I know its not specifically Nintendo. But I thought I would never see another Pokemon Snap. So I feel like anything is possible. Not necessarily holding my breath for a new F-Zero. But I wouldn't outright discount it happening at some point.
I think with shored-up controls and some tweaking to the game's length and pacing, a remake of Epic Mickey could be, for lack of a better description, epic.
This also further highlights just how baffling it is that Mickey, Donald, and the rest of the Sensational Six aren't featured more in more high-profile mediums like featured films and/or video games. I know there's merchandise and their Disney Junior shows. But I would love to see those characters featured more in video games. I would also love to see a movie from Disney Animation Studios starring all or a combination of those characters.
I'm all aboard the remaining Ace Attorney games coming to the Switch train. I have them on the 3DS. But I played the Ace Attorney Trilogy on the Switch with my kids and it was fun experiencing that all over again with them. So I would love to play the remaining games on the big screen with them too
I suspect we'll have a couple more Directs throughout the year. Two game focused ones for Splatoon and Pokèmon (which technically would be a Pokèmon Direct). I also think we'll have a general one that will share a surprise or two for the rest of the year and probably more info on some combination of the big three upcoming games everyone has been clamoring more info for (MP4, Bayonetta 3, and BotW 2).
@Scapetti I think it's unavoidable that people get attached and have strong feelings over things like this. Especially when it comes to music. Those have been the tracks for those stages for almost 30 years. It's understandable people would have strong feelings and attachment towards them. It would be like watching an episode of Cheers and discovering 'Where Everybody Knows Your Name' was replaced with something else. Does it necessarily change the quality of the show? No. Cheers would still be one of the best sitcoms of all time. But it would hit differently seeing as that song is intrinsically tied to that show
My feelings: It obviously stinks they can't use the original music. Especially with Carnival Night Zone and Ice Cap Zone. Those are some of the most iconic of the entire series. I do wish they used the prototype versions of Carnival Night as I think they sound better than the revamped versions.
Ice Cap Zone? I think the new (old) music is not that great. That will be the biggest disappointment
Launch Base Zone is decent. Not as good as the original. But it's decent.
Ultimately, it's not a deal breaker. But it's still a bit disappointing. I'll probably just put on some headphones and listen to the original Ice Cap Zone music and it won't be a big deal.
That sucks. The port of 1+2 was excellent. I hadn’t played TH game in so long. But it was literally like riding a bike the moment I picked up the controller and played. 3, IMO, was the series at its best and was hoping to see a remaster of it at some point
@PBandSmelly What other purpose is there for having a shiny than to just have them for aesthetic purposes? They don't do anything different than any other Pokèmon.
I'm not invested in Pikmin as others are. But I'll just go under the assumption it's long been done and they'll release it for whatever console when they have an opening. I wouldn't be that surprised if it's in the Switch's batch of last hurrah games
I get bored with Beat 'em ups very quickly. But this being Turtles and having fond memories of playing Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles II: The Arcade Game and Turtles in Time, I can see myself enjoying this one and seeing it all the way through
I never had the honor (and I'm sure some say I was fortunate) to play Sonic '06. So this scenario is new to me. With that being said, Sonic kissing a human really doesn't;t seem like that egregious of a deal. His strong sense of speed and his inability to swim is obviously no-brainers. I just watched Sonic 2 last night and it was cool to see that rule adhered to (Don't recall if the first movie had any moments of Sonic underwater).
For those declaring Nintendo has nothing to show for a Direct, I'd say we wait until an actual Direct before making such claims. I mean, we already know we still are waiting for more info on a handful of games. So there's that. But we also don't have any idea what Nintendo has been possibly working on that they may want to use to fill in the gaps between big releases.
I don't like olives. So I'm not too hot on Smoliv. But that could change once I see it's next stages.
I do like that Lechonk seems to have an IDGAF kind of aura about it. I have seen people complain that it's name is too memeish and is in reference to a meme..I can't say I've seen any memes in relation to the the name. I did see someone point out, on Reddit, that it's name may be derived from a particular pork dish with a similar name. I assume the chonk part is in reference to it being chunky.
Mansion of Hidden Souls is a name I have not heard in decades. I remember not having much money for games for my newly bought Saturn and picking up the cheapest crap I could at Funcoland. This was one of them and it was one of the most bizarre, ridiculous, and terrible games I had ever played 😂🤣. But I played the hell out of it because it was one of the only games I had until I got some better ones.
For those complaining about NintendoLife reporting this, it's not like they tagged it as breaking news or the biggest Pokèmon news ever. And every streaming service, depending on the content, will have an article on something added to it that an outlet suspects people will like. So I don't see what the problem is.
Plus, as @TMG44 pointed out, maybe someone was waiting for a specific season to be added and doesn't check the app out every day.
But seriously, they are pretty hot. Giving ole Kakui a run for his money. I actually think Turo kinda looks like Chairman Rose and Peony's hotter younger brother or cousin
Legendaries look pretty cool. And some of the new 'mons they showed were cute. Especially that (I assume it's an electric type) dog fighting the starters
Edit: Also, are they implying that the main story can be played multiplayer style?
Edit: So they've already posted the names. It's Pawmi and it's a mouse. Guess that should have been obvious 😂. GF loves their electric mouse/rodents
I was just about to respond to the (now removed) post above. I'm not the target audience and I don't see anything wrong with the game or with a video game site promoting it.
@Not_Soos I agree. I did a couple of free trials and a couple of months reduced subscription through the Fire stick last year and they were pretty good about letting you know when the trial or sale price was ending.
I also had a similar experience with Showtime. Did a free month trial to watch the show Yellowjackets. The day before the trial was up, I went to cancel and they offered me an additional free month not to. Granted, there wasn't much beyond that on there I was interested in or hadn't watched elsewhere. But I thought it was pretty sweet of them to do that.
Watched the movie last night and thought it was really fun. This coming from someone who did watch RR as a kid and has been a fan of Chip N' Dale in general. I thought it poked fun at the show, while at the same time being a love letter to the show and the characters at the same time. But then again, I watched Rescue Rangers live and hadn't watched a lick of it since until it came to D+. So maybe there was enough time away from it for me to appreciate the humor about it. With that said, the commentary on the state of media in this irreverent way, while funny, is at risk of being overdone these days. But otherwise, I enjoyed it. I appreciated it's inspiration from Who Framed Roger Rabbit and has me wishing for a true sequel someday.
Edit: About the cameo, it was fun and funny. Like someone above alluded to, I'd call it an extended cameo as the scene is very substantial and not a "blink and you miss it" kind of thing. But Ugly Sonic is a hideous design and one of very few times I'm glad the internet lost it's collective mind over something silly.
About time. Though from what I seem to gather from those more familiar with the behind the scenes stuff, the delay was due to the service and the Gen 4 remakes being developed on different engines.
@Lizuka Same here. I was hoping to hear about Apollo Justice and the 3DS games coming to the Switch soon. My daughter has been playing through Trials and Tribulations with me on the Switch and she's fallen in love with the series. So I was hoping to continue on with it after we got through that game. At least on the Switch. I have them on the 3DS. But she likes playing the games on a TV
I remember hearing the story from Reggie's point of view. I wasn't aware there was an actual visual concept that existed or that Miyamoto was also involved in this pitch
I will I usually try to stay out of conversations involving Kanye. I absolutely don't deny narcissism or a really grandiose sense of importance plays a part in his actions. But there's also the mental illness aspect. There's no forcing anyone to get the proper help they may need. But it also doesn't help having yes people, hanger ons, and enablers exasperating the situation. So that part of his story makes me incredibly sad for Kanye.
With all that being said, I am not entirely surprised the subject of the game involves his mom. Her death seems to be when things really started going off the rails for him and he's never seen to really recover from it. Though I guess, who ever truly recovers from a loss like that?
I also find the trailer a bit unsettling. Not so much in it's subject matter. I'm not religious at all. But have no problem discussing concepts on angels, heaven, or the afterlife. I think it's more so the presentation of it all. The visuals, the haunting music and who it's from. It's like watching the thoughts of a saddened individual come to life in a medium you don't expect to see them in
I guess I'll try to be optimistic the game will be decent. It's not like they just started developing it six months ago. We also know it's already been delayed once. So it's had some considerable amount of time. Not that it promises anything.
Sounds like still a buy to me. Volleyball seems to be the only disappointment. The bit about tennis makes it sounds like the only issue is that it's not much different from the previous game. I can understand the disappointment in that. But that's fine with me. I know what to expect. We loved tennis in Wii Sports.
I can't say I'm familiar with the Hoover for vaccumn cleaners example. Though it might be a generational thing. The coke example? I feel like that's something that could go either way. My experience is that people are asking for the actual brand. My family is a family of Pepsi drinkers. So they will specifically ask if a restaurant carries Pepsi.
I am familiar with the usual suspects like Band-Aid, Scotch Tape, Qtip, and of course Xerox (that's especially become apparent having worked in a print shop for the last 9 years). So I can understand why Nintendo had concerns over it. I know my grandmother and/or older family members were guilty of calling out Sega Genesis Nintendo. But I think these days, I'm not sure it's that much of an issue. Maybe still for older folks who have lost complete touch with video gaming past the original Nintendo
@Silly_G Thank you for clarifying your point. Yes, the Let's Go games aren't even in the discussion. It was made clear they are just a one way trip.
My assumption was that even though the remakes were released after Sword and Shield, being backwards chronologically in terms of generation and not introducing any conflicting mechanics or moves and really just being straight up remakes had me assuming Pokèmon from BDSP would have no problem transferring to Sword and Shield. But I guess we'll have to wait and see if and when Home finally supports BDSP.
@Silly_G I understand what your saying and how Home works. But I don't think the poster was talking about sending Pokèmon (and not specifically Gen 1 Pokèmon) back to an older game from whence they came. It sounds like once they were done with BDSP, that they were hoping to send some BDSP Pokèmon to SwSh. Based on their post, I assume they're already aware of how Pokèmon Home works. But I probably shouldn't speak or assume for other posters.
@Silly_G I think that's what @BlueGBAMicro is talking about. Transferring Pokèmon from BDSP to SwSh, not the other way. Which I imagine shouldn't be an issue, provided the Pokèmon is already coded into SwSh
I'll be there in June waiting for Nintendo's Direct and other announcements. The kid in me will miss the spectacle. But we are at a point where these guys can do their own things and it still be just as effective.
As for Geoff Knightly's Summer Game Fest, the whole thing seem to be really all over the place last year. Or at least that's how it came off to me. So it was really hard to follow. So I don't necessarily have any interest in it. Unless we are talking about a more cohesive presentation this go around
@EriXz I don't think criticizing Nintendo and the NSO necessarily equates to they having been unhappy when working for the company. I wouldn't necessarily say that criticizing Nintendo's decisions was
1) The function of Nintendo Minute and
2) Probably not the smartest thing to do as an employee. At least not in such a public manner and at least not this hill to die on.
Now they have a platform to make those observations, as fans, and it seems appropriate to me. I admit I haven't listened/watched this episode. But it sounds to me the criticism (which is valid) was done in a constructive way.
It's definitely a drag. But it's not the end of the world. I have loads I need to finish and catch up on as it is. Not to mention Mario Strikers, Splatoon 3 and Pokèmon later on for sure. I also forgot there was some stuff from the last Direct that I'm interested in (The Portal Collection being one). Plus I'm sure we'll have other surprises throughout the year.
@rjejr Come on now. That post was back in June of 2019, a full nine months before crap hit the fan with Covid. No one foresaw then what the next two years would be like. Changed the conversation completely. And who knows what this project has turned into from what it started out as ( which we know was exrptra content that became too big to be DLC). Since that time, we got a relatively solid release year at least from the horses mouth. That has changed obviously and it doesn't sound like it'll be that much longer from when it was suspected it would be released. It's not new with Nintendo. And obviously, the wait for the original game is proof they must know what they're doing by delaying it.
As for the speculation this being delayed for a new Switch model, that's one discussion I don't have the mental bandwidth to go into,. Could be the case. Might not be. We've been down that road too many times. I'll just wait til Nintendo says anything about before jumping on that topic again
@rjejr The next new game will take as long as it need. But in the case of this game, I would imagine two years of a pandemic haven't helped matters. Sure, they're reusing assets that already exist. But it also sounds like they'll be more experiences that didn't exist in the first one. So I'm sure it's much more complicated than just slapping a new coat of paint on what's already there. Probably have to build some mechanics and things from the ground up. It's not like we are talking having to wait a whole another year from its planned release date. What are we talking, an additional 3, 4 months if December was the target?
This isn't really directed at anyone in particular. But the popular sentiment I'm seeing in this discussion is that potential title makes no sense. If, as Nintendo has stated, the title is key to spoiling what the game is about, then of course it makes no sense. We still know very little about the game. If this is the title (and I really don't care one way or the other), then I'm sure it'll make sense once we know more about the game, it's plot, and it's gameplay.
I also don't buy having "Breath of" in the title as having any adverse effects on the reception of the game. Is anyone really going to not buy this game just because it has a similar title structure to the first?
Sounds a bit like Mario. Not a strict timeline. But you just assume the events of one game just proceed after the events of another, with no real narrative connection other than the characters and their existing relationships. Maybe some references here and there. But no game and it's story is necessarily beholden to another
@Screen I thought Coco, Luca, Toy Story 4, Inside Out, and Turning Red were all great movies. Everything else is a kind of mixed bag. Certainly not terrible. But not as good as the movies I listed. At least in my opinion
Not to say I haven't done so. But it's been really few and far in between (and I seriously mean extremely few and far in between). I would if there was a financial benefit to it and it offered real discounts. Otherwise, it's pointless
Eventually. We don't play much MK8 these days. Though I guess that could change if I were to get the Booster Pack. But at the moment, I have other stuff in my backlog I plan to play. My next purchase will most likely Nintendo Switch Sports
Someone on another platform was complaining about the inclusion of the owl statue. I don't recall if there's been anything like that in the games. But their complaint was that it wasn't game accurate. I don't know about anyone else, but these Sonic movies seem to be some of the most faithful adaptations from it's previous media. Not necessarily 1:1 adaptations. But really leaning into the source material and not trying to ground or gritty up it's fantastical elements.
My only hope is that IceCap Zone's music is played in some kind of way during the snowboarding scene
I remember this being one of those crappy games your friends would rent for whatever reason (the one's who actually could afford to do so regularly) that you just couldn't understand why. Don't necessarily remember how it plays. But I know it was one I probably didn't care for as I never played it again beyond that rental

I think with shored-up controls and some tweaking to the game's length and pacing, a remake of Epic Mickey could be, for lack of a better description, epic.

Re: Sonic The Hedgehog 2 Star Jim Carrey Says He's "Fairly Serious" About Retiring
Hopefully, the second Sonic movie is as fun and entertaining as the first one
Re: A New Limited-Time Pokémon Brilliant Diamond And Shining Pearl Distribution Event Has Begun
@Silly_G I think that's what @BlueGBAMicro is talking about. Transferring Pokèmon from BDSP to SwSh, not the other way. Which I imagine shouldn't be an issue, provided the Pokèmon is already coded into SwSh
Re: E3 2022 Is Officially Cancelled
I'll be there in June waiting for Nintendo's Direct and other announcements. The kid in me will miss the spectacle. But we are at a point where these guys can do their own things and it still be just as effective.
As for Geoff Knightly's Summer Game Fest, the whole thing seem to be really all over the place last year. Or at least that's how it came off to me. So it was really hard to follow. So I don't necessarily have any interest in it. Unless we are talking about a more cohesive presentation this go around
Re: Former Nintendo Employee Admits He's Frustrated With Switch Online
@EriXz I don't think criticizing Nintendo and the NSO necessarily equates to they having been unhappy when working for the company. I wouldn't necessarily say that criticizing Nintendo's decisions was
1) The function of Nintendo Minute and
2) Probably not the smartest thing to do as an employee. At least not in such a public manner and at least not this hill to die on.
Now they have a platform to make those observations, as fans, and it seems appropriate to me. I admit I haven't listened/watched this episode. But it sounds to me the criticism (which is valid) was done in a constructive way.
Re: Poll: C'mon Then, Did You Predict The Zelda: Breath Of The Wild 2 Delay?
@KBuckley27 Feels way to early to be making that kind of prediction. We really don't know what they have brewing for 2023 besides this game.
Re: Poll: C'mon Then, Did You Predict The Zelda: Breath Of The Wild 2 Delay?
It's definitely a drag. But it's not the end of the world. I have loads I need to finish and catch up on as it is. Not to mention Mario Strikers, Splatoon 3 and Pokèmon later on for sure. I also forgot there was some stuff from the last Direct that I'm interested in (The Portal Collection being one). Plus I'm sure we'll have other surprises throughout the year.
Re: The Legend Of Zelda: Breath Of The Wild 2 Delayed To Spring 2023
Re: The Legend Of Zelda: Breath Of The Wild 2 Delayed To Spring 2023
@rjejr The next new game will take as long as it need. But in the case of this game, I would imagine two years of a pandemic haven't helped matters. Sure, they're reusing assets that already exist. But it also sounds like they'll be more experiences that didn't exist in the first one. So I'm sure it's much more complicated than just slapping a new coat of paint on what's already there. Probably have to build some mechanics and things from the ground up. It's not like we are talking having to wait a whole another year from its planned release date. What are we talking, an additional 3, 4 months if December was the target?
Re: The Legend Of Zelda: Breath Of The Wild 2 Delayed To Spring 2023
Wow. That happened so quickly. I just switched devices to come back on the site. And this popped up
Re: Rumour: A New Zelda: BOTW 2 Name Is Gaining Traction Online...
Re: There's "No Clear Timeline" For Kirby's Game Stories, According To HAL Laboratory's General Director
Sounds a bit like Mario. Not a strict timeline. But you just assume the events of one game just proceed after the events of another, with no real narrative connection other than the characters and their existing relationships. Maybe some references here and there. But no game and it's story is necessarily beholden to another
Re: Random: Kingdom Hearts Gets A Nod On The Latest Mickey Mouse Cartoon
@Screen I thought Coco, Luca, Toy Story 4, Inside Out, and Turning Red were all great movies. Everything else is a kind of mixed bag. Certainly not terrible. But not as good as the movies I listed. At least in my opinion
Re: Talking Point: Should We Still Be Pre-Ordering Games?
Simple answer? No.
Not to say I haven't done so. But it's been really few and far in between (and I seriously mean extremely few and far in between). I would if there was a financial benefit to it and it offered real discounts. Otherwise, it's pointless
Re: Poll: Will You Be Buying The Mario Kart 8 Deluxe - Booster Course Pass DLC?
Eventually. We don't play much MK8 these days. Though I guess that could change if I were to get the Booster Pack. But at the moment, I have other stuff in my backlog I plan to play. My next purchase will most likely Nintendo Switch Sports
Re: Paramount Releases Final Trailer For Sonic The Hedgehog 2
Someone on another platform was complaining about the inclusion of the owl statue. I don't recall if there's been anything like that in the games. But their complaint was that it wasn't game accurate. I don't know about anyone else, but these Sonic movies seem to be some of the most faithful adaptations from it's previous media. Not necessarily 1:1 adaptations. But really leaning into the source material and not trying to ground or gritty up it's fantastical elements.
My only hope is that IceCap Zone's music is played in some kind of way during the snowboarding scene
Re: Nintendo 64 Platformer 'Glover' Returns, Just Not On Switch
I remember this being one of those crappy games your friends would rent for whatever reason (the one's who actually could afford to do so regularly) that you just couldn't understand why. Don't necessarily remember how it plays. But I know it was one I probably didn't care for as I never played it again beyond that rental
