@jojobar More specifically. Trade deficits aren't necessarily a bad thing anyway. In fact it's really beneficial to the US that we get cheap crap from China. Instead of manufacturing $9 bedside lamps or $8 HDMI cords we manufacture stuff like complex aerospace and biomedical science technologies.

@RainbowGazelle If publishers don't find it profitable to make physical games for the biggest market (the US) it might very well not be worth the cost to produce them at all. We live in a global economy. A disturbance in one area can have cascading effects across the rest of the World.

Honestly. Unless Nintendo sells at a loss I don't see how on Earth it will retail for less than $450.

I don't play NSO games out of principle. Let me buy them. I knew right away games would be delisted. And I've been completely proven right. If I want to play an old Nintendo game I play it on my Wii or Wii U. Because I bought them, own them, and can still play them. I will never pay for a subscription service for games. Period.

Wii U Virtual Console game delisted: Can still play it today.

NSO game delisted: Cannot still play it today.

See the difference?

@-wc- It is against the rules to do so. But mostly it doesn’t seem to be enforced with draconian strictness. I think people posting links to things is mostly what is frowned upon.

@Bunkerneath True. But at least I can still play the ones I bought and downloaded. Subscription services can remove things at any second.

@batmanbud2 True they would never delist or make any of their good games unplayable. Like Mario 3D All Stars, Pacman 99, Mario 35. They would never allow those games to be delisted or shutdown. I'm not worried about the future either.

Not NSO. Donkey Kong Country Returns is selling like hotcakes. Making that part of a subscription service would be leaving so much money on the table. Also I still like owning games so I can play them after the services shut down.

Nintendo lost two console generations on the choice of storage mediums. The N64 and Gamecube. Both great systems with plenty of power. Done in by Nintendo's insistence on use of proprietary storage mediums. I'm glad we're at the point where actual storage space is no longer an issue regardless of cart or disc.

@Emperor-Palpsy The reason we look back with rose tinted glasses is that we can still play our Wii and Wii U virtual console games we bought to this very day. In fact I was playing Duck Hunt earlier today on my Wii U with my nephew. Now tell me. How's Pacman 99 been doing? What about Mario 35? That's the future of NSO.

Just let me purchase the games on NSO individually. Why is that so hard? Give the consumer the option. It's free money.

@Dee123 Just because your own country has issues doesn't make you unable to criticize the issues of others. Japan absolutely has a toxic work culture. It's a huge reason their suicide rates and birth rates are some of the worst in the World. Expulsion rooms are a part of that toxic culture.

@Coversnail Nintendo usually doesn't do one to one conversions of currency for their prices. They usually price each console specifically for the region. So some regions essentially pay more and some pay less. At least that's how it was with the 3ds.

Hopefully trade war shenanigans won't raise the price. I think $399.99 would be perfectly acceptable.

Honestly I wouldn't be surprised if Xbox is making more money from supporting the Switch than they are on the actual Xbox.

So. The Platinum we knew and loved is basically dead. That's sad.

Nintendo needs to find a new team to make Donkey Kong games. Retro is busy now and Rare doesn't exist as far as I'm concerned. But we need more Donkey Kong.

It's always been astounding to me that Microsoft bought the Banjo IP to not make Banjo games.
