known prior to the release. if you think it has to go up to 500gb and has to match PS4 + Xbox One graphically, then it's pointless to discuss it with you.
@SLIGEACH_EIRE I'm just curious. Do you have a Switch? I see you only say negative things about it on this site. I feel it's the first Nintendo console that offers the best package since Gamecube. 3DS is nice, but not nearly as comfortable or versatile. It's also the first Nintendo console I see non-Nintendo gamers happily embrace. There must be good reasons for that. I haven't had any issues with battery life like you say and I played 140+ hours of Breath of the Wild, a lot of it in handheld mode. It's pretty easy to carry a USB-C cord around to charge it. Joy-con price is really not a big deal because you would only get another pair if you are planning to have 4 people playing, so if it takes care of two players, then $80 is justified. If you don't have more than 3 people playing, you'll never need more joy-cons. My extra set has been laying around, unused and I wish I didn't get them. You can opt for the Pro controller instead, this way you have a setup that gives you versatility and lets you take care of 3 players for $70 more than the console price. Is space really a problem when SD cards cost $45 for 128gb? You don't need to hold your entire library on it, just the games you play. Your saves will still be there if you want to redownload a game. It seems most of the negatives you have to say about it are just personal pet peeves.
very, very nice. They really are at work, optimizing to the tee. They did the same thing with Breath of the Wild, releasing quick fixes for the fps drops. Nintendo is really aware of what gamers want this year and are taking graphics more seriously and is putting their resources into great details like this.
