Re: Guide: The Best Nintendo Switch Micro SD Cards

Tom41

I have a 64GB Sandisk MicroSD that I'm currently using in my GoPro. But I very rarely fill it up, so might use that for the Switch to begin with.
Just be wary, there are MANY fake MicroSD cards out there (much smaller than the advertised capacity) and even the big retailers have trouble telling them apart from real ones!

Re: Miyamoto on the Reasoning Behind Super Mario Run's Pricing

Tom41

I'm not too bothered about paying $10 if it's going to be a good game. But I would have preferred if the game had a free demo (perhaps with limited use like the ones on the eShop) so you could decide for yourself. If you like the game, then pay the one-off fee to unlock the full game!

Re: Callie and Marie Join a New Splatoon amiibo Range on 8th July

Tom41

I'm getting the Callie and Marie amiibos as soon as they go up for pre-order on the Nintendo UK store! The others I'm not so sure about - depends if they have different functionality to the originals, such as unlocking new missions for single player. If not, then I'll stick with my originals.

Re: Rumour: New Nintendo NX Controller Images Surface and Set the Web Alight

Tom41

If this is the final design for the controller, I may not even bother getting an NX. Where are the action buttons? It's just not the same fighting in Zelda or jumping in Mario without pressing a physical button (I don't care too much for smartphone games; they just don't feel right). Perhaps the time is right for me to consider switching to one of the other console manufacturers...

Re: Infinity Runner

Tom41

This looks intriguing, like a first person shooter without the shooting. But I really don't care for FPS games, and this one looks like it also has the obligatory nausea-inducing shaky cam, so probably giving it a miss...

Re: Twilight Princess HD Nearly Had Wii Remote Controls

Tom41

It would have been nice if they'd given us the option to use the Wii Remote, for people who played the Wii version and are used to the controls. But Gamepad controls are still really good. Maybe they could add it in an update, with the option to switch between Wii Remote and Gamepad as a controller.

Re: Nintendo Download: 6th November (Europe)

Tom41

Even though I have Toki Tori already for both Wiiware and Wii U, I think I'll still get the 3DS version particularly as it's cheap! Not too sure about the two new Wii U downloads though...

Re: Splatoon 'Octoling' Modder Could Cause Save Data Problems

Tom41

So if your save happens to get soft-locked by an Octoling hacker and you've recently made a backup to USB (I do almost daily), can you copy the USB backup back to your console and get all your progress back? Or would that result in having to start the game over from the beginning?

Re: Nintendo UK Planning Massive Marketing Push For Splatoon

Tom41

I went to see Tomorrowland yesterday, and there was a Splatoon commercial before the movie. Thankfully they didn't have any of those stupid songs! I've also seen a brief TV spot promoting the game, not to mention banner ads on many sites I visit that link to the official Nintendo UK store.

Re: Poll: Did The Splatoon Global Testfire Hit Its Targets?

Tom41

It was a fun experience and I've already pre-ordered the full game. I had a couple of occasions where it said 'session full' or 'communication error' when looking for players, but never in mid-game. No noticeable lag, but there were several times I got a double-KO (splatted each other at the same moment). My last match, however, was a bit unfair. One of my team-mates disconnected before the match started, and another team-mate didn't move at all, so it was 4 against 2!

Re: Video: What If Super Mario World Was A 3D Classic?

Tom41

Not perfect - I don't like how Mario appears to be in front of the thing he's standing on. It would need a little tweaking before I'd play an entire game like this. SMW might not even work as a 3D classic, as there is generally one background layer and one foreground layer.

Re: Video: More Bizzare Majora's Mask 3D Glitches Surface

Tom41

Twice I've had a glitch in the Snowhead dungeon where a White Wolfos starts running in circles and never attacks you. It also becomes invincible - can't be defeated by any means! I also entered the bottom room with the lava pits as Deku Link once. Before I have any control of Link, a fire skull comes out of the lava and kills him - so I'm trapped in a respawning loop...

Re: Talking Point: Is There A Future For The Wii U Without The GamePad?

Tom41

I'm in two minds about this. The Gamepad is good in its own way and can be used for innovative purposes (as Nintendo Land and Rayman Legends demonstrate), but I do believe there should be an option for people to use a different controller if they choose. I often play until my Gamepad battery runs out, and want to continue with a Wii Remote or Classic Controller Pro - only to find most games require the Gamepad to be present to actually start.

Re: EU VC Releases - 30th November - Baseball Stars 2

Tom41

Well, I don't like sports games of any kind so I'll give Baseball Stars 2 a miss. The Dynastic Hero is interesting though...

On the plus side, it has a nice animated intro and good music, plus you can play it in 60hz mode on a PAL Wii. However, since the game play is EXACTLY the same as Wonder Boy, it's really not worth getting if you've already got that. If not, then Dynastic Hero is a must-have!

Re: F-Zero X

Tom41

Great game; downloaded it as soon as it came out at midnight and have been playing it all day! I wonder if Nintendo will ever update it to make use of the Gamecube pad rumble feature, or release the 64DD extras as downloadable updates?
