Re: Nintendo Treehouse: Live Presentation Set For This Thursday

I'm glad to hear more about single-player. But why is Nintendo so all over the place with how they're revealing and marketing stuff now...?

A big general direct would have seemed so much more organized. I also don't get why more about single-player wasn't just in the Splatoon direct. But hey, I'll take it all the same.

Personally, I'd rather have less battery life to have a better performance-capable handheld. And as was mentioned about the Deck, your battery life really depends on the game you play.

To be honest, at this point I can't excuse the Tegra still being used for any reason. The fact that the switch struggles to run its own e-shop is sort of a breaking point for me...

I really wanted to like this game when I played it on PC, but something just wasn't there for me. Don't get me wrong, based on the Steam reviews there are plenty of people that did enjoy it, but the reception was sort of mixed.

The game had potential but was really pretty bland... Not a lot to do and a very directionless and slow start. Mostly a pretty but empty world... I assumed it would get better with more updates as it was still in early access, but seeing it have a full release this soon makes me doubt it.

IMO this probably isn't ready for a full release, I only got 4 hours into it and it left a lot to be desired. I have a lot of respect for indie devs, but this wasn't for me.

Re: Nintendo Sets Switch Trailers To Private, But It's "Most Likely Nothing"

I don't know if this means anything, but why are people so against believing a pro/new hardware of some sort, will happen? This is Nintendo we're talking about. Has everyone forgotten the endless versions of the 3ds/2ds already?

I know the supply shortage is a thing, but it didn't stop them from making the (nice, but) rather pointless OLED.

Re: Soapbox: Why Do We Talk About Games By Comparing Them To Other Games?

Wordbonder

I understand why this is done from a writing standpoint. I just get a little sick of hearing everything called Stardew-like because so many people seem to be of the opinion that makes whatever game is being talked about a cheap rip-off.

When just as you mentioned, Stardew is drawing heavily from Harvest Moon of old itself. I'm also tired of the idea that Stardew is the only farming sim you need. For me, those types of games are my favorite genre, so it's a little like someone saying you only need one Mario game for the rest of your life or something...

Just to add my two cents, I can agree with some that's said here. It's not the most compelling art piece, but I do think it can be considered art.

It's a pleasant enough hour to spend with nice music and visuals. And most anybody who has a bit of a difficult past with parents will get the basic message here, subtle though it is.

Having played it on Gamepass I didn't really have anything to regret about it. I still think it's worth a look if anyone was leaning toward it to begin with. It's rated very positively on Steam, it's just a game for a certain sort of person.

Re: Talking Point: How's Your Switch Holding Up After 5 Years?

Wordbonder

I got my first Switch in 2018, but I've replaced it a few times since. Replaced it with the lite as I only play in handheld, but got the red box model some time later to have a bigger screen. Now I have my eye on an OLED at some point.

Changing them out so often has kept me from having drift at least. lol

Re: The New ZenGrip Pro For Nintendo Switch OLED Might Be Worth A Look

@jrt87 That's your opinion. As someone who has watched him for years, I can say that some people enjoy his work and personality. He's donated a lot and brought much awareness to mental health issues due to his own battle with depression. I find him to be a very sincere person and I was happy to buy the grip.

And please don't say it's because I'm "younger." I'm not, I'm 30 and so old school I don't even own a cell phone.

Re: Talking Point: Remember When People Thought Switch Would Fail?

I like the Switch, of course, but that old chip is really starting to show its age. Even in some first-party titles, we're seeing lag and frame drops. For me, that's the biggest issue. Nintendo has the money to do better, they just aren't. The OLED is salt in the wound as far as I'm concerned.

Not to mention drift...
