I have the physical Switch 1 version and am certainly going to upgrade to the Switch 2 version - the game is painful to play in 30fps! I don't see the upgrade pack to preorder on the eShop yet though...
I didn’t notice an electronic smell, but did notice a fairly strong plastic smell when I was setting it up and playing for the first time. Smelled like ‘new plastic’, though I haven’t smelled the vent yet.
My invite arrived around 10am. Got on the website, pre-ordered the MK bundle plus a Pro Controller and Gamecube Controller. Hope the payment works properly so it doesn't get cancelled at the last minute!
I had Tomba on a demo disc for my PS1 back in the day. I thought it was quite bizarre, and enjoyed the demo (though never bought the full version). Might pick it up if it's coming to Switch.
I tried the game on emulator many years ago, and didn’t particularly like it. I’m not a fan of RPGs with turn based battles, although I did quite like Paper Mario on N64! Don’t think I’ll be getting the remake.
Isn't that larger than the largest available Switch cartridge? Does that mean people with physical will need to download part of the game before it can be played?
This mode really needs a lot of reworking. The way the matches are set up really favours the attacking team, and pretty much ensures that the team who is in the lead at half-time ends up losing. I wonder why Nintendo couldn't have done 4v4v4; after all Mario Kart can support 12 players in a lobby at once!
I've had the Hover wisp mess up and do the seizure-inducing flashing colors (although it cleared up afterwards). Also had one stage where Sonic was glowing neon blue. No actual crashes yet though. My Switch is original and completely un-modded too!
I'm sure it would be simple enough for a company like Nintendo to modify the game so that the Game Corner has a 'permanently closed' sign on it, or all the machines are out of order so you can't play them. Can't wait to see what European versions of games come out in the near future with all the gambling elements removed...
So, no need to buy a new 4K TV or new console. I'm happy with my current Switch and 1080p TV; also have a USB Ethernet adapter plugged into my dock. I do often play handheld though...
I always prefer an actual physical copy when possible. The main reason being that if I hate it (unlikely) or get bored of it, I can then sell it or trade it in to get credit towards newer games! Personally I don't see the appeal of buying a physical box with a download code inside - it's just a waste of plastic and space on your shelf! Why not just buy the download code on a small piece of paper?
It sounds like that CyberFX thing that came out in the 1990s that was essentially a giant Fresnel lens in front of your eyes. That didn't work at all, and nor will this...
From the name, I'm guessing the Bloblobber is like those Octarian guns that shoot bouncing blobs of ink. From the picture it appears to function somewhat like a Slosher. The Nautilus would appear to be some kind of Splatling, though the charge time and range is unknown yet.
I liked the original Spyro games on PSOne, but went off the series after becoming a Nintendo fan. I don't have a PS4 or Xbox, so would love for Spyro to come to Switch!
They need to add an option to show your Salmon Run records - last 50 matches played, total wins, most number of eggs etc. Just like with the Turf/Ranked match list...
The video capture for me appears to be 720p, 30fps - although it does appear to be dropping frames occasionally, particularly when Splatoon 2 is very hectic. Average bitrate is 5Mbit/sec. Nowhere near as good as my Elgato capture card, but if something amazing happens in a game I'm glad we can keep a recording of it!
When I first had the Switch I was getting weird battery issues; the Switch would auto power off when the battery was still over 20%! Seemed to sort itself out after a while though, and never had any problems since. I do tend to run the battery down quite far before charging it up fully though.
I'm in Europe (UK) and there's no sign of a demo. I have the original on Wii U though; played it to death so I'm certainly not getting the full game on Switch.
I use an HD60 for capturing Wii U and Switch. Had a couple of minor problems, but always found workarounds and have been capturing videos happily ever since. Just one little niggle - it's not obvious in the software whether it's actually recording or not; a slightly different shade of red on the button. So occasionally I get out of sync, starting each recording when the match ends and stopping it when the next match starts!
I'm not a fan of fighting games (so didn't get Smash or Pokken) but did try a couple of the TestPunch sessions. It was fun the first few matches, but I saw it as more of a novelty that quickly wore off.
I had a rather complex setup so the game sound would come through my headset, but the microphone would go to the computer so I could commentate on my videos. I may get this, if Nintendo fixes the issue where plugging something into the headphone jack mutes the TV sound (and thus the recording)...
I'm not too interested in ARMS myself; never been much of a fan of fighting games. I'll give the Test Punch a try but I can't see myself buying the full game.
What's more annoying is that when you plug something into the Switch's headphone socket while docked, it cuts off the TV sound completely! I like to record my gameplay with headphones so I can hear it properly, and the headphone port on the Gamepad was an easy way of doing this - no-go with the Switch, though...
Probably going to get it, but disappointed about the lack of any kind of chat system. It could at least support USB keyboards for text chat... Until Nintendo launches their smartphone chat system, I guess it'll be Discord for me!
They certainly haven't fixed that glitch where Guardians can fall through the ground... Maybe they fixed the Blood Moon so it can't happen during boss fights (or side quest objectives) and mess them up.
I still play, but nowhere near as much as I used to. After I caught all the common G2s, the game's lost its appeal again. I still play daily, but only to get the catch streak bonus (I live nowhere near a Pokestop)
I'm wondering if it was P2P or not, because during my final game everyone disconnected one by one as the server was turned off. Surely if it was P2P it would have allowed us to finish the match?
My overall impression is that it's little more than an expansion pack for Splatoon 1. That's not necessarily a bad thing; if you've got a winning formula, stick with it! Of course, we'll have to wait and see what kind of extra content you get in the full game, and I'll certainly be buying it.
I just tested my Joy-Con distance. With the console on my bed, I had good connection even after I left the room. I could still control the game even from the window on the landing! When I went into another bedroom though, it lost connection - so probably not one of the affected ones.
Looks to me like the Splat Dualies are closest to the Aerospray; the weapon I normally use for Turf these days. I used to swear by the roller though, and will certainly be giving that a try during the Testfire!
I hear that the Testfire demo is available for download from the US eShop right now. No sign of it in the EU eShop yet... I don't want to have to make a JP or US account just to get it!
It looks to me like it was printed on the circuit board as an easter egg to anyone who opened up the controller (for repairs etc). It's just a coincidence that you can see it through the analog stick!
I got my Pro Controller the day before release from the Nintendo Store. The console itself, along with Zelda, arrived at about 11am on the 3rd - despite only having been despatched in the evening from Amazon!
My Pro Controller arrived today from the official Nintendo store. Can't use it yet though, as I haven't got the Switch! Amazon say it should arrive tomorrow...
This is the same chemical that's often found in things like household cleaners to deter children from tasting them. Wonder if it's just as disgusting to pets as well?
I have a 128GB card ready to go on day one; tested it to make sure it's not a fake or anything. I also plan to go physical for most of my games, unless there's a significant price cut on the digital versions.
Disc rot is nothing new. As far back as the late 1980s, laserdiscs (10-inch CDs that could hold 60 minutes of video) were suffering from the rot problem. The worst case I've ever seen is when the silver layer actually peeled away completely, leaving a clear plastic disc!
This is fantastic news! I wanted to try out Splatoon 2 but didn't want to have to go to one of the regional events... now I can try it out in the comfort of my own home! I'll probably try playing in handheld mode for the daytime sessions, and docked for the evening sessions (possibly recording it too). Either 7pm or 8pm UK time would be perfect for me.
Not really interested in this game, but if there's this big a price difference for other games I may well go digital! Always gone for physical in the past though...
I was hoping the MicroSD slot would be under a screwed-down panel (like on the New 3DS) to protect it from damage and accidental removal. Good to see that the game card slot has a cover over it. These photos show a non-functional display unit, so it's possible things will change with the real Switch.
Got my pre-order with Amazon the moment it went live, and not changing anything now. I just want the game - don't care too much about T-shirts, posters, pin badges and other bonuses.
Does the MacBook Air have a replaceable battery? No. Do you see people complaining about it? I think non-replaceable batteries are pretty much the norm these days for electronic equipment, particularly at consumer level. I plan to use the Switch docked most of the time; it's too expensive to risk carrying around everywhere. At home, I'll always be in range of a mains outlet if the battery runs low!
