Unfortunately the graphics don't quite do it for me here. I love myself some 16bit style pixel art but that Gameboy Color style is pushing it too far.

@Deege Only reason I can imagine why you would get a different result is you ran those games on Switch 1 before. Has to be something related to Ubisoft online or whatever. You got assigned some kind of token, but that doesnt work on Switch2.

Not paying the full price for straight up ports of 15 years old games. This is why we can't have nice things.

Assassin's Creed Ezio and Rebel Collections still crashing at launch if internet connection is available. Running fine if Airplane mode is enabled.

I'm torn; Super Metroid voiced cinematic intro was ground breaking at the time but Metroid Dread intro with the Super Metroid outro music was a real treat and a fantastic tie. Most people probably glossed over Metroid Fusion anyway; this was the real sequel.

@westman98 Nintendo can do anything they want with Nintendo games. Mario Galaxy doesnt need to stream assets super fast like Star Wars. It doesnt need that full Switch 2 cartridge speed. That update is likely only a couple hundred MBs.

Looks like Nintendo Life has never learned Pixel Counting; they cannot tell the difference between 1080p and 4K. They are taking Nintendo for their word or just guessing.

Remember 1.2.1 also added HDR for vanilla 3D World so it really ends up being a huge upgrade over the 720p SDR original.

@westman98 Which is my point; it is in line with all the old NS1 games that received free NS2 updates.
Except this one was released AFTER the NS2 launch.
I don't care what color the damn cart is; why is the NS2 version/patch/whatever you call it not on the cart?

Glad to see most reviewers seem to have quietly agreed to gloss over the outrageous price and act like Nintendo is doing us a favor.

Also quite a relief to see the NS2 version is not on the cart, hindering game preservation while preserving the opportunity for more re-releases.

@Mana_Knight Are you telling me the SW1 remake was uncapped, and it now runs at a steady 60 on SW2?

SNES version easily ranks among the top 10 best visuals for the platform. Music is more subjective, but was filled with top class bangers as well.

Carefully avoided the Remake 30fps Switch port and got the PC version.
That Golden Road (original) tune is in my all-time top 10.

They are releasing the bikini dlc 2 weeks after the main game because they dont want that in the reviews hehe

@PikminMarioKirby That is absolutely brutal. And who the heck is still buying Mario Kart 8 in 2025?! I could understand the odd copy, but this is crazy.
And btw I can imagine GTA V is living on banned players and whatnot, but what is going on with Minecraft, why is it so high!?

@Benjamin_K Sure, the built-in display supports 120hz, and even VRR, so that's totally an option.. but they still gotta do something with regular tvs, you can't help it.
Better to have a port than not, but 30fps on a brand new console in 2025 is pretty rough.

@Surv It just doesn't work like that.

@Benjamin_K Framerates need to be perfect multiples of the display refresh rate or you get stuttering. 40fps mode can only be done if the tv can do 120hz. Devs still need to figure out how to deal with 60hz tvs.

@Max_the_German Problem is Switch 2 can only do VRR on its internal display; and 40fps mode is only 1440p and only available if you have a 120Hz display. So yeah; they still got to figure it out the old way. Unfortunately they are choosing 30fps; which is not only terrible for smoothness, but for latency.

Got the original Dragon Warrior from the Nintendo Power offer some.. 31 years ago?! Yes, I am ancient, but not obsolete. The grind for that Flame sword made me the man I am. Those filthy gold golems just had to die.

Switch 2 just wasn't designed with the number 60 in mind. Games are 70 and they run at 30.

I just wish all that effort went into a new game; the old version already looked amazing enough as it was.

Switch 2 port should have been delayed. Now the Physical version will hold the 30fps version forever. So much for long term collections and game preservation.

Wouldn't it be a glorious sight to have 6 dorks going at it in a LAN party.. Of course I'd be one of them. XD

I mostly remember them for all those Android ports they abandoned immediately after release and that disastrous Battlefront Classic Collection sporting assets stolen from mods.
Hopefully this one will turn out better.

Been wanting to get into this game for 25 years, but I feel like that time came and went. I simply cannot commit to 100hrs+ games anymore.

Will buy their plastic junk because it's an obvious collector item but will likely end up using it along with some random android tablet because I'm only a regular NSO subscriber and I'm definitely NOT paying ~3x the monthly fee for Nester's Janky Bowling, Blackwaterworld, 3FPS Tetris, Not Punch Out! and Wario World: The Lost Levels.

Resurrection art style just doesnt do anything for me unfortunately. Some series should stick to pixel art.
