I like the Switch, of course, but that old chip is really starting to show its age. Even in some first-party titles, we're seeing lag and frame drops. For me, that's the biggest issue. Nintendo has the money to do better, they just aren't. The OLED is salt in the wound as far as I'm concerned.
What people fail to see is not all Switch owners are in it for the first-party games. Most are I know, but at least a few (myself included) just want a portable option for gaming. Until now we basically only had Nintendo to fill that void. So this is a welcome change given how "vintage" the Switch's hardware is.
As someone who has been in the graded card world, yes sadly people often are willing to pay less for a signed card. This sadly shows that people's view has mostly turned toward money over love of Pokemon.
As for Gary, I'm not surprised. He started buying up Base Set in the 90s, not as a fan, but as an investor. Yes, the investment paid off, but I doubt he was ever really into Pokemon...
I never understood why a trailer should be copyright protected in the first place. It's literally an ad, the more people that see it the better. Copyright protection should be about something that will damage their revenue not add to it.
I love some of what Nintendo does, but I am so team Xbox right now...
I'd need a decently significant performance upgrade to justify the price. I have a Switch Lite as I mostly favor handheld play, but I wouldn't mind a dockable option.
Still, the thought of 4k doesn't interest me in the least, I just want it to be able to run third-party games decently. I'm a little tired of regretting I didn't buy a game for my Xbox instead when I see the Switch performance...
Growing up in the 90s I can see the logic on both sides of this argument. Personally, I do prefer the current gaming landscape, because of indies. Indie titles make up at least 90% of what I play.
The facts are I have a lot more titles in the genres that I enjoy compared to back then. But I still do have a soft spot for the so called good old days.
@JimmySpades Yeah sadly the life/farming sim genre was both blessed and cursed by Stardew. Yes, it was a great game, but not everyone is trying to be Stardew just because they're in the genre.
The constant Stardew comparisons tire me out honestly...
I'm not here to truly disagree, after all, I bought and refunded this game on Steam years ago myself. (There was no controller support then I think...)
But I feel the Switch crowd is going to be a little overly harsh on this game due to Animal Crossing. It does have a score of mostly positive on Steam, likely because on PC there isn't anything remotely close to Animal Crossing.
As someone who has gotten a few hours of so-so joy even out of the likes of Harvest Life, I think die-hard fans of the genre could still enjoy this. But the price is too high, I'm waiting for at least half off to give this another shot.
Wow, this is...sad. The fact that they list the bug-offs and fishing tourneys like it's new is just an insult to injury. Let's hope E3 has something at least remotely exciting for AC.
For me, it's like saying we have too many FPSs or RPGs. The Harvest Moon style farming/life sim has become another common genre since Stardew's success. I for one am overjoyed, as I love these sorts of games. Having so many fresh indie takes on the genre is only a plus in my mind, we've seen some real innovation because of it.
@KnightsTemplar @MaxlRoseGNR I know it mentions tool upgrades and garden plots, but I played the demo on PC months ago, and it wasn't anything like Stardew or Animal Crossings in my opinion. It's more of an Adventure RPG/Zelda vibe.
@Anti-Matter I would go for PS4 unless you really want it portable. The graphics and performance would be improved on the PS4. I do have the switch version though, it is very playable just not as polished as the PC or PS4/Xbox version. Overall, I've logged quite a few hours into both, so I don't think you'll go wrong with either.

Not to mention drift...
Re: Nintendo Has "No Plans" For A Switch Price Drop In America
Well, I have no plans to buy the OLED so...
Re: Mini Review: The Magnificent Trufflepigs - A Metal-Detecting Sim Short On Magnificence
Yep, I read about the story/characters on this one and was like NOPE.
Re: Review: Monster Harvest - Poor Execution Of A Promising 'Stardew Valley X Pokémon' Premise
@Meteoroid Thank you. I have been thinking this for years. Stardew is a great game, but it's not the only/first farming sim out there.
Re: Review: Garden Story - A Flawed But Charming RPG In Farm Sim's Clothing
Personally, I've loved it. It's such a relaxing little gem for me. Just sitting back and grinding for item upgrades with a cup of coffee...
Re: Video: Check Out This Comparison Of The Pokémon Diamond And Pearl Remake Trailers
@Kiz3000 Yeah, I thought the same thing.

@Blakeava1821 I plan to. ; )

Wow, now that I have this I can cancel my Steam Deck order...

Oh Nintendo, why are you so backward?

Re: Adorable Action-RPG 'Garden Story' Hits Switch This Summer
Lovely, day one for me.
Re: There's A Surprise New LEGO Game Coming To Switch Next Month
It has a lovely look to it, but the price seems a little high. Still might pick this up on a sale though.

Re: Talking Point: When Was The Last Time A Game Cracked Your Top Five?
1. My Time At Portia
2. Outer Wilds
3. Eastshade
4. Subnautica
5. Creature In The Well
Re: Nintendo Expands Its Switch Online SNES And NES Service With Five More Titles
Darn Nintendo, at this point I've given up the thought of ever getting to N64 or GBA. But could we please move on to at least Game Boy?
(Let's not even mention Gamecube, that feels about as likely to happen as PS5 games coming to Switch online at this point...)
Re: Story Of Seasons: Mobile Has Its First Trailer, And It Puts Pioneers Of Olive Town In The Shade
Ouch and I just docked myself 50 bucks for Olive Town... This hits even harder with the ongoing Pocket Camp vs New Horizons updates drama.
Why are we paying top dollar while mobile gets the better games?

Re: Watch Out Animal Crossing, Haven Park Is Headed To Switch
Yep a lot of Short Hike vibes, but for me, that's a good thing. I'll be sure to check this out.

Re: Review: Castaway Paradise - "Like Animal Crossing" Indeed, Minus The Good Bits
@CobraA1 Well I guess you could say that. I just always viewed Animal Crossing and Harvest Moon/Stardew as being rather different.

Re: Anniversary: The Animal Crossing Series Is Now 20 Years Old
Played first on Gamecube, but I have a lot of memories of Wild World and New Leaf too.

Re: My Time At Portia Sequel Confirmed For Nintendo Switch, Coming 2022
I loved this on PC, and even the switch port. Will be getting this on day one.

Re: A Subnautica Physical Release Appears To Be Surfacing On Nintendo Switch
Assuming performance is at least ok, I'll be double-dipping on both of these. Playing this on the go is a dream come true.

Re: Summer In Mara Sails Onto The Nintendo Switch On 16th June
Really liked the steam demo, I'll be picking this one up for Switch.
