The Switch has an impressive range of shoot 'em ups, and we're still getting regular new releases to check out. One lower profile entry that arrived recently on the eShop is Andro Dunos 2, but if you're a fan of the genre you shouldn't sleep on it. We gave this one a hearty recommendation in our recent review.
If you're a physical collector, though, you're in luck. Publisher VGNYsoft is carrying the baton in this case for developer PixelHeart. Pre-orders are now open for Q2 shipping of physical editions for both Switch and 3DS, as this is a title that is also on Nintendo's last-gen portable (and it supports stereoscropic 3D!).
The ordering process is a bit different, though - VGNYsoft only distributes in the US, so its Canadian partner videogamesplus.ca is responsible for International orders. US orders of the Switch version will also get a flier and sticker included.
Below are the Switch and 3DS links for US and International orders.
Andro Dunos 2 (US)
- Nintendo Switch edition - $39.99USD
- Nintendo 3DS edition - $39.99USD
Andro Dunos 2 (International)
- Nintendo Switch edition - $49.99CAD
- Nintendo 3DS edition - $49.99CAD
Are you tempted to pick up either of these physical editions?

This game is top drawer. I love it. It's rare an early 90's inspired game nails the authenticity as much as this one does. It's genuinely like a lost classic.
I'm hesitant, 3DS version would be nice to have, but Switch's screen spoiled me long ago, and it's much cheaper.
I wonder why the 3DS version isn't on Amazon, it would be cheaper and there are other Pixelheart games there...
I’m hoping my EU 3DS copy comes soon. I ordered it direct from Pixel Heart a year ago.
@GravyThief
Yeah, I'm also waiting on an order from quite literally last year (March 27th).
In my experience with Pixel Heart, they don't send notification emails when your order ships, so you may need to keep an eye on your order manually.
The Switch version is due to release April 1st, and the 3DS version is apparently already in-stock, so I'm expecting my order should ship very soon.
@RupeeClock ha, my order was on exactly the same day! My order says ‘In Preparation’, which I think is different to what it said originally so hopefully that’s some progress. Not had issues with them before so I’m sure it will be fine, I’m just keen to get my hands on the game. Also I’m a bit nervous about import duty, it will be my first order from abroad since Brexit.
@GravyThief
Since Pixel Heart are based in France, I doubt there'll be much trouble.
Though they might be eating some costs on shipping based on when we placed our orders, and the actual fulfillment.
Preordered the 3ds one a while back
Is that you Axelay?!?
Preordered months ago, gutted it's for download now. Just have to wait for physical release to launch, its agony!!
Oh wow, when I preordered the 3DS version forever ago I honestly didn’t know it would be so highly acclaimed. Awesome! I’m almost tempted to keep it sealed and grab the switch version to play. Almost.
I just placed my pre-order with VGP yesterday. Excited.
Currently waiting on Pixelheart to send out both the 3DS and Switch versions.
It is nice to see the physical 3DS end on a solid release.
@OorWullie it’s basically a reskin of their previous game Infinos Gaiden. Unfortunately, it’s a PC/Steam exclusive but it is highly recommended.
@X68000 It has more in common with Infinos than the original Andro Dunos, but a “reskin” makes it sound like it’s the same game. It’s not though.
@Tom-Massey Fair point, however it does share assets with the aforementioned game and is unmistakably a Picorinne Soft title which is no bad thing. In fairness, the original Andro Dunos was a poor shooter on the Neo Geo and PS are a great team (I think they’re brothers) to breathe new life into the sequel.
I really hope this succeeds and they can push to release Infinos GAIDEN / EXA on the Switch.
I wish for one or two more 3ds games from pixelheart but unfortunately andro dunos 2 will be the last one as the factories have been closed. Thank god the game is awesome, uses stereoscopic 3d and is a great swansong for the legendary 3ds!!
@X68000 I’ve spoken to the developer about an Infinos port and he says it’s unlikely to happen. They’re brothers, yes, Ryo and Satto - I’ve added all this info in the recent review.
I did note (in the review) that it’s essentially nothing to do with the original Andro Dunos and more a Trojan horse IP to get wider recognition. So I know where you’re coming from. Either way, it’s superb fun, and a really great effort from such a small indie dev.
Pre-ordered on pixel heart for 3ds on Mar 28 2021, the wait is killing me.
I just ordered this for the 3DS today! The reviews all look great and I’m curious to see how the 3D works. And I know it’s cheaper on Switch, but I appreciate that this is is likely the “last” (or close to it) physical 3DS game I’ll ever buy. I’m glad they did this and I hope it’s worth it.
Still haven’t gotten the copy I preordered.
16:9 mode added. The pixels are chunky enough to take it without looking stretched. Win.
