If you like Nintendo games, and you just so happen to be interested in speedrunning, then this year's Awesome Games Done Quick event could well be for you.
Every year since 2010, January has played host to this live-streamed event on Twitch. The show is a video game speedrun charity marathon where speedrunners take it in turns to demonstrate their ridiculously talented ways, beating games in the quickest times possible. The purpose of the event is to raise money for certain charities (this year will once again be funding for the Prevent Cancer Foundation), with viewers being encouraged to donate to the cause should they have the means to do so as events unfold.
Last year's stream generated an amazing $2,295,191 for the charity, breaking its own record which had been set the year before. This year's stream is taking place from 6th - 13th January and a full games schedule has now been shared. You can view the full schedule here to see specific times for your area; we've included just a handful of the Nintendo-based highlights for you below.

When I saw the thumbnail, I tought there was an announcement of Super Mario Sunshine HD....! Now I'm a bit dissapointed
I love GDQ. It opened this year with Hollow Knight. Incredible to watch someone beat a boss in 10 seconds that took me about 2 hours to do!
If you've never seen a speedrun of Mario Sunshine before then I highly recommend that you do - the level of skill involved is breathtaking. Really looking forward to the Mario Odyssey Darker Side run too.

Super Mario Sunshine - GameCube / Luigi's Mansion - GameCube / The Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past - SNES"
Satuday ??
@Ovedo I literally was reaching for my wallet... but no. The lack of gamecube availability in the e-shop for going on nearly a decade is insane.
@Ovedo haha, nope. Gotta keep your mind in check
Someone let me know when something really cringey happens. It usually does.
Time to grap some beer and watch others go crazy on some classic games. I wish I had the time to speed run games.
Nice lineup! Can't wait to see some records broken!
Looking forward to the reverse boss Super Metroid run at the end. Definitely.
Well, looks like I will have something to watch the next few weeks at night again. Love watching people systematically breaking games to their own advantage (and speed).
@Dezzy you mean the entire event?
@CrazyMetroid
Yup, it got too controlling and corporate for my tastes, plus my four favorite runners were banned. Haven't watched it since 2016.
