Re: Random: Wow, The PS5 Really Does Dwarf The Switch

TioRogerio

@Retro_Player_77
Thanks for the info. My device was the one with only 500Gb internal space, I was struggling to keep games there, as PS4 games tend to require huge chuncks of internal space even using physical copies.
As the slim model makes less noise, has double internal space (1000 Gb) and is also smaller, I feel way more satisfied with it.

Re: Guide: Upcoming Nintendo Switch Games And Accessories For October And November 2020

TioRogerio

Pikmin 3 is fantastic! I had tons of fun with it and this edition will come with all DLCs so this version will be even better.
Highly recommended for everone who did not played it on the WiiU.
Still, one notable feature of the WiiU game probably will be missed is the manageable map on the second screen. That made Pikmin3 so much more intuitive to play. You could give orders to your groups of pikmin using the map and see exactly where they were and what they were doing without the need of swtiching to their groups on the main screen.

Re: The Nintendo Switch Is Officially Launching In Brazil

TioRogerio

@COVIDberry
Certainly it is. And this is not just about videogames. There are a couple of other famous worldwide brands in other fields that are yet to open business or bring their products to the country with official representation, like Mazda, Land Rover (cars), Vans (sportswear), Arby´s, Tim Horton´s (fast food) etc. while others tried and closed for good, like Fnac (books), HSBC and Citibank (banking), Kirin (beverages) etc.
In the case of videogames, Sony and Microsoft have official presence here, but those companies were already stablished in the country very long before even starting their videogame business and even so, they took a loooong time to launch their products here: The PS3 was the first Sony console to get an official release, and that was four years after its original international launch. Same with the Xbox360.
Imports tariffs and taxes for eletronics are very high in Brazil, and the country has a low average income, what makes the current generation of videogames kind of a luxury here. It´s understandable how tricky it is for Nintendo to make business here without a partner.
This is the third time, let´s hope this time it is for a long time.

Re: The Nintendo Switch Is Officially Launching In Brazil

TioRogerio

@georgesdandre As weird as it seems, it´s the third time!

We had official assembled NES, SNES and N64´s back in the 90´s with a company named Playtronic (now defunct). They ceased operations due to high tax costs.

Then in early 2010´s we had another company distributing Wii and 3DS with official status, named Gaming do Brasil (also defunct now). They ceased operations for the same reason and logistics difficulties.

I wonder which company will be representing Nintendo here this time

Re: Feature: All The Paper Mario Games, Ranked By You

TioRogerio

Well.. if there´s a series with consistency (regarding NintendoLife reviews) this is it .
Every game was ranked either 9 or 8.
Personally, I don´t think that there´s any "bad" game in this franchise. I do understand that fans of the first two games may feel dissapointed with Sticker Star and Color Splash, but these games were highly enjoyable to me.
It seems to me that Nintendo really wants Paper Mario to have a gameplay distinct to the Mario & Luigi series, hence so many changes in its battle system. I really don´t think that´s a bad thing at all.

Re: Here Are The Top Ten Best-Selling Nintendo Switch Games As Of June 2020

TioRogerio

@DavidMac How so? ... the game is about accelerating and steering a vehicle throught a circuit and surpassing adversaries in order to reach the best place possible after a number of laps ... if that´s not primarly racing, then what it is? It´s a cartoonish one for sure, but still a racing game.
That´s why it is more accurate to say that it is not a driving game, since this term usually refers to driving simulation and not cartoony driving.
"Party game" is not essentially a genre. It´s just a general term for any game with 4-player co-op/simultaneos play is a party game, no matter the genre.

Re: New Limited-Time Seasonal Items Have Appeared In Animal Crossing: New Horizons

TioRogerio

@dux Niche, maybe ... but I wouldn´t say they are "very niche" at all .... in fact, the Cowboy Festival (or as it is called here Festa do Peão) is very popular in the countryside of Brazil, many cities in states like São Paulo, Minas Gerais, Goiás, Mato Grosso, Paraná, Pará etc. host these festivals from March to August, which a few minor festivals happening on the rest of the year ...some of those festivals have attendances superior to 200k (Barretos, which festival always take place in August, reaches a whopping 01 million attendance).
It is just that many people who live in state capitals closer to the coast are normally not aware of these events, because they always take place in cities closer to rural areas.
Personally, I was glad they took inspiration from something more particular and different than the always-cliched Carnaval, showing that the development team really took some time to search.

Re: Leading Smash Bros. Player Calls Out Nintendo For "Not Putting Resources Into The Scene"

TioRogerio

I remember that some time ago, there was some buzz around the internet about why Nintendo does not offer prize money.
It was said that if Nintendo offers money as prizes for tournaments, people under the age of 18 wouldn´t be allowed to participate in those tournaments since in Japan, these events would be considered gambling and Nintendo does not want to prevent minors to enjoy these events.

Re: Feature: The Best Animal Crossing Games Of All Time

TioRogerio

@g_ruz Same here. Actually, I was kind of surprised with Happy Home Designer. I thought it would be somewhat shallow but it is a fun game to chill out. It was cool to discover and match the tastes of each character and make use of the charming amiibo cards

Re: Feature: The Best Animal Crossing Games Of All Time

TioRogerio

I think that Amiibo Festival was the only really dissapointing Animal Crossing game so far.
Some people seems to hate Happy Home Designer, but that game was actually quite fun, like a light-hearted puzzle game. I had lots of fun with it trying to figure out how to decorate each house according to the villager´s tastes.

Re: Reminder: Nicalis' Switch eShop Sale Ends Today, Almost All Games Discounted (Europe)

TioRogerio

Blade Strangers is a nice fighting game, simple enough for begginers and fun enough for experienced players .
Not long ago it got a free update with new characters. Every character feels fresh and different, despite sharing the same input/controls and the art style is pleasant.
17,99 is a great price for what it offers. If you´re a fan of fighting games, or appreciate 2D games, Blade Strangers is a good purchase.

Re: Feature: It's Been Nearly Five Years, So Where In The World Is Pikmin 4?

TioRogerio

I still cannot shake the feeling that Pikmin 4 was in fact Hey! You Pikmin, since Miyamoto said it was close to completion and that his Pikmin team is always working on something.
Still, we had a huge gap of 09 years between Pikmin 3 and 4, and considering that Pikmin 4 was likely being developed as a WiiU game and later changed to a Switch game, similar to what happened with Pikmin 3, so another similar large gap between new installments in likely to happen again

Re: Soapbox: Seriously Nintendo, It's Time For A Switch Joy-Con With A Proper D-Pad

TioRogerio

No No No The four face buttons work just fine for its purposes.
The D-pad, in modern gaming, is basically used only for navigating menus. Very few games make good use of it and the analog sticks we have today work just fine with most classic games, the exception are a few puzzles that require precision , like Tetris or Bombliss. I personally don´t think that old-school fighting games like Street Fighter or Neo Geo games work well with D-pads. Those games were designed for arcades and their move inputs work way better and easier with analog sticks.
A D-pad wouldn´t be compatible with the Nintendo Switch concept of a hybrid console with portable multiplayer, either.
I´ve been playing video games since the 80´s and, personally, I don´t miss it at all when playing on modern consoles.

Re: Monster Hunter: World Confirmed for Rival Platforms, is Skipping Nintendo Switch

TioRogerio

I don´t understand what is all this fuzz about.
This will probably be an online MMO just like Frontier G was. And in case people don´t know, Frontier G was launched for Xbox360, PS3 and PC in Japan and was not available in any Nintendo platform.
After all, by the trailer, it doesn´t seem like a traditional MH game, it feels more western-focused, although we still haven´t seen any gameplay footage yet
