I'm over the moon about the A Wonderful Life remake and of course Pikmin 4.
But I'm rather salty at the response I've seen all day. A lot of people were disappointed the leaks didn't come true and have been hating on farming sims because of it.
I play handheld only and mostly offline. I'm new to this so I don't know if it will only affect certain games, or if it'll be across the board. But if this turns into online checks and worst performance I may just ditch the Switch for good.
I'm glad to hear more about single-player. But why is Nintendo so all over the place with how they're revealing and marketing stuff now...?
A big general direct would have seemed so much more organized. I also don't get why more about single-player wasn't just in the Splatoon direct. But hey, I'll take it all the same.
@farrgazer Fair enough. But I don't think I have to explain that the Switch has major performance issues and that the current Tegra is quite old. We are long due for an upgrade. That's the only point I was making.
Personally, I'd rather have less battery life to have a better performance-capable handheld. And as was mentioned about the Deck, your battery life really depends on the game you play.
To be honest, at this point I can't excuse the Tegra still being used for any reason. The fact that the switch struggles to run its own e-shop is sort of a breaking point for me...
I really wanted to like this game when I played it on PC, but something just wasn't there for me. Don't get me wrong, based on the Steam reviews there are plenty of people that did enjoy it, but the reception was sort of mixed.
The game had potential but was really pretty bland... Not a lot to do and a very directionless and slow start. Mostly a pretty but empty world... I assumed it would get better with more updates as it was still in early access, but seeing it have a full release this soon makes me doubt it.
IMO this probably isn't ready for a full release, I only got 4 hours into it and it left a lot to be desired. I have a lot of respect for indie devs, but this wasn't for me.
Did I understand correctly that marriage isn't in the game?
I'm all for having deeper narratives but it seems a little strange to omit a basic marriage system after focusing so much on a romantic relationship. I think of it as being so fundamental to the life/farming sim genre.
I don't know if this means anything, but why are people so against believing a pro/new hardware of some sort, will happen? This is Nintendo we're talking about. Has everyone forgotten the endless versions of the 3ds/2ds already?
I know the supply shortage is a thing, but it didn't stop them from making the (nice, but) rather pointless OLED.
I understand why this is done from a writing standpoint. I just get a little sick of hearing everything called Stardew-like because so many people seem to be of the opinion that makes whatever game is being talked about a cheap rip-off.
When just as you mentioned, Stardew is drawing heavily from Harvest Moon of old itself. I'm also tired of the idea that Stardew is the only farming sim you need. For me, those types of games are my favorite genre, so it's a little like someone saying you only need one Mario game for the rest of your life or something...
@Screen I wouldn't say completely unfounded. They almost always have a June direct regardless of who leaks what. I think it's more of a given at this point, be it the 29th or even sometime in July.
Well, to be honest, I really liked the story and character depiction. Samus needed more depth and seeing her vulnerabilities just made her a more interesting human to me.
I'd just like to say, that behind all the talk of this publisher dealing with NFTs is a small indie Dev that needs support. I'm so tired of people saying they're taking the moral high ground at the expense of real people. Small artists trying to share their passion in a completely broken world.
Everyone can do what they want, but I'm picking this up.
Just to add my two cents, I can agree with some that's said here. It's not the most compelling art piece, but I do think it can be considered art.
It's a pleasant enough hour to spend with nice music and visuals. And most anybody who has a bit of a difficult past with parents will get the basic message here, subtle though it is.
Having played it on Gamepass I didn't really have anything to regret about it. I still think it's worth a look if anyone was leaning toward it to begin with. It's rated very positively on Steam, it's just a game for a certain sort of person.
I got my first Switch in 2018, but I've replaced it a few times since. Replaced it with the lite as I only play in handheld, but got the red box model some time later to have a bigger screen. Now I have my eye on an OLED at some point.
Changing them out so often has kept me from having drift at least. lol
I honestly liked the Miis back in the day, but I have to agree that they're pretty outdated looking. I really like the new avatar design in Switch Sports.
I just wish they'd make a new Tomodachi Life with those updated avatars. Though, heck, I'd take a Switch port of the original at this point...
@jrt87 That's your opinion. As someone who has watched him for years, I can say that some people enjoy his work and personality. He's donated a lot and brought much awareness to mental health issues due to his own battle with depression. I find him to be a very sincere person and I was happy to buy the grip.
And please don't say it's because I'm "younger." I'm not, I'm 30 and so old school I don't even own a cell phone.
I'm not big into design but I have my island about how I want it. Due to changing Switches before you could transfer your island, this island is already a redo, so I can't stomach it again.
I will, however, be redoing most of my house. That along with the DLC will keep me going for a while. I've already cleared a little farming space for the new crops.
I played on PC and found it a decent enough time. It also has a very positive review standing on Steam. Unless the switch port is broken somehow in terms of performance, I'd keep an open mind about this one if you thought you might like it.

Re: Review: Disney Dreamlight Valley - A Surprisingly Touching Take On The Life Sim Genre
Eh, I liked some of the Pixar stuff back in the day, but after what Disney has done to Star Wars, I'm sorta done with them...
Re: Animal Crossing With Plane Flying? This New Game Delivers A 'TaleSpin' Twist On The Life Sim Genre
I'm so old I got that Talespin reference...
Re: Random: Coral Switch Lite Was Inspired By Animal Crossing: New Horizons
I don't mind pink, but I ended up going with the GameCube colored lite. But whether that thing is blue or purple is a discussion for another day. lol

Re: Playing Games Probably Won't Make You Feel Worse... Or Better, Says New Oxford Uni Study
Are they really trying to say that the media we consume has no impact on how we feel? If that were true why would anyone consume media to begin with?

I'm kinda baffled by that decision, but anyway...

Re: Fall Guys And Pusheen Collab Brings Adorable Outfits To The Game This Week

I'd been hoping we'd get this. To get so close and then it be Japan only...? I'm pretty gutted honestly.
Re: Mini Review: The Ramp - Think Tony Hawk's Pro Skater On GBA, Minus The Grind(ing)

Black and White is my top choice.
Re: Review: Beyond Blue - Echoes Of Endless Ocean In This Noble Effort That Never Quite Gels
6 seems a bit low in my opinion. I'd still give it a go if anyone was interested, I quite enjoyed it on PC.
Re: Talking Point: Are You Preparing Your Island For The Animal Crossing: New Horizons Update?
I'm not big into design but I have my island about how I want it. Due to changing Switches before you could transfer your island, this island is already a redo, so I can't stomach it again.
I will, however, be redoing most of my house. That along with the DLC will keep me going for a while. I've already cleared a little farming space for the new crops.
Re: Review: Embr - A Spark Of Co-Op Potential, But Never Catches Fire On Switch
Can't say I agree with this review personally.
I played on PC and found it a decent enough time. It also has a very positive review standing on Steam. Unless the switch port is broken somehow in terms of performance, I'd keep an open mind about this one if you thought you might like it.
Re: Sheepo Is A Cute Creature-Collecting Metroidvania, Out Soon

Re: Talking Point: Remember When People Thought Switch Would Fail?

Not to mention drift...
