Re: Hands On: Does Hollow Knight's Free Upgrade Make A Difference On Switch 2?

Funny how most commenters were mocking me yesterday, saying I could not possibly tell the difference between 60 and 120hz and that a human reflexes would not allow to cash in on it. Especially given this is a single player game.

12 hours later, a Nintendo Life editor comes and says the same thing, and everybody gets in line.

@Shade_Koopa There is more to it than that I'm afraid.

1st gen G-Sync did rely on the hardware G-Sync module (now called "G-Sync Ultimate") but nowadays the Nvidia driver will see any Freesync display as "G-Sync compatible" and allow VRR.

Also; Freesync is license free (maybe open source), but NOT universal. AppleTV and some of the latest AndroidTV/GoogleTV set-top boxes support HDMI-Forum standards in order to leverage (sigh) another sub-feature: QMS, aka Quick Media Switching. But that won't work if the tv/monitor only supports G-Sync or Freesync.
