@RPGamer I’m not personally offended by it myself. I believe the problem lies more with the fact that they represent indigenous people more than the dreads themselves. That old “ooga booga” stereotype associated with minorities.

@Kalmaro All of what? Maybe it was an overreaction on the developer’s part but it was their choice.

@Alaninho I don’t think the issue has to do with the idea people are dumb and therefore can’t tell fact from fiction. I believe it’s more that the thought is so ingrained in society that it doesn’t help when our entertainment media reinforces it. Entertainment isn’t going to turn people into racists psychopaths or anything but it could still encourage a negative thought process.

There are always thoughts I see around the internet that’s like “since so much violence takes place in black neighborhoods therefore all black people are violent”. It may not always seem that way but consciously or not, that message is often sent.

To be fair I don’t think this actually caused much outrage. It seems mostly one guy. It was enough to make the dev realize maybe this isn’t right instead of forcing his hand through “political correctness”.

@Alaninho I’m not offended at all. If this game is good I’d buy it regardless. I just look at big picture. Just because I’m not personally offended doesn’t mean it’s not offensive. Certain things need to change so future generations look at all of us in the same light. Black people can be portrayed as villains just as anyone else can. People should just be more aware of the message they may be sending subconsciously.

@Alaninho Would make sense if they were only black villains. These are indigenous stereotypes, a long standing stereotype used in media to push the white savior trope. It’s always been rather lazy actually. In order to make the main character the hero, the rest have to be unintelligible savages.

I think Lizardcube would be the PERFECT choice for a Comix Zone revival. The art is already similar enough.

The latency typically makes this sort of experience impossible. Everyone’s screen always shows a different result.

Now that I’ve watched the trailer, it doesn’t look like it plays to Wayfoward’s strength which is strong pixel art and 2D animation. My optimism has been mostly diminished.

I can’t stand sexualized fan service. It’s not even a political thing. Unless it’s befitting to the character what’s the point? The worst part is a lot of games want us to take them seriously but shows us multiple angles of giant boobs. How can I not laugh my ass off at that point?

Maybe it’s legit, but it’s funnier to think that the beta turned out so bad that they delayed it and said, “Uh, it’s the Corona, can you believe it?”

@UncleJungle It would be really expensive for a small studio. The only one coming to mind right now is Moon Chronicles and that company only does 2D games now.
