@Rob3008 @YoshiF2 I can partly understand what @LexKitteh is saying. Yes, you can transfer and house those Pokèmon to Pokèmon Home. However, there's no guarantee those Pokèmon will be included or programmed into any upcoming games. I can understand the frustration, especially now they're asking you to pay a fee to house your Pokèmon and for some, with nothing to do with them.

Let me reiterate, this isn't any commentary on TPC, any specific game or Dexit. But when games in the past allowed you to use your Pokèmon without needing a storage service (outside of transferring), but now that's not the case and their asking you to pay a fee (which I admit is at least annually), I can understand the frustration

This does kind of damper my hype meter a bit. Let's hope its truly early build issues and not a real representation of the final product

@Dragmire I told my kids I wouldn't at all be shocked if Wario had a cameo somehow. Maybe an end credits appearance, hinting at a sequel.

I was pleasantly surprised. I'm sure I'll get used to Pratt's voice as Mario. Really loved the Bowser stuff. That was the right amount of kid friendly scary and just awesome. Glad Jack Black is doing a version of Bowser and not Bowser with Jack Black's voice

Gonna be a good day for Nintendo fans. Or at least those of us who are both Mario, and Pokèmon fans

@Silly_G I can't speak for the other franchises you name. But I think the comparison with Just Dance is a little bit disingenuous.

Now, I completely concede that the core gameplay of Just Dance hasn't really changed. I also concede that an argument could be made the game could theoretically be updated with the new tracks without having to buy a whole new title.

But unlike this game, you're at least getting the same game and experiences as other consoles (as far as I know). So if new songs, modes or features are added, you're gonna get those on Nintendo editions as well (again, as far as I know. I could be completely wrong).

Also with Just Dance, you can get it pretty cheap shortly after launch if you're willing to wait. Since I started buying the games again, for my kids, staring with 2017, I've never paid more than $25.

I agree that maybe this score is a little harsh. Especially when the game is the same game as the Switch 2018 edition. If that game was a decently playable game.

But I can also understand the scoring taking into account the effort put into the game or the lack thereof. Sure, they're upfront about the situation. It's still is a bit of middle finger

I had both Mario Makers at various points. I love the depth of the series and appreciate the concept. After a whole, I've come to realize that I prefer to just play Mario games than trying to create them.

@FlyingFoxy Nice to see someone else who enjoyed Terminator 3. Is it as great as Judgement Day? No. But it's still entertaining, great chemistry with the leads. Kristanna Loken was great as a Terminator. Arnie is Arnie. Lastly, I've always appreciated that it commits to Skynet and Judgement Day. It shouldn't have surprised me when I had first watched the movie. But I remember being shocked that they actually allowed it to happen.

Many have mentioned and touched upon it. But besides being an extremely well made game/series, the world building and getting fans involved in it in a way only a handful of series have done is a huge part of it. Giving fans a huge feeling of ownership. It's doing that little bit of extra, unique thing to compete and distinguish itself from other more well known, graphically intense shooters.

If they're gonna introduce a new iteration of the Switch concept, it needs to be the next Switch. Not an incremental upgrade. It's been long enough. You've already introduced two variant models. Let's just move on in that case

@Bunkerneath I enjoy some moments in the game. But unless it receives a complete overhaul in terms of controls and camera (essentially a remake I guess), it is not a Mario game I plan on ever going back to again. Great if others can overcome its flaws. Lord knows I enjoy certain games with their own issues that others can't get past. I will acknowleged that at its core, there exist a fantastic game, that with some changes, could be realized. But I have no desire to ever revisit Sunshine. And I am probably as big of a Mario fan as they come

@LudicrousBeeswax Can I say I have played Mario Sunshine quite a few times. Back in 2003 and when 3D All Stars came out. I've seen that cover art more times than I can count. I genuinely also never noticed Mario was wearing a short sleeve shirt. I think my brain is so trained to Mario's usual look it just never occurred to me that in this game, it was slightly different

@Yosher Or the real story is somewhere in the middle. Kit and Krysta have never come off as anything but earnest. So I believe they're only relaying what they were told. It also can be true that what they were told was based on a false understanding of what a Nuzlocke is.

The whole uproar about this was beyond silly.

I'm excited. I also didn't even think twice about the meaning of Tears in the name and how it could not actually mean teardrops (which I automatically assumed). Though looking at the title, it says "Tears of the Kingdom" which sounds a bit more like it would mean crying tears. I suspect "Tears in a/the Kingdom" would sound more like actual rips of some sort in the kindgom

I just wanted to touch on the whether or not ports of Wind Waker HD and Twilight Princess HD exist. I am not saying I take complete stock in rumors or speculation. I am not saying I absolutely believe they exist. I will say I can't say for sure they don't and can't say for sure if any of the folks reporting the rumors are lying. It could be a case that they were actually told by a credible source and unfortunately, plans changed.

I know everyone loves to say go into a Direct with low expectations. But I actually like going into them hoping for something surprising. Something mind blowing. Something I've been longing for. I'm also an adult and know if nothing in the Direct is on my wishlist or reaches my hopes and dreams, the that's okay. Hopefully, something at least leaves me intrigued. If it's nothing, you simply move on.

With that being said, I would be over the moon with an announcement on an Odyssey followup, something F-Zero related that's substantial, and more news on Breath of the Wild 2

I'll wait for an official announcement. Quite possible they wanted to keep it simple and straightforward or could be just a placeholder.

@prismt I think NL is speculating, based on the event language, that his new appearance may be story related. I say we wait for more info. Because with what we know about Ultra Wormholes and how they work in Pokémon, its quite possible this might be the case. Or it could just be a straight-up redesign

I'll have to wait for release. I obviously missed the option to pick a tricolor battle. I think I played thinking it was an automatic option and never got to participate in one

Furthermore, I think it's notable to mention for the simple fact that prior to the game, the series had been known for its tank play style. So this was a bit of a gamble in changing things up in such a big way.

So yes, I'm sure every game goes through multiple iterations in the development stages. But the article is about Resident Evil. The article is also not suggesting it's the only game to have done so

I played through Trials and Tribulations with my youngest daughter recently. She got so invested in the story and in the AA formula in general. Her mind was blown when she found out the story behind Dahlia, Iris and their connection to the Fey family.

@Would_you_kindly They are. And to Kate’s point about concise dialogue, Portal (in general) is a bit of a lesson in that sometimes, less can definitely be more or at the very least leave just as much as an impact as the most stuffed games

I would not at all be surprised if the tweet containing the sea urchin wiki page isn't too far off from the real story. Say what you will about Nintendo (or even Nintendo adjacent things like Pokemon). But they are good about using or throwing in those little details that add really rich context to its world/lore building

Excited for the Splatfest and its theme kind of made me chuckle a bit.

To answer the question that was asked again at the end of the live chat about whether or not this game should exist as its own game or as additional content to Splatoon 2, I think it really comes down to your own opinion. After watching that Direct, I think enough time has passed, and content is being added to justify a new game. I mean, I personally don't know enough about game design and how easy it is to change the complexion of a game in a way some of these changes will do.

So some with far more experience in that could probably answer whether or not it would have been easier and worth it to add these features to Splatoon 2 or if a new game had to be made.

By the way, I love Deep Cut already. Seems like they'll carry on the tradition created and refined by Squid Sisters and Off the Hook, respectively.

@somnambulance For me, it's Gen 8 Pokémon . It's crazy because I actually liked most of the new Pokémon themselves. Ultimately, Sword and Shield are my least favorite of the series and I didn't/don't play them as religiously as previous games. So it's been a challenge to remember names

@Anti-Matter I think there's some truth to that. But I also think you have this group in the middle, like myself, who are open-minded. But are willing to constructively criticize and call out issues that we think exist or at the very least, could be improved upon.

@EarthboundBenjy Interesting. I had the opposite feelings about Zigzagoon. I always felt its original form was boring. But the Galarian variant I liked a lot. Same with Weezing

There was a leak not too long ago about a regional version of the Wooper line. Obviously, there was some truth to the concept of a regional variant. But the pictures accompanying that leak were a lot more outrageous than this. Interested to see what the Paldean Quagsire will look like

@Greatluigi I saw it too and honestly, I didn't think much of it as I was pretty impressed with everything else I saw. I'm genuinely excited about the idea of being able to do the gyms in any order you choose and for the multiple stories. The multiplayer aspect is also intriguing as well

@Lady_rosalina I understand that. I guess what I'm saying is that my assumption is that before Sept 9th, Nintendo will somehow showcase all the information everyone is looking for. Some aren't using common sense and acting as if Nintendo isn't going to provide that info.

I think most gamers with common sense realize that at the end of the day, you just can't play everything. Unless there's that one person in the world, somewhere with all the time and money in the for endless gaming, you are bound to miss out on something. Whether its by circumstances or by choice.

I've played Portal. Actually, I played Portal 2 first and then Portal after. They are really excellent games.

I really wouldn't lump a handful of dramatic, attention seekers with all fans.. Xenoblade and Pokèmon getting attention didn't even register as taking attention away from Splatoon 3

For those unsure about the game and wish there was a demo, maybe check your local library and see if they have the game available to checkout. Provided that’s an option in your neck of the woods

I admit my figure amiibo collecting is extremely sporadic. It’s a ounce in blue moon impulse buy. And this is no disrespect to anyone who keeps them boxed. But it feels like a waste to do so. So short answer is I unbox them and just display them on my tv stand near the Switch. My AC amiibo cards ( which I have more of) just sit in the drawer of my nightstand. I’ll grab them when needed

Everyone is entitled to their opinion. Up until 3D All Stars, I hadn't played Sunshine since 2002. I think I found it okay back then and probably looked more favorably on it than it needed. Or maybe I looked favorably on it just because I yearned for another 3D Mario after 64.

Having had played it again, I remembered it's my least favorite Mario game.

Directs existing or not aren't gonna make me buy a game or not buy a game any more or any less. If the decided to just info dumb Breath of the Wild 2 rather than host a Direct for it, I am not gonna be any less hyped or want the game any less.
