I just got a code from Micromania. I'm almost certain the code is for Sword, as it won't let me redeem it in Shield. So clearly I bungled that, lol. If anyone has a Shield code they're willing to trade, let me know. Not sure if NL has a private or direct messaging feature.
@EVILSMOG When I hear this, it's obvious to me either GameStop employees don't read the promotional material or they just like being dbags on purpose. I'm looking at the promotional material for the giveaway and clearly says no purchase necessary. So I really don't know how they allowed to get away with this
I guess 15-20 years ago, I would have said anything under 40 when I had more time to play games. But as one of the folks described in the article with more disposable income and less time, 20 and under I would consider a good short. But reading the comments, I definitely would agree it would depend on the genre.
@VoidofLight Ahh. Seeing as I didn't particularly care for the Dynamaxing mechanic and didn't bother with Gigantamax forms, I think I just didn't remember Gigantamax Eevee existed.
I also never even noticed there was a pattern with the Eevee evolutions. I do agree if the next one were a Dragon type, they probably would have wanted to make a point of the association of dragons with Galar. Though, I assume Eternatus was the Pokèmon to fill that role. I wouldn't be at all surprised if they decided to buck trends and used one of the other types for Eevee's next evolution.
I watched it again and thought maybe it was something a bit more menacing than a new Eevee form. But really listening to it, it sounds like he encounters an additional Pokèmon at the end of the video.
@Classic603 That's entirely possible. I just assume it's a standard Snorunt only because it doesn't look any different in the footage. But I certainly acknowledge the footage is made to be not clear. So it is possible it looks similar to a regular Snorunt through the graininess, but be a variant.
@Classic603 Snorunt is definitely the first Pokèmon he sees. You can tell, even with the blurry video by it's familiar shape. He also says "it's a wild.....runt" at one point.
The second one he sees is hard to decipher seeing as the description could fit a bunch of different Pokèmon. He does mistake it for Growlithe and Vulpix. I'm hesitant to say it's another Vulpix variant because he references tail in the singular, whereas Vulpix has multiple tails. It could be a Arcanine variant. But that wouldn't be much mystery seeing as we already know a Growlithe variant exist.
@VoidofLight We are getting new variants and a whole new Pokèmon in Kleavor. Plus, it's been two generations and 8 years since we got a new Eevee evolution. So it wouldn't be much of a surprise
@Pokester99 That's a bit extreme for a game that isn't even put yet. Why not just hope for a good game, wait for it's release and the reception, and then go from there on the doom and gloom?
People are going to like what they like and dislike what they dislike. Just how the world goes. As long as you keep your passion for whatever side you fall on to why you feel the way you do. I'm seeing a handful of reactions to people questioning the judgement of others. No need to go down that road.
Personally, I enjoyed Other M. But then I admit to being in the very far end.ofnthe Metroid fandom spectrum. So maybe my opinion doesn't mean much
I bought the first Fighters Pass I honestly wasn't planning on buying the second one. But I came into a couple of surprise eShop cards. So I just bought it for completion sake
Edit: I also think it's worth it to try everyone out at least once
@CharlieGirl I can't imagine there wouldn't be another one. It's become one of Nintendo's biggest franchises. Of course it won't be the same roster and it doesn't need to be. There's probably enough untapped Nintendo characters alone to put forth a couple of games going forward. Not to mention other 3rd party characters to choose from
@VoidofLight I think the series will be fine. The next entry will probably have some new tricks up it sleeve, refine some current ones and it'll sell. Maybe not as much as New Horizons has for obvious reasons. But the hype for NH was immense before Covid. So the brand awareness is much more than it was for previous titles. Of course there are no guarantees.
One more thing to add. I know most seem to believe or think the DLC is a factor in the price of the expansion pack. There's a good chance it is. I know it's futile to ask for Nintendo to clarify if it is. But I sort of wish they would. The only reason I don't believe it has an affect on the pricing and is just a tacked on perk, is that they have also made it available to purchase. If your strategy is to get people to subscribe to the NSO and you include downloadable content (from one of your biggest titles), as a perk, that is partly locked behind the subscription, why in the world would you also make it available to buy? That would seem to cut in to that strategy
And look, Nintendo has many faults and shortcomings. I'm not gonna pretend otherwise. But I just don't see them blatantly putting customers in a position where they would be paying for content more than once. Yes, they do it with ports and did it with VC content. But that was across generations. Not ideal, but not as egregious as this would be if this is the case.
@Specter_of-the_OLED I'm on the fence about the expansion pass. I mean, I'm content, for the time being, with buying the Animal Crossing DLC and just waiting until December (when my basic NSO subscription ends) or later to decide to upgrade.
But for my temperament when it comes to gaming, I only play certain games every so often. And so the idea of subscription service is nice for the simple fact that within that given period I'm subscribed, I can play that game(s) when I want and not be on the hook in buying something I'm only gonna play once a year or every other year. It happened with VC on the Wii and Wii U. And like you said, it breaks down to a little over $4.00 a month and it's all one payment. It's not like we're talking $50 a month here.
I also know the comparison to other gaming services is brought up. I'm aware they may have much more attractive perks. I really can't speak on them or the comparisons seeing as the only experience I have with any other is Xbox Gold and that's from gaming on the 360. I haven't had an active Gold membership in probably 7 or 8 years now.
@Cyberbotv2 You really believe Nintendo has that kind of time and care to go to the some random leaker to plant a rumor? You don't think that's a little bit out there?
I'm not defending Nintendo's decision making on this, though I'm not gonna go as far as to call them scummy or anti consumer. I personally will buy the Animal Crossing DLC and stick with the basic membership for now. I also wonder why they felt the need to pursue the Genesis library as an addition over one of their own not currently available.
But I am still curious as to why those who boast to have these games through other means are so incensed with rage. Not saying Nintendo is above reproach. I've stated my gripes with some of their decision making on this very site. But with this, an optional subscription, I don't get why those who probably don't necessarily have a need for it are so upset
@Stroopwafel That's why I don't believe the DLC has any bearing on the price of the Expansion Pack. Maybe I'm giving Nintendo too much credit here. But the way it works brings up the implication that Nintendo could be asking you to potentially pay for the DLC twice if the price of the expansion pack includes (in some manner) the DLC. Nintendo may have a specific philosophy of evaluating the value of it's product in comparison to some of their audience. But I'm not ready to believe they're that arrogant
Whatever the case may be, it's once again Nintendo muddling up it's messaging when it needs not to.
@Audiogore0733 That's the thing. They're saying you have access to the Animal Crossing DLC at no additional cost. So I don't think the DLC adds to the cost of the plan in any way. I think it's just some tacked on incentive to get people to upgrade.
@SpaceboyScreams s Just curious. Where did Nintendo address the specifics of the DLC? Not saying I don't believe you. I've been looking for clarification on how this would work getting the DLC through the expansion versus on it's own.
But then it begs my my next question: Is access to the vacations islands online only? Cause if that's the case, it doesn't really seem like it matters how you obtain the DLC. You'll need a NSO account regardless
@BanjoPickles Pretty much this. I might just eventually stick with the basic plan as well. But at the end of the day, make noise with your wallet and Nintendo will probably respond accordingly.
I'm curious about the proclamation, from some, about these games (N64 and Genesis) being available on other consoles or people still owning their original devices. What exactly is the complaint here if that is the case and you already have access to these games? Couldn't you just stick with the basic membership plans and go about your day?
And for those that only wanted a segment of this expansion, I'd understand the complaints if Nintendo, at any point, indicated there would be variants on this expansion. But as far as it seemed from the start, there was the base membership tiers and then the expansion. So I'm not sure if there are any surprises there that by paying for this membership
I'm also beginning to wonder if the Animal Crossing DLC actually factors into the cost? Is the price of the expansion$49.99 and one of the perks includes getting this DLC for free or is it a perk built in to the pricing that as long as you maintain an active membership, you are entitled to any upcoming DLC from other games at no additional cost and this just happens to be the first pack to be featured? I guess an argument can be made for a tier that doesn't feature this, if it is a general perk, in case it's a game you don't own or plan to own.
My post isn't meant to completely defend Nintendo here. There's probably a million ways they could have approached this. But I do wonder if, for the AC DLC aspect, if there's more for Nintendo to clarify than what was shared today.
Personally, I'm fine with the idea of a subscription service of some sorts for classic games. I realized during the Wii and Wii U VC days that even though I have fond memories for many of these games, I ended up buying, played them once and then never again.
@CharlieGirl I don't disagree if this is a service rather than traditional DLC. However, someone pointed out that it doesn't make sense to have this as a service and as a standalone option. One kind of interferes with the purpose of the other. And a good chunk of the content is brought back to your regular island. I can't, for a second, imagine a piece of furniture or wall partitions are gonna disappear on your regular island if your membership lapses.
I will definitely agree that it's a major misstep to not have a plan that doesn't feature the DLC. I don't really know what the thinking is behind that
@CharlieGirl The wording is still not very clear. It very well could mean you need an active membership to use the DLC if purchased through this method. Or maybe it means you get the DLC and at the same time, paying to maintain an active membership to use its online features.
Let me be clear, I’m not saying your absolutely wrong I now you read it. I just want Nintendo to come out and explicitly state how this works
@CharlieGirl Where are you reading that getting the DLC through the Expansion Pack means you don't own it? I mean, it's not necessarily made very clear to begin with. But I'm not seeing that stated anywhere
@rjejr You mean an additional $49.99 or $79.99 in to the current $19.99 or $34.99?
From what it sounds like, those are the total prices of the plans. You can opt into those plans if your already on one of the current plans and then get a prorated rate for whatever time is left on your current membership.
@CharlieGirl I actually still played that way for the the most part. At least up until Sword and Shield. I kept it off most of the time. But would toggle it on every now and then if I wanted to level up a specific Pokèmon. But otherwise z I enjoyed rotating Pokèmon through battles and leveling them up the old fashioned way.
I think in the end, the argument isn't necessarily that it exist. But why move away from making it optional. I just can't wrap my head around why they've become so against giving players the option. As I said in a previous article, it isn't necessarily a deal breaker. At least for me personally. But it just seems like an odd decision
@shinesprites Most other places are reporting you can't turn it off GameXplain posted that because of the conflicting reports, they are trying to reach out to Nintendo for clarification
Sounds like EXP Share will once again not be optional. I don't really understand why it has become an issue to develop a toggle switch for this
Edit: Just to clarify. This isn't a deal breaker. I'm excited to go back to D&P. Just don't know why they couldn't just keep this particular feature optional.
Not necessarily me being pulling a "Back in my day" here. But I do sort of miss the old digitized graphics of the first three games. There was just a certain charm to them that I can't explain. Maybe because it made the games feel a bit more immersive and realistic, even with the fantastical special and finishing moves.
Not to derail the discussion, but I sort of share the same sentiments with Resident Evil and its old tank-style gameplay.
Haven't played it since it was released. But I remember leaving it thinking, while I enjoyed it, it would probably be the one game in the series I wouldn't rush to play again. Though, I have yet to play Spirit of Justice. So maybe I might feel the same way with that one too. I do have both loaded up on my 3DS and I'm currently going through the entire mainline series for the first time in years. On the first case of Trials and Tribulations. So we'll see if my feelings on AJ might be different after so much time away from it
I had to mute the discussions about this on Twitter. I'm not the emulation or pirate police. But I won't do it personally, no matter how much I want to play a game.
However, the mental gymnastics in trying to justify doing it was completely bonkers. Just not based in reality at all
A bit of a letdown to hear just based on the promise alone. This sounds like a souped up version of Sword and Shield's Wild Area. Which is not a bad thing, as long as the game as a whole is well made. To be real honest, I was never wedded to the idea of an open world Pokèmon anyways.
I'm in the US. Unlike the last code giveaway, the newsletter with the codes showed up in my inbox with no issues. And I did not have to do anything funky to make sure it showed up. So it's still baffling why the last Zarude giveaway was botched and this one wasn't (at least in my experience)
@black_sabbath Not necessarily. I would imagine there are many, like myself, who isn’t over the moon about it only because of no emotional attachment to KH or Sora and who aren’t upset about it either. I’ll try him out. If I like him, I’ll use him. If not, there are 80+ other fighters to choose from

Re: Soapbox: Why Apollo Justice Might Be The Best Ace Attorney Game
Haven't played it since it was released. But I remember leaving it thinking, while I enjoyed it, it would probably be the one game in the series I wouldn't rush to play again. Though, I have yet to play Spirit of Justice. So maybe I might feel the same way with that one too. I do have both loaded up on my 3DS and I'm currently going through the entire mainline series for the first time in years. On the first case of Trials and Tribulations. So we'll see if my feelings on AJ might be different after so much time away from it
Re: Nintendo's Switch Exclusive Metroid Dread Is Already Being Emulated On PC
I had to mute the discussions about this on Twitter. I'm not the emulation or pirate police. But I won't do it personally, no matter how much I want to play a game.
However, the mental gymnastics in trying to justify doing it was completely bonkers. Just not based in reality at all
Re: Pokémon Legends: Arceus Won't Actually Be An Open-World Game
A bit of a letdown to hear just based on the promise alone. This sounds like a souped up version of Sword and Shield's Wild Area. Which is not a bad thing, as long as the game as a whole is well made. To be real honest, I was never wedded to the idea of an open world Pokèmon anyways.
Re: Random: This Nintendo Switch Birthday Cake Makes Us Want A Thick Switch
The piggy in me really wants to know what flavor the actual cake is 😂
Re: Pokémon Sword And Shield's Dada Zarude And Shiny Celebi Distribution Is Rolling Out Right Now
I'm in the US. Unlike the last code giveaway, the newsletter with the codes showed up in my inbox with no issues. And I did not have to do anything funky to make sure it showed up. So it's still baffling why the last Zarude giveaway was botched and this one wasn't (at least in my experience)

Excited for the Direct and the content
Re: Super Smash Bros. Ultimate's Final Fighter Is... Kingdom Hearts' Sora!
@Gundam_Warrior Your steakhouse analogy doesn’t even come close to being the same as this.
Re: Super Smash Bros. Ultimate's Final Fighter Is... Kingdom Hearts' Sora!
