Re: Ubisoft's Switch 2 Physical Release Of Star Wars Outlaws Is A "Game-Key Card"

I'm convinced that if tariff man didn't win these things just wouldn't exist at all. Or at least be way less prevalent. These obviously exist to keep the costs of physical versions as low as possible. Now why would companies suddenly need to think about keeping physical goods from costing so much? What recent occurrences have made all three main gaming companies raise their prices? Gee I wonder.

@Medic_alert Can you explain how game key cards are worse than buying a digital game, then? One is resalable until the servers shut down. One is not. Both become unusable once the servers shut down unless you already have the data downloaded on your system. I just don't get the anger. Still better than full digital. Probably will be cheaper too since used game key cards will be around for at least the next 10ish years until Nintendo closes the servers.

I don't blame Nintendo for the pricing at all. The most powerful person in the World has been talking up his tariffs for a while now. Uncertainty costs. And anyone paying attention has been uncertain about how tariffs will be implemented since at least last summer. You add to that the entire World's post covid inflation. I know it hurts people's feelings, but Nintendo isn't a charity. They're here to make money. And when you price in the inflation and uncertainty around tariffs (not to mention the actual cost of tariffs). None of this is remotely surprising. It's why the entire Post War era was built on stability and predictability. It makes doing business cheaper and makes prices for consumers lower. Maybe someday we'll get back to that.
