Just last month, it was revealed that Dead or Alive Xtreme 3: Scarlet would soon be making its way to Nintendo Switch. Based on the 2016 release Dead or Alive Xtreme 3, this new Switch version contains some exclusive features, and a new trailer has now arrived to showcase exactly what you'll be getting your hands on when the game launches next year.
Just in case the scantily clad frolicking in general isn't quite enough for you, a new 'Soft 4D' engine has been added especially for Nintendo Switch. Using the Switch's HD Rumble, players will be able to interact with the girls on screen in new ways; apparently, the engine has been designed with the aim of "providing various jiggles" to work in tandem with the visuals on screen. Is it getting hot in here?
The trailer is actually for both the Switch and PS4 versions of the game, so expect to see some footage of the 'VR Paradise' mode for Sony's console, too. All nine girls present in the original game - Kasumi, Momiji, Hitomi, Helena, Marie Rose, Honoka, Nyotengu, Kokoro, and Ayane - will be joined by two extras for a total of eleven this time around, all of which will be able to take part in your chosen sports activities. If it wasn't clear - and we wouldn't blame you for missing it - this game is actually all about playing sports like beach volleyball and, Olympic Games favourite, 'Butt Battle'.
Check it out for yourself below (naturally, this video contains suggestive content).
Dead or Alive Xtreme 3: Scarlet launches in Japan on 20th March 2019; no western release has been confirmed just yet, but we'll make sure to keep an eye out for any more news.
Are you feeling a little excited for this one, or are you covering up your poor Joy-Con's IR camera before it gets anywhere near that Soft 4D gameplay? Let us know below.

"Nintendo is for kids"
Boobs everywhere....
Definitely going to have to import. Purely just to test the technology in the joycons, of course!
Wasn't sure before...now definite day 1 purchase
Do we know if the Japanese version will have English support or not yet? Keen to import if it does.
I wan’t sure what facial expression I should make while watching this. My face was very confused.
Well... I was just saying that the HD Rumble was an under utilized feature that deserves more attention.
But little did I know what all that would actually entail.
Why is Nintendo Life interested in this game? you're gonna give it a 4 when you review it anyways.
More jiggles please.
@simevidas They’re just boobs. There’s nothing really confusing about those!! LOL
Yes please! So is this not coming to US?
Looks like that's where all that sex appeal from DoA6 had missing went to now
Oh noooo...
This is not okay...
I can't help feeling we've strayed a little from the original premise of 'dead or alive' here...
Considering recent events, I'll just say this: the game as a right to exist, and I think it's good that the Switch version appears to be uncensored.
With that said, it's not my sort of thing, so I'll be passing on it.
Just remember the Dreamcast Dead or Alive 2, in the options was jiggle 1-99 or something like that, was the last time i played one of these games
Lol that 4d feature is mad wouldn’t think Nintendo would allow it . Used to make me laugh on the Dreamcast version of DOA 2 if you put your age as 99
@Bunkerneath beat me to it 😃
I might buy it just to keep my general anime degenerate status I've held since becoming an anime fan since 1991.
Game will be a damn trash heap though.
This really isn't for me but I hope it gets localised, there seems to be an audience for this sort of thing...
Its weird that violence in video games is now widely accepted, even on Nintendo systems but sexy bodys in sexy costumes is still heavily criticized like a taboo subject. WTF??
F*** political correctness. Nothing wrong with men enjoying female bodys in videogames and vice versa.
Eh, I got better things to do.
No real Dead or Alive fighting game port is such a misoppportunity. Well at least the Japanese will enjoy this though.
Make a guy version next and I might consider a purchase! 😉
I'll be back at work around the time an imported copy would arrive, so it could be the perfect chill game to play on the train.
The Dead or Alive Xtreme games always have something hilarious added in each entry.
If only I were 18 again before I began pursuing real girls lol. This would be at the top of my list, and ain't ashamed to say it lol!
Joy-Cons, innocent? After SK Reflexions release?
@InklingLegend
Thats even worse!!!
I bet you feel a tit playing this game.
I wish these games were fun sports minigames compilations, and the girls just wore bikinis but that was all erotic-wise. Wouldn't it be nice if the sports games were nicely done?
@KingdomHeartsFan So it’s the perfect platform for you? (Sorry. I saw the opportunity and couldn’t resist)
100% gonna try to get in a preorder of the CE when I get paid!
@Fuz Was a casino in the Vita version. You could play Black Jack, Poker and Roulette (I think that was the name. Betting on coulors and a marble spinning and those who betted on the right place wins)
Sweet! Yay! Sweet wasn't enough apparently.
The fact that you can't play this with only the left joy-con is a deal-breaker.
@Bunkerneath @Gs69
You could also put your copy of DOA2 into a PC and get exclusive pictures of the girls in lingerie.
@HeroponRiki Sales would double if they patched that in.
@burninmylight Wow, did not know that!!!! Damn I sold my copy to a mate years ago, booooo
This is game of the year material.
I'm not interested in this but I would play a real DoA game if it were made available.
@burninmylight well I didn’t know that suppose it’s worth a try 😀
The appeal of this game is absolutely lost on me.
@NintendoLifer23 the main problem people see with it is that games where male characters get interactive bouncing pecs and balls and are almost all naked and posing sexually for you while moaning and smacking their butts together etc. barely exist. People look at gaming and see women made as sex objects in sports games, fighting games, RPGs etc whereas male characters aren’t treated anywhere near the same.
There’s no ‘vice versa’ because it’s pretty much only for those that like women.
Put over a hundred hours into the first one on XBox. Never managed to get any of the girls into the tiniest of the bikinis though.
To all the people complaining this is just soft core porn, if it's anything like the first then there's a lot more to it than that.
To all the people complaining that this is better than violence, it's the one sided nature of it that's offensive. If it was possible to perv on the hunky men of DOA (and watch their packages jiggle) then it'd be fine, but it's sexist to just objectify the girls and not the boys.
@Sabroni haha yes everyone likes to pretend that there’s mainstream naked, hyper sexualised men in every game and pretend like they don’t understand that the one-sided nature is what makes it sexist and gross to many
@EasyDaRon .... that’s exactly what I’m saying. I’m saying that people like to pretend that men are sexualised to the same level these girls are to justify these games when female and gay gamers dislike these games becuase it’s emblematic of an industry that only serves one demographic.
Opens IE with Start InPrivate Browsing
I don’t see why it didn’t include all of the female characters from DOA. Tina? Lisa? Lei Fang?
@Peterjr1 There are sexualised guys in figthing games too, and as far as I know, there are more otome Visual novel games than bishoujo visual novels aviable in English. Thou, its not EVERY game. Just like not every game includes fanservice for me either.
And I would say topless guys count as fanservice, in the same way the ability to put the girls in RPGs in bikinis.
Still waiting for Star Trek Generations Holodeck which will be used just like today's internet
lol I love how people bash these games' "bad gameplay". I can't imagine the volley ball has gotten less well made since the first game, which had fantastic, if not the best, volley ball gameplay in any game.
I guess it's fair game to call these games out as sexist, even though its technically not. Not having sexualized characters of both genders is not sexist. The game in no way attempts to disparage women. It's just a cheap marketing gimmick that DOA has been using since the first DOA came out.
People really need to learn that it's okay to make fantasies. Just because no one is currently making your personal fantasy doesn't make their fantasy a less valid pursuit. You could always, I dunno, learn to make video games? If there was a market for DOA Extreme Beach Men's Volleyball, I guarantee you it would be made.
@tobibra ‘but VNs!’ Is like the ‘BUT HER EMAILS’ of nintendolife sexualisation conversations. I’ll reiterate that I’m not referring to VNs, I’m referring to RPGS (like Xenoblade 2, like all the others), fighting games, sports games, even shooters like Paladins (multiple female characters where their designs for skins and such are crippled by the fact that almost every single skin has to have the same low level of clothing, also Skye literlaly just got a rework to make her boobs and butt bigger). Big name brands that feature hyper sexualised female designs and characters.
As someone else described, a shirtless guy is not comparable to the extent that games like this, like Xenoblade, Paladins etc sexualize their female characters.
I really need to stop commenting about this stuff on here becuase all the response it gets is name calling at me or people telling me to play VNs
@KcebEnyaw can’t know the market for something you’ve never tried releasing
@EvilLucario to be fair that such of titilation is pretty immature
@Peterjr1 You can. It's very easy to focus group something like that. You can also tell easily by looking at your fans and realizing only two or three of your male characters are half as popular as your female characters. You don't need to make a game to know it wont sell.
But like I said. It is not on current developers to make games that people are complaining don't exist. It is on the people who are complaining to make those games and prove the market.
The plot is deep in this one.
I have the PS4 version with VR cause science and stuff but that Volleyball game is crazy hard!
@Rika_Yoshitake I think we all know why anyone would be interested it.
LOL.... I love that the hoola hoop game doesn't even show the thing spinning, it's out of frame. It is all about those bouncy fun-bags, which is how mature people like myself refer to women's breasts.
BayWatch, oh my!
This still looks good for a laugh. So will wait and see what will happen
Import it..for science
@RadioHedgeFund M-rated games are immature, true maturity is in E-rated games :^]
AHUM.... whas reading the comment, it suprises me that no one talked about the gameplay/mini games etc mmmmmm 🤣😂🤣😂
NintenBOOBS
Nintendo deleted snakes and samus ass. But here the boobs are maxed out mmm.
@tobibra The Vita is filled to the brim with otome localisations, as an example.
Day 1 buy! Hope it gets released in the west or at least some English support in the Japanese version.
@MysticGengar I didn't know you were being forced to get this at knife point.
@mikegamer
Me niether!
@w00dm4n They actually censored the VR mode for PS4; there was going to be a "touching" mode, but it was removed. Also, I guess you already know, but Sony are censoring all of these types of games now on their platforms.
@yuwarite I didnt play the game much, I bought Summer Lesson which was amazing. I don't have a problem with them censoring stuff. Im not a fan of the 4000 year old 13 year old girl stuff.
And now we see why the Joycons needed all that technology packed in.....
I'm....not looking forward to the "it prints money" gif for this one.....
And yet no doa fighter.
So far no NA so it's either Amazon JPN or PA. Whom would've guess that our only choices here.
Errr ok, no problem but is there a game in there? They know the real appeal if they can't be bother to show the core gameplay.
Putting those Joy-cons to good use. Thanks, Nintendo.
I knew the joycons would turn out to be useful for something other than staying forever attached to the console!
boing boing boing boing

@EasyDaRon Another thing to counter you is that Video games are not real things!
Like seriously I view video games differently from reality! Enough said.
@simevidas Your face was confused? Must have looked like this:
@Peterjr1 Seriously.....Video games and Reality is different.....Like I have to admit I like to see girls where some less clothing in games from time to time..... but in reality I don't think like that......people needs to give this nonsense a rest and let the people like what they like in video games.
The old games were actually played for the volleyball by some of us who missed the 8-bit Volleyball on NES This trailer.... seems volleyball is now just a excuse to showcase the ladies. Why not make it a photo simulator or similar? Well, I know why, people need an excuse to buy the game
I can only imagine buying this game and showing it to my friends and colleagues... might be a hoot actually. A hoot that would leave me friendless and sued by my coworkers haha.
We live in a time where Nintendo allows this on the Switch but Sony is censoring this kind of content on their system.
@EasyDaRon Honestly it is just best to just ignore about those things you hate in video games.....because pretty sure the majority of players does not get affected by a video game of what is showing in it and then make it a reality for them. And that is all good to me, because I accept what other people likes about in video games, because I am not worried about them....
I am more worried about people trying to use force to remove things from video games that they think is "right"......because that does not help at all....it will cause more chaos. I guaranteed it.
@IceEarthGuard I absolutely agree with you. If we remove everything someone does not like, there won't be many, if any games left.
@brunojenso If the gameplay is similar to the Vita version, the volleyball part of the game is fun.
@Peterjr1 So you dismiss VN's just because they prove there actually are fanservice for you?
@tobibra no I dismiss VNs because they’re one genre and are an extremely niche genre. Stop purposefully misconstruing everything I say
@IceEarthGuard - It's amusing upon reflection. All these years we defended the games as they're not the cause of violence in adolescence and school shootings. And many researchers found there is no connection.
But a sexy body existing in any game will teach misogyny and sexism, not just to those consuming said media, but adjacent? I get that some people feel it's one sided (cause the market dictated that with sales), but this is ridiculous. Which is it?
It's also been a thing with loot boxes (which I hate). Ban them on the premise of capitalizing on one's addictions, but much overlap is coming from those who also want to legalize all drugs cause it's a "choice."
Hypocrisy at a fine tuned level in the games industry right now.
But on a defense; I personally wouldn't oppose a man-meat led game for the ladies (and some men). I personally wouldn't play it, cause I am not its market. The issue is many of these developers aren't entirely swimming in money. Expecting them to essentially make a super niche game is basically asking them to sacrifice themselves for the moral good. Then that's a few jobs gone for the sake of it. I would say start talking up an indie studio about making such a market.
@Peterjr1 I apologize if something I wrote hurt you, but all I did was pointing out that VN's has fanservice for you. And shirtless dudes feeling fanservice for me. And commenting on the fact that you just dismissed all VN's.
I hope the FBI keeps track of anyone who buys this.
@Bunkerneath there was a dead or alive extreme beach volleyball back on Xbox that was like this too.
@StevenG why?
@Peterjr1 It's because more men play video games than women, and most men don't want to see sexualized men.
This game doesnt interest me at all, but reading these comments, especially in light with what Sony is doing, I have discovered that it is the mainstream American audience that is what is harmful to video games.
And potentially even racist for attempting to censor Japanese culture to suit prudish western tastes.
@EvilLucario ‘Marurity’ in video games has long been a point of contention. I would never describe a game like GTA as particularly mature because of the almost cartoonish level of violence aimed squarely at a teenage market which is hardly a barometer of maturity.
Conversely a properly mature game might be something like The Last of Us which deals with some pretty grown up themes, or the latest God of War, which isn’t mature due to the level of violence, but how it portrays the father/son relationship between Kratos and Atreus.
Ironically I’d probably say the most mature game I’ve played is Animal Crossing. You have to worry about being responsible for others, paying off debt and regularly weed the garden!
@Zelda79 Ya it is Joker Jesus.
I like how in every news article when it's about sexy girls, all these people just comes out to try and justify the double standards. I like how girls with big boob is consider a big problem, it "sexualise" girls and everything. No girls with big boobs doesn't have to be compare girls with their want flapping around because that is not what people find hot. If you guys have to compare I think guys in tight tank top with muscles blowing out of the shirt or top naked massively muscular men is comparable. Can't believe this isn't even brought up with all these talks about women bring sex objects in games. We fantasis about sexy girls just as much as girls fantasis their skinny nerd boyfriend can one day become let say ... Jin from tekken who's like almost always half naked. People always argue that women in games does not reflect what women is like in real life but I think I can say the same for guys. I don't see your average men going down the screen half naked and massively muscular, beating down bad guys and destroying cars. Everything in games are suppose to be like art works, every piece reflects on what the artist is like. It's unreal and it's a fantasy of the developers, if you can't even express your desires and dreams via unrealistic games then I have no idea what has this world have become.
@RadioHedgeFund Being serious here, I'd agree there. Honestly I don't care about the whole "maturity" thing though. Video games are video games and while I'm all for looking at games as art like Super Metroid's expansive world (and how pretty much every game is trying to replicate that world even 20 years on), they're still entertainment to appeal to all sorts of people, even the "immature" guys. I don't care about maturity when I'm playing as some silly plumber jumping on mushrooms and plants or some well-endowed girl doing whatever.
Which is why I don't get Sony doing some censoring stuff since that'll just mean no one will buy that stuff on their system while facing vitriol against people, since one of the bigger selling points would be gone.
@Jokerwolf they're interested for the wrong reasons
@MysticGengar Poor you
@StevenG Oh grow up and quite your whinging
Won’t somebody please make one of these with men
Is the volleyball in this actually any good? Reviews said DoAX2 volleyball was ruined due to a bad camera.
@EvilLucario Sony censoring things is down to several reasons. In the current climate of women (rightfully) wanting to be properly represented culturally and professionally a game like DOAX3 is just in bad taste.
I dont get the cultural excuse. Women don’t deserve to be seen purely as sex objects (neither do men) and any game that glorifies such behaviour is out of touch with the modern world.
@RadioHedgeFund Again, you're trying to force your views on others while declaring others views as inferior.
You're on the internet. Take a look around for a few minutes before you get offended by a video game.
@Yosher I imagine being asexual would do that to you.
@MysticGengar THIS IS FINE BY ME MY BOI
I love the defense of freedom of developers here.
So next time devolpers choose characters to be gay or bi, I expect a much better reaction than in the past now that well understand that censorship is wrong and devs are free to do what they like with their characters!
@saintayu haha exactly. The Booby Defense Squad tend to be the kind of straight men that hate LGBT and other minorities (as demonstrated above with people ranting about ‘political correctness’ and such) and cry about ‘why do characters have to have sexuality?’ when a character is anything other than straight.
Evidence: see the reaction to any Nintendo life article about racism or sexuality such as the Birdo one and the Mr Game and Watch one.
I'm sure Sony will find some way to censor something in this...best to get this for the Switch.
@RadioHedgeFund At the end of the day, pushing aside all notions of "being politically correct" or tasteful or whatever, it'll just lead people to not buy the game on their system, so if anything Sony's still just shooting themselves in the foot there and they're still getting heat over this. I'd maybe understand it for Sony IPs for self-censoring, but these are third-parties that Sony/Nintendo barely have much to do with anything. I don't see this game or similar other games attracting much people outside of the target demographic. It's only one thing with sensual content, but if it escalates to a slippery slope along with the crossplay thing still not 100% embracing where Sony wants more control at the expense of everything else, that's not going to look as good for next generation.
Then again Sony is the golden goose of the games industry. Compare the reactions to Sony bowing out of E3 2019 entirely to the reactions of Nintendo bowing out of E3 live presentations for example, where people spelt doom and gloom for Nintendo while a select few were saying it was smart for Sony without realizing the ridiculous double standards.
@saintayu I mean... yeah? Those are kinda separate things I'd think. I don't think there's much overlap between homophobes and people that these types of games attract. Or maybe I'm out of touch with bigotry.
shut up and take my money.
@Peterjr1
They don’t have to be “equal”. It’s a product in a market. There’s more women because the majority of the consumers buying the product are inclined toward women.
It’s as simple as that.
When 50% of gamers on consoles are women, you might see that change. But as of right now the vast majority of gamers are men, and the vast majority of men are straight, ergo, vast majority of games cater to the majority audience. It’s not sexist, it’s sex appeal for the majority audience.
Simple economic principle.
@Jango296 -I really do find hip-hop/rap a different kettle of fish, but we're not different in the way we're both thinking about it. However, I have noted people "liking it for the beat" seem to have a bit of overlap with similar thinking processes over fictional characters.
Like I said, I have no qualms with characters being gay, bi, hunky man-meat. You don't see them much simply cause the market for them is so ridiculously small. And the disconnect is people thinking those that are making X game should be also making Y game to compensate, which is ultimately development suicide. Especially when the group expects the sales to compare well with one as established, it's what Marvel Comic is (hopefully) learning about.
I'd definitely start tapping the shoulders of independent dev teams see if they're on board with those smaller markets and encourage them to grow. The issue is, because there was so many who made outrageous claims of things like Anita's "Everything is sexist" remark to people literally tackling milk and air conditioning, it's no wonder we got just as bad lunacy counter-weight thinking someone making a homosexual character as "SJW-drven agendas."
Imagine Fear Effect going literally nowhere if it was made in today's climate. And that, my friend, is sad.
@Jango296
You can't support Creator and developer freedom than put terms on it. That's the very definition of hypocritical. You either support their right to make decisions fullu or you are part of the problem you're complaining about.
But you already know that. Fighting "censorship" makes you the very definition of your own enemy and boogymen, the SJW.
@InklingLegend you're just a kid.
I'm no fan of DOA, but I don't really see the issue with games like this existing (outside of it being kind of a goofy concept). There's no evidence that video games promote sexism any more than there is evidence that video games promote violence. Stuff like this is like the gaming equivalent of those trashy romance novels that target women; it's just whatever. And no, the male equivalent wouldn't be muscular guys in thongs because most women don't find "more skin" alone to be appealing in the way men do.
That said, anyone else find it kind of dumb that these games are clearly all about sexuality, but they don't involve any sort of actual nudity? I don't really get what the point is then. If you're gonna do porn, then do it!
@saintayu Yep. Developers should be free to do what they want. The SJWs are the ones trying to ban elements from games. Look at the firestorm recently about someone hitting a womens suffrage lady then hog tying her and feeding her to an alligator in RDR2. It's a rockstar game. You know what you're buying. If the people don't like the content of a game, simply do not buy it. Unfortunately, it seems both left and right fascism is making a comeback in western society.
@TriforceBun idk. Probably because AO is the mark of death. Real talk: why do people want this when there is free internet porn?
@TriforceBun If they did that, it would def be Adults Only meaning it can't release on consoles at all. Though, some costumes do come pretty close. There's always mods if anyone wants to do that.
I call this the true jigglypuff....
God dammit it's a game with some boobs in it, get some perspective people. Movies and music videos have been sexualized for years.
Wow that volleyball sure looked extreme. You all noticed the extremeness of the volleyball right guys... guys?
I love it.
I like how it successfully combines boobs and physics. They get a bad rep as a team. The world needs more boob positivity
Seal of approval!
Anyone who buys this game REALLY needs to get a girlfriend.
Remember guys and gals. Boobs and sex appeal are EVIL AND DEMEANING. It's only ok to sexualize men, half naked with equally unrealistic bodies.
Remember, all men are animals and showing them this will automatically turn them into sexist, rapists who will attack women on site.
And remember, gamers are too stupid to seperate reality from fiction. Politicians who haven't played a game since the 1980s said so. And we all know politicians ABSOLUTELY NEVER LIE AND ARE COMPLETELY IN TOUCH WITH THE AVERAGE PERSON!
If you disagree clearly you too are a sexist pig and likely a rapist.
#satire
They are not real.
@Trajan
@HollowGrapeJ
Maybe, but don't games like God of War and Witcher III already have topless women (and are still M-rated)? The weird thing is, people aren't even buying those games for their sexuality, while a game like this--in which the ladies are clearly the focus--doesn't show as much skin as God of War? It's very strange. Maybe a Japanese/Western dev thing.
@JayJ anyone making such comments are the very same one without a girlfriend.
@TriforceBun EU and JPN have a better grasp of skins flick then the US so called fairy tale stories they tell themselves at night when cheating on their spouses.
This game aside, I still say the female chest is the equivalent of the male chest, and there are of course plenty of games featuring the latter. Society just (wrongly, in my opinion) thinks one is more sexual than the other, probably because women started using bras for support, and anything hidden away becomes forbidden to an extent. A "jiggling package" isn't the equivalent of "jiggling boobs" - there aren't games focusing on the groin of either gender!
To all those comments about these games being only an excuse to objectify women, well, I won't say you're wrong. And I agree that you don't see men portrayed the same in games or other media, but there is a very logical reason for that : most women don't fantasize about men the same way men do about women.
Yes, these games aren't portraying women in a realistic way. No women are and act like this in real life. And yes, this may have a negative impact on the way some men think about women the same way cheap romance novels, shows and movies may affect how some women think about men, as they too, mostly aren't portraying men in a realistic way. In both cases, women and men are portrayed in ways that aren't reflective of real life. It's just that women are objectified in a more sexual manner, but it the end, both men and women end up being presented wrong and false images that affect how they should perceive the opposite sex.
No women are like this. And no men are like what's described in romance novels made for women.
Not saying either is right, or that one is worse or better than the other. Is sexually objectifying women is worse than objectifying men in a non-sexual way? In both cases, it's showing a false image of reality that can influence one's perception. In both cases, it is fantasy (although a different one) that is sold to a specific gender.
@Trajan they aren't alone. I saw the reaction to The Last Of Us and that Baldur's gate expansion. Censorship is, as always, alive and well on both sides of the political landscape.
@SwitchForce There is no need to get all high and mighty about a perverse game.
Yesss, the world is saved!
Oh yeah, that's the stuff...
