First-person exploration indie hit Gone Home has finally arrived on Nintendo Switch, and there's one rather significant change that can be spotted with a close attention to detail.
If you're unfamiliar with the game, Gone Home has you play as a young woman exploring an empty house. Along the way, you can pick up - and sometimes interact with - certain items, which can either help to progress the story or simply provide more information to the game's backstory. The game has always featured made-up video games, available to pick up in one of the house's rooms, but Nintendo has allowed Fullbright Studios to include mock-ups of real SNES games.

As you can see, the in-game character has copies of Super Mario Kart, Donkey Kong Country, and The Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past - a predictable, but very solid, collection. Before you get ahead of yourselves, though, the games can't actually be loaded up and played GameCube Animal Crossing-style, but seeing the titles appear will still be a cool little moment for Nintendo fans, we're sure.
Have you played Gone Home? Have you picked it up for Switch? You can check out our review of the game right here.

If it would be possible to play these games in Gone Home, it would be an instant buy.
@krvstkvlt Yeah, that would actually add some gameplay to it.
That is kinda cool, as I'm sure others will say, if they were playable, I'm sure many more people would buy it as it would be a virtual console replacement

Underrated comment right here, lol. I own this PoS on PC
And yet the one game referenced directly multiple times, that one isn't in there.
(I love Gone Home but seriously, missed opportunity there...)
Reminds me a little of the Gamecube on the shelf in MGS Twin Snakes.
Not a bad choice of 3 snes games that's for sure! Only other I would add is Super Metroid and Super Mario world as the systems most iconic 5 titles.
Wasn't planning on picking this up for Switch, I already have it elsewhere, but this is definitely a fun little detail.
If these had been emulated games then Gone Home might actually be worth buying.
Neat touch.
That's actually a really cool touch. I haven't played this yet but I want to. I might wait until a sale on either Steam or the Switch though as I have plenty to play.
@wonderclassic They would've had to contact Capcom for permission to use Street Fighter 2
Really they need the holy trinity of Super Mario World, Super Metroid and Link to the Past. The other games are great too though!
Nice.
