@jojobar More specifically. Trade deficits aren't necessarily a bad thing anyway. In fact it's really beneficial to the US that we get cheap crap from China. Instead of manufacturing $9 bedside lamps or $8 HDMI cords we manufacture stuff like complex aerospace and biomedical science technologies.
@RainbowGazelle If publishers don't find it profitable to make physical games for the biggest market (the US) it might very well not be worth the cost to produce them at all. We live in a global economy. A disturbance in one area can have cascading effects across the rest of the World.
I don't play NSO games out of principle. Let me buy them. I knew right away games would be delisted. And I've been completely proven right. If I want to play an old Nintendo game I play it on my Wii or Wii U. Because I bought them, own them, and can still play them. I will never pay for a subscription service for games. Period.
@-wc- It is against the rules to do so. But mostly it doesn’t seem to be enforced with draconian strictness. I think people posting links to things is mostly what is frowned upon.
@batmanbud2 True they would never delist or make any of their good games unplayable. Like Mario 3D All Stars, Pacman 99, Mario 35. They would never allow those games to be delisted or shutdown. I'm not worried about the future either.
Not NSO. Donkey Kong Country Returns is selling like hotcakes. Making that part of a subscription service would be leaving so much money on the table. Also I still like owning games so I can play them after the services shut down.
Nintendo lost two console generations on the choice of storage mediums. The N64 and Gamecube. Both great systems with plenty of power. Done in by Nintendo's insistence on use of proprietary storage mediums. I'm glad we're at the point where actual storage space is no longer an issue regardless of cart or disc.
@Coalescence "because other companies now prefer to sell their own collection packs." So other companies find it profitable to sell their old games. But somehow it wouldn't be for Nintendo?
@Emperor-Palpsy The reason we look back with rose tinted glasses is that we can still play our Wii and Wii U virtual console games we bought to this very day. In fact I was playing Duck Hunt earlier today on my Wii U with my nephew. Now tell me. How's Pacman 99 been doing? What about Mario 35? That's the future of NSO.
@Dee123 Just because your own country has issues doesn't make you unable to criticize the issues of others. Japan absolutely has a toxic work culture. It's a huge reason their suicide rates and birth rates are some of the worst in the World. Expulsion rooms are a part of that toxic culture.
"According to the initial article from Bloomberg, the company had allegedly used 'oidashibeya' – expulsion rooms – to pressure 200 employees into voluntary resignation. Effectively, they would be provided with meaningless work in an effort to demotivate them. Many employees would instead use this time to look for work elsewhere."
@Coversnail Nintendo usually doesn't do one to one conversions of currency for their prices. They usually price each console specifically for the region. So some regions essentially pay more and some pay less. At least that's how it was with the 3ds.
Nintendo needs to find a new team to make Donkey Kong games. Retro is busy now and Rare doesn't exist as far as I'm concerned. But we need more Donkey Kong.
Look at the bright side folks. When NSO inevitably shuts down someday you won't even be able to play classic games on your Switch at all! Thanks Nintendo!

Re: Analyst Fears U.S. Tariffs Could Spell Disaster For Physical Games
@MrCarlos46 Well Trump has already threatened to put tariffs on Japan too. So gamecards being manufactured there might not help for long.

Re: Analyst Expects Switch 2 To Sell Like Hot Cakes In Its First Quarter
Honestly. Unless Nintendo sells at a loss I don't see how on Earth it will retail for less than $450.

Re: Nintendo Confirms Removal Of Switch Online SNES Game
Wii U Virtual Console game delisted: Can still play it today.
NSO game delisted: Cannot still play it today.
See the difference?

Re: Nintendo Switch Online Announces Removal Of Super Famicom Title
@Bunkerneath True. But at least I can still play the ones I bought and downloaded. Subscription services can remove things at any second.
Re: Nintendo Switch Online Announces Removal Of Super Famicom Title
@-wc- Careful. The dark arts of which you hint towards can catch you bans around these parts.

I can still play all of my games from the Wii and Wii U virtual console.
Re: Talking Point: The 3DS Library Is Ripe For Switch 2, But Is NSO The Way To Go?
Not NSO. Donkey Kong Country Returns is selling like hotcakes. Making that part of a subscription service would be leaving so much money on the table. Also I still like owning games so I can play them after the services shut down.

Re: Not Even Squaresoft Could Convince Nintendo To Use Discs For The N64
@PinballBuzzbro So. In the problem with it was that it used cartridges.
Re: Not Even Squaresoft Could Convince Nintendo To Use Discs For The N64
@Axecon I can't believe how huge the file sizes for PS4 and PS5 games are compared to Switch games.
Re: Nintendo Sets Up New Subsidiary In Taiwan
Nintendo of tariff avoidance. More like.
Re: Nintendo "Establishing Ways To Respond" To U.S. Tariffs, Says Furukawa
I fear that physical games will be a casualty of any global trade war. Literal worst timeline.
Re: Poll: Box Art Brawl - Duel: Star Fox 64
The N64 version of Majora's Mask is better than the 3DS one.

Re: Hideki Kamiya Wants Nintendo To Reboot Virtual Console For Switch 2
@Dee123 "Long live NSO." Just like Pacman 99. And Mario 35. And Wii, DS, 3DS, and Wii U online service. So 12ish years if you're lucky.
Re: Hideki Kamiya Wants Nintendo To Reboot Virtual Console For Switch 2

Re: Hideki Kamiya Wants Nintendo To Reboot Virtual Console For Switch 2
Just let me purchase the games on NSO individually. Why is that so hard? Give the consumer the option. It's free money.
Re: Can You Name These Zelda: Majora's Mask Masks?
@N64-ROX The 3DS one changed the design.
Re: Can You Name These Zelda: Majora's Mask Masks?
24/24
And the N64 version is better than the 3DS one.

People complaining about the framerate should play Breath of the Wild on Wii U.

Re: Don't Worry, Nintendo's Thinking About Affordability With Switch 2 Pricing
Hopefully trade war shenanigans won't raise the price. I think $399.99 would be perfectly acceptable.
