Just got started on this entry and I profoundly dislike just about everything about it. The art style, the animation, the elephant powerup, the level design, text everywhere.. plus dat stupid talking flower..
It released wayyyyyy too close to Mario Kart World ; nobody had appetite for another kart racer. Game should've been delayed an entire year; they would've sold twice as many copies.
sorry wut? "multiple audio issues // and good old-fashioned crashes"? What are you talking about, and to what extent it this true? Because I have over 1100 unmodded hours in this game on pc and I cannot remember what year was the last time it crashed. And audio issues are 100% new to me, and none of the reviews I've came across so far ever mentioned something like that.
Let's abuse this rating system and make Golf the best rated game. Solid 10 stars in my book! All the other titles only get one. Because screw them, that's why. =D
@Stormcloudlive Yeah so as I was saying, it is kind of funny how commentors here will either mock or dismiss what they don't understand, often going as far as trying to shift the blame on the people they were mocking instead of simply admitting their own shortcomings.
Funny how most commenters were mocking me yesterday, saying I could not possibly tell the difference between 60 and 120hz and that a human reflexes would not allow to cash in on it. Especially given this is a single player game.
12 hours later, a Nintendo Life editor comes and says the same thing, and everybody gets in line.
@OpheliaDynamight He's not wrong bringing up numbers but he's actually looking at it the wrong way. My poor reflexes are what they are, but 60hz is ~16ms latency, while 120hz is 8; that's not rocket science. 8 frames is actually kind of a lot in this game. There are obviously other factors at play, but the lesser the betterer.
@squiddu-real Not sure what your "ehhh I mean not quite" is supposed to mean, but regardless of what you are FEELING about the Switch 2 Edition, 120hz will DEMONSTRABLY cut down latency.
In my mind, this is what's making this update truly interesting.
Too long; didn't care enough to read. I've got a 5 years worth of backlog, which could be larger but I'm picky, so devs are more than welcome to take as much time as they want.
@IronMan30 The best strategy. If they ever actually release the entire trilogy on Switch, you know there will be nice collectors editions to be had, and lots of early buyers regrets for actual collectors.. XD
It's 1080p30; not 1440p.. while the second one is significantly more ambitious and the 3rd one even more so. At best, it will be one of those technically impressive Doom3/Witcher 3-like impossible ports with heavily compromised visuals.
@Shade_Koopa There is more to it than that I'm afraid.
1st gen G-Sync did rely on the hardware G-Sync module (now called "G-Sync Ultimate") but nowadays the Nvidia driver will see any Freesync display as "G-Sync compatible" and allow VRR.
Also; Freesync is license free (maybe open source), but NOT universal. AppleTV and some of the latest AndroidTV/GoogleTV set-top boxes support HDMI-Forum standards in order to leverage (sigh) another sub-feature: QMS, aka Quick Media Switching. But that won't work if the tv/monitor only supports G-Sync or Freesync.
@romanista Never heard of that Red Viper thing you are talking about. Virtual Boy was the first thing everybody did when Google Cardboard and the like were released.. some 11 years ago. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Google_Cardboard
@Shade_Koopa There is no such thing as hardware vs software VRR. The differences are in the tech standard. Tvs and monitors can support any combination of the following: Freesync, G-Sync and HDMI-Forum VRR.
That's why outlets like rtings.com will test all 3.
@Oldstalk Terrain destruction is a cool gimmick but there are a lot of mascot 3D platformers to choose from, and picking up the thing to do the other thing is not exactly revolutionary.
So yeah: a 7. Good. Worthwhile. But ultimately, skippable.

Re: Fallout 4 Gets DLSS Support On Switch 2 Today, Here Are The Full Patch Notes
Kind of fascinating given that FO4 still doesn't support DLSS on PC and weapons debris have been broken since the RTX 2xxx series..

@batmanbud2 More like different save files for each profile but we get you.

Gave up on it at the balloons jump part. And I hear the flowers are even worse.
Just like Battletoads, 35 years ago. There's a whole game on the other side of that stupid part that I'll never never get to experience.

Re: Video: Hollow Knight - Side-By-Side Graphics And Performance Comparison (Switch 2 & Switch)
120hz goodness is not about added smoothness. Not on Switch 2.
It's about latency. With games as tough as they are, any millisecond I can shave can make the difference between life and death.

With this kind of Mii nightmare graphics, I'm not even remotely curious to see what the game is actually about.

"largely" stable 30 fps is not a perk;
