Not really sure it's the first confirmed, but I'm backing it nonetheless. I really enjoyed the first two games and am looking forward to this one, albeit on PC.
I'm not a fan of AI art either, but frankly, I don't see the right Nintendo has to take it down. It's still fan art, it doesn't matter if AI made it or an artist. If the images aren't being sold, I don't see the right they have.
I think everyone's bloodlust over AI art is blinding them to how Nintendo could set a new precedent where a kid couldn't draw fan art of Mario and post it online without being sued.
And I don't think it's a fair argument that AI is fed official images of Mario, so thus it's copyright. Real artists also "learn from" the official images as it were, since you have eyes and look at the real stuff to then make your own take on it.
Again, I'm not for AI art, but Nintendo has been known to take a mile if given an inch when it comes to copyright issues. This could become an issue for real artists soon enough. (And it kinda already is, since some real fan art has already been hit.)
@Frailbay30 I didn't say it was my jam, the only one I played I said I didn't like. Honestly, I don't really care all that much one way or the other. Though, from the responses I've read online after this rumor I'd say a lot of people did view it positively.
But anyway, I don't want to nitpick over who did the most research on a review score for an almost twenty-year-old game. It was just meant as a causal statement.
@Frailbay30 Well, I guess that's subjective. I took a quick look back at the review for it on Nintendo Life and they seemed to be very positive about the Wii version in particular.
@Sabruka I think it mostly reviewed well. I never played the Wii version, but I wasn't all that into the DS outing. But I'm still interested to see if this is real.
I never really played this since the always online/microtransactions were a turn-off. So I'm pretty interested in giving this a go. I'm not sure how well it will hold up since I'm so used to playing NH, but I'll check it out.
As for an eventual new mainline game on Switch 2, I can't decide if this is a good or bad indicator of how soon it might be coming...
I picked this up on PC and play it exclusively with a controller. The controls for me are fine with no issues, so I don't know if the problems mentioned are Switch exclusive or just a matter of taste.
I'm thoroughly enjoying the game in bites of about 30 mins a days. Overall, my biggest issue was, as stated, things are very vague. I had to look up guides and videos and just experiment for a while before I found my stride as it were.
So overall, I still recommend the game to those interested, but it might be better to play it somewhere other than Switch (which is almost always the case...) if you can, as performance issues would be my biggest concern.
Also, the Dev has patched a lot of bugs already, but they might not have made it to Switch yet given Nintendo's slow approval process.
@Lofoten Well, in my case it's just a matter of not being a Mario or Zelda fan. I'm happy to see Prime 4 get its time to shine, but that's not really for me either. I wish Nintendo would give more love to other IPs besides Mario and Zelda.
Why did they drop Animal Crossing, when it was their second best-selling game? They couldn't even toss us a paid DLC item pack? What about at least an HD remaster of Star Fox 64? F-Zero? More than drip feed NSO? Why couldn't DK get at least 1 new game?
I'm not throwing shade on the direct as a whole, I can see why so many people are happy. But Nintendo has really neglected some of their IPs during the Switch gen. This was just more of that IMO.
@MH4 I kind of see where you're coming from in terms of chasing buzz words, that bothers me too. I just hate that lately every time anything farming/life sim is mentioned it gets labeled as chasing the trend Stardew supposedly started or something.
I love the genre for itself, and it has its roots in the dawn of gaming just like other genres. But it seems to get a constant stream of complaints against it by a lot of gamers in spite of starting way back on the SNES.
Yeah, I'll probably get it on day one since I love the original two, but I honestly wish this was multi-plat or for PC. It looks okay enough on Switch, but a game like this would really shine with nicer hardware behind it.
@Vyacheslav333 It's not multiplayer only. I have like 300 hrs in it entirely solo. Also it has an actual story that you beat, it's not an infinite F2P multiplayer sorta thing.
IMO the prices are too high, but I don't understand why anyone is shocked. A free game can't stay free and keep getting updates unless there's a cash flow coming from somewhere.
They're neat games, but I really recommend playing them on Steam Deck if you want a better handheld experience. Playing it on Switch seems like a last resort.
I don't like Palwolrd and the crude approach they took with how you can treat your pals. But I also can't stand Gamefreak for apparently being too cheap to hire the needed staff to make an actually good game.
Then there's Nintendo probably ready to sue people even named Mario. lol
No really, I get the mechanics are aged, but it still holds up for me. Not only due to the nostalgia factor but because I enjoy the simplicity and purity of the genre. Would I want all modern farm sims to emulate it, no, but I enjoy the vintage taste of this "soured milk" now and again.
Sorry, I have to strongly disagree on this one. I play on PC and wouldn't opt for the Switch version due to performance. But Sandrock is my top pick in the entire farm sim genre, and I've been around playing them since the 90s.
I understand the performance issues on Switch, but to give this a 5 sounds like the reviewer doesn't like the genre in the first place. Just look at Steam, it sits at a Very Positive score with over 12,000 reviews.
As a big fan of AC and Lego I thought I couldn't go wrong here. But the sets look cluttered and messy to me. I get these aren't adult-focused sets, but even so, there are many other sets that are much more detailed and still aimed at children.
While I don't find the prices outrageous (given the Lego norm) it's still a bit of a miss for me. If I'm going to pay $75 bucks I would rather just have a more detailed Nook's Cranny instead of tossing in the other house and both being subpar detail.
I'm not sure how much say Nintendo had in the design process, or if Lego is to blame, but it seems foolish not to have at least one set aimed at adult collectors. Given both AC and Lego have a massive adult following.
I know it's an unpopular opinion, but personally, I'm a little weary of the constant scalper shame discussion. Should you be somebody using bots or doing anything illegal to beat out everyone else for your own gain? No, of course not.
But if you actually show up in person and manage to get something legitimately and sell it, then so what? The sad reality is we live in hard financial times where people often resort to far worse crimes than reselling an item they lawfully obtained.
@Truegamer79 I'll add, that many Star Wars fans regard the Thrawn EU book trilogy as the pinnacle of Star Wars. (Myself included.) He was a very interesting and well-written character in the books, who also acts as a sort of symbol of the best parts of the EU. So it's cool to see him in live-action now.
It reminds many fans of how amazing parts of the EU were before Disney bought Star Wars and ruined it as a whole...
I'm against piracy, but true pirates always find a way regardless of these measures. This is just going to further hurt paying customers like DRM always has.
I steer clear of games on Steam that use this and I'll do the same here. I don't care if they are first-party or third-party.
Yes, yes, I'm sure it's fake. But honestly, should the fact that it's ugly be used as a reason to prove it is? Has anyone seen the Wii U before? Nintendo has anything but a flawless track record.
If not for hearing this came from famiboards I'd be tempted to believe it just for the strange sliding joy con alone. To do something no one asked for is so Nintendo actually...
Oh, I don't know, maybe just make Legends 3 instead of wondering what possible new idea you could come up with? The fans have only been asking for it for over 20 years...
I don't know, I haven't played the full game yet, so I can't speak to how the narrative wraps up, but I thoroughly enjoyed the demo on PC. Both from a gameplay and narrative standpoint.
@ShinEon I watched quite a bit of someone steaming the Japanese version so I picked up a few things.
The crops are indeed the best way to make money now, and they have streamlined the planting and watering process where the animations aren't so slow and tedious. The cows give milk forever instead of just after giving birth. The goat can be bred, you can have more than one, and they too keep giving milk forever if my memory serves.
@Deviant-Dork I'm sorry, but don't you find it the least bit rude to tell a stranger who is sharing a happy part of their life, they need a therapist? Frankly, that's what I don't find to be good behavior.
Even if you don't agree with the way they went about their relationship did you really need to say this? How do you think the article writer feels after sharing something so important and personal and they get this response as the first comment?
@antisumo Okay, so I checked on the official Sandrock Steam forums and the Devs said the following: "We're porting it ourselves and we're very confident it'll be a much better port than the Portia version."
So hopefully it will work out better this time around. Time will tell, but I'm hopeful at least.
@antisumo From what I heard a third party worked on the port of Portia, and in light of how that went the devs are doing it themselves this time around.

Just to give my 2 cents...
I picked this up on PC and play it exclusively with a controller. The controls for me are fine with no issues, so I don't know if the problems mentioned are Switch exclusive or just a matter of taste.

Re: Review In Progress: The Garden Path (Switch) - A Green-Thumbed Ode To Animal Crossing That Needs Tending
I don't think I'd mind the slow pace. Games like this and Animal Crossing are meant to become a small part of your life for years.
Might get it on PC though, I'll have to see if it works on Steam Deck and then decide.

Re: Hands On: Can Lord Of The Rings Spice Up A Stale Genre With 'Tales Of The Shire'?
We could always use more innovation sure, but I wouldn't say the genre is stale. No more than platformers, metroidvanias, RPGS or the like.

I can see why so many people are hyped. But if you're into other Nintendo IPs apart from Zelda or Mario, there wasn't really a lot on offer.

@gojiguy Yeah, this is my entire thought too.
Re: Poll: So, Will You Be Getting Endless Ocean: Luminous?

Grounded is awesome, I just hope the performance is decent on Switch.
The Devs put in the work to optimize Grounded for Steam Deck and it runs really well there, so hopefully it will be an alright outing on Switch.
Re: 'Lake' Delivers Peaceful Narrative Postage On Switch Today

Re: Soapbox: "Go Outside, Get Some Fresh Air" - Why Won't Outmoded Gamer Stereotypes Die?
The way I see it, social media overconsumption should be considered a far worse current issue than video games ever were.

Re: Talking Point: Could Nintendo Go Another Year Without A Switch Successor?
Could they, yes. Should they is another question.
I don't have to have AAA graphics and 120 FPS, by any means to enjoy a game, but the Switch has pushed the hardware until it's screaming.
