Crowdfunded 2015 film Kung Fury is the kind of film that's ripe for a Streets of Rage-style video game. And that's exactly what it got — albeit our friends over at Push Square weren't particularly keen on it when they reviewed it. Lacking in content at launch, other than letting you punch Nazis it was apparently a disappointment. A few huge updates came in the years that followed, though, and now Switch owners will get all of that juicy content in one fist-sized bundle.
Hello There Games has announced that they're bringing Kung Fury: Street Rage - Ultimate Edition to the system this summer. This release contains both The Arcade Strikes Back and A Day at the Beach expansions, which means you can play as David Hasselhoff right from the get-go!
This is the kind of game that relishes in the silliness and the excess of '80s action movies, just like, well, the film, funnily enough!
Here's everything you can expect with this complete release:
5 playable characters with unique playstyles:
-Kung Fury
-David Hasselhoff and his impressive chest hair!
-Hackerman
-Barbarianna
-Triceracop
Team up in the brand new Multiplayer Game Mode:
– 2-Player Co-op
– Free movement side-scrolling Beat ‘Em Up
– Button-Mashing Madness!
– Every hero has an ultimate power
– New epic story campaign
Obviously, we're all excited to play as The Hoff, but Triceracop? C'mon. That's just amazing. There's a sequel film coming out sometime this year, so there's no better time to check this game out than when it releases.
Since it's out this summer, you could play Kung Fury: Street Rage - Ultimate Edition at the beach if you really wanted! We think it'd be perfect.
Let us know whether you've seen the film, or if you're excited to check out this adaptation, in the comments!

The movie is good fun and the original version of the game is addictive arcade action. This version seems to allow you to actually "walk" so the extra modes and added Hoff may make this worth picking up too!
Hoff in a beat em up, what’s not to love.
Ps. The Neo Geo game case was a nice touch.
The original was little more than a boring cash-in, but this version is really fun. Simple, but great. The music is outstanding.
Who needs the Hoff when you can play as Hackerman?

This is a game that I would rent in a heartbeat (yes kids, we used to rent videogames at a magical place called Blockbuster).
Best movie ever. More action there than most video games.
Feels like ages ago when this movie came out.
The sequel to Kung Fury is supposed to come out this year. The updates on Twitter have been lots of fun.
Don’t know if this is the same version as the PS4 but if it is it’s hands down one of the worst games I’ve ever had the misfortune of playing Streets of Rage this is not
@JeanPaul This would be the Perfect weekend rental.
Kung Fury was a lot of fun but its so weird to see it be a franchise in any way.
Time for Barbarianna’s music to get stuck in my head again.
I have this on steam and its amazing.
This was kind of fun on phones. You just stand there and bash left or right forever. The aesthetic is great and the gameplay got pretty tricky. Not too bad for free, but I doubt a more meaty "real game" version would hold my attention for long.
Now what would really rock on the Switch would be Vampire Survivors. A different take on "crowd control: the game".
Speaking of Kung fury. I'll just leave the awesome music video here for anyone who hasn't seen it. Always loved the Hoff since knight Rider!

I really liked Kung Fury when I saw it many years ago ^_^
I recommend ppl to watch the movie if they've never seen it. It's absolutely bonkers random in a scifi action adventure funny wtf way. Worth it 💯
Looks like fun to me. Will keep an eye.
This one is going on the wishlist, but I'll wait for the reviews to drop before deciding when/if to get it.
I actually REALLY liked this game when it dropped on PS4 years ago. I still play it from time to time even now. The fact that you can now walk instead of just hitting right or left is awesome. I may double dip and get this on Switch.
