Making your character look like you is a big deal to a lot of gamers in games that offer character customisation, and so when certain styles or features don't quite look how you would want them to, it can be a touch annoying. What's even worse is when there is a hairstyle or eye shape that matches your real flesh self but it's inexplicably greyed out. Yep, ponytails are only for girls and buzzcuts are only for boys, it's the rules.
Thankfully Nintendo has seen fit to ignore this troublesome trend for Animal Crossing: New Horizons and instead has opted for a complete and total free-for-all of all the customisation options regardless of what gender you pick. This includes hair, facial features, the whole kazoo. We've seen the customisation in action before, but it's good to know that our gender choices won't be restricting us in any way.
Animal Crossing is no stranger to this idea, past entries have allowed male characters to wear dresses and skirts freely, but it's still pleasing to see that character customisation follows this trend as well. After all, what's the point in limiting your selection?
Will you be taking advantage of all the options available? Let us know in the comments below.

Uh oh. This is about to become a 4chan comment section
@Crockin the profile pic is perfect with that comment.
@Crockin stirrers be stirring.
I remember buying a dress (I dont remember why), and the able sisters said something among the lines of- "Oh...really? Okay then..." Im not trans or non binary but that hurt even me.
I love that you can change them at any point too. No more regrets about a characters nose or eyes etc. I usually spend waaaaay too much time in the character creation screens so this'll definitely take away some of the indecisiveness
Yesss, this is why Nintendo is the best company ever. Mad respect Nintendo, no fear.
A great move I know a ton of people will appreciate.
Crossdressing again, ahoy ! 🤓
Now I can wear pants instead of a dress!
Oh wait...
Good they give the option, it's just clothing ect
I still like that even if you pick a boy and dress like a girl you are still a boy.
Definitely an improvement over the approach in ACNL, where you had to get hair styling at Shampoodle for seven consecutive days before you could get a hair style for the opposite gender.
There was also that Mabel would express surprise when a male character would try on a dress in-store, etc.
And also far better that people are able to decide how their villager looks instead of giving very specific answers to a start of game quiz, and not be locked into that facial appearance for eternity.
Very nice! Glad to see Nintendo continuing to open the doors on self-expression in their games. The comment section will eventually be overrun by angry bigots who were never going to play the game anyway, but it's nice while it's still calm.
@mist
@mist And so, the circus begins...
Thank god lol I hated having to get fifteen haircuts before I was allowed to have my own short hair on my female avatar
Now if only they could throw in some facial hair. The only 'off' thing for me with Animal Crossing is that I feel like my character is a little kid running around with that smooth face. Kinda the same with Pokemon, but the avatar is canonically a child in those games so it bothers me less.
@mesome713 "no fear"
Given the plethora of other games I can think of where customisation options weren't locked to a certain gender, I would argue that there was fear given this isn't something implemented into the series (or other games) sooner.
You know, I always like it when a game lets me crossdress. Lets me explore all the options if I am ever in the mood.
The sheer lack of judgment when cross-dressing in AC:NL always impressed me, and this looks like the next logical step. Options and inclusiveness are good.
For the cis people out there, this benefits you too: now you don't have to puzzle out some zen riddle to get the particular haircut you want on your character.
So they're basically genderless this time round.
@kenyowa Just because I don't agree with specific lifestyles doesn't mean I am a bigot.
Comment like this however is begging to get some nasty responses.
@Zuljaras actually the nature of your previous comment is pretty belittling to those lifestyles you don't agree with. There is a thin line between tolerating and actively speaking out against it, which is generally viewed as bigoted behavior. You are not passively disagreeing with a strangers lifestyle choice, you are speaking out against it. So, you know, shut up
@mist Yeah I can’t believe Nintendo is adding more options for customization too. It’s not like you can just simply not pick the opposite gender options.
Oh wait, you can!
@mist Go based, get waste.
Wow!
This doesn't effect me and how I'll play the game whatsoever!
So all of the characters have the same options now? Or did male/female characters have different running styles, I don't remember.
Anyway, more options is a good thing
I am absolutely livid that they would allow the option to look however you please in my Nintendo game. They are actively promoting dangerous lifestyles. I am boycotting and not buying. That will teach Nintendo for sure.
Get woke, go broke sjwtendo.
our gay agenda is advancing !
@Kimyonaakuma
From my experience with ACNL 3DS, your clothing type will determine your character running style.
If you put on Boys oufits, any character will run like Boy character. (Hands moving like sprinter)
If you put on Girly outfits, any character will run like a Girl. (Hands moving like Princess)
Just try it on by yourself if you have ACNL 3DS. 😉
I wish they added an option for they/them pronouns.
@Zuljaras yes, and yes.
Finally!! Gosh we're in 2020! Always got obligated to put a wig on my character to fit my style!
Good, that makes everyone happy
Nice. Never played an Animal Crossing game, but I'm more and more interested in trying it.
this is genuinely so great! more and more happy with this game as time goes on tbhhh
So we went from 2 genders, to 800 genders to only 1 gender in only a few years.
We need more big companies to step up for what's right. Too many of these big companies are scared to lose money over crybaby entitled gamers.
@sanderev gender identity is a construct, always was. Societal norms are the variable. Hope this helps alleviate any confusion. Sincerely, crockin
@Crockin Well not to me, I'm a white binary male. So, according to most SJWs, I'm pure evil and they wouldn't come near me if they could avoid me.
To each his/her/it's own, I guess.
Why not just use Miis at this point?
Wasn´t New Leaf wasn´t like too? I remember that we could choose a girl´s haircut for a boy and vice-versa at Shampoodle, and there weren´t restrictions in using any piece of clothing too.
@TioRogerio It was, they just made it easier. But entitled crybabies will cry regardless, what can you do.
I still can’t marry Chris Pratt in Tomodachi Life because I’m a dude.
@travisrusko
But Mario can wear Peach Bride gown from Super Mario Odyssey. (Crossdressing)
If girls are allowed to wear pants, so does with boys wear skirts.
And nothing wrong with crossdressing.
Remember also some crossdressing in reality life (Kabuki actors are all males even they have to portray woman character, Scottish male outfits have kilt or the skirts, Remo dancer from East Java Indonesia are females with moustache drawn on their face and male outfits on their body, etc)
It seems some sock puppets are activated...
Great that not only can we design our island the way we want, but also our character's appearance.
@Quarth
From the last trailer and screenshots, we can also dress up the animal villagers, even we can put a cap on them. 😃
I don't know if we can give them pants or skirt also. 😅
@sanderev actually, that doesn’t exclude you from showing empathy or being an ally. Will you get a few jabs along the way? Yea. That’s to be expected when you belong to the most privileged group of people in the world. How exactly do these groups threaten you? Is it a religious concern?
BTW you will forever be targeted by forward thinkers if you keep using terms like “binary” and “sjw” and “it” to punch down at oppressed groups
@Crockin Did you just assume his phobias?
@Yorumi they may not be making a big statement but then sites like this and comments are. The alphabet gang want to be accepted yet things like this are always made in to a big deal which is what grinds a lot of people's gears more than the actual subject.
@Crockin Ah yes and the mandatory response to people that may not agree with things that you do is to shut up and be quiet? that my friend is another form of bigoted behaviour. Free speech is still a thing and should always be a thing to defend whether or not you like what you hear. Grow up and realise that all people will have differing opinions and views to yours,it does not make those same people bigoted because they disagree, whether it's lifestyle choices or not
@Anti-Matter Hahahahaha oh man, kilts aren’t like cross dressing believe me 😂😂 We wear them at weddings and stuff because it’s formal wear and was also used in the military etc. Each family has a tartan, either their own or the closest related clan’s for example mine is Robertson tartan despite that not being my name. While yes, it’s a pleated skirt, the intention isn’t the same as the other examples you mentioned. They’re really itchy too 😅
Seeing some buffoonery, as expected. Gender is a spectrum, and that's a fact. It's understandable if you're unaware, because it's a relatively newly explored branch of science, though it was likely studied at the early 20th century Institute for the Science of Sexuality, where the term "transsexualism" was coined before it was shut down and had its records burned by the Nazi Party. Modern science is producing overwhelming evidence that gender-- as well as physical sex --is determined by more than what's between the legs.

@mesome713
I see where this is going, so I'm going to say good bye to this conversation. 👋
@PlayedNSlayed you know what’s awesome about freedom of speech? You can totally say whatever Opinions you want and not get arrested by the state! The bad part( you won’t like this) is that if you publicly share opinions that imply that a less privileged group are inferior or threatening because of their sexuality, you will be taken to task on that opinion in public as well. Sorry mr freedom of speech, but that is B A D argument
@MrBlacky Cheerio! 👋🏻
@Jangs296 Games are still games. People just now get more options to express who they are.
@Crockin Wow,good way to prove my point showing how narrow minded you seem to be. The irony couldn't be more clear. The only people being threatened with legal action are those people that are labelled 'transphobic,homophobic etc for having an opinion that goes against the current cult narrative. do those people deserve to be put in jail for not wanting to be forced to believe something they don't? Because that is a slippery slope towards true fascism which we can all agree is not where we want to be heading. You can believe what you want so let others do the same
@MrBlacky o you’re still here? Nice. 👋🏻👋🏼👋🏽👋🏾👋🏿👋
@Anti-Matter That's cool!
@PlayedNSlayed your freedom o speech is intact right? You have not been silenced, just questioned. Sticking up for your philosophies and ideals is your responsibility not mine. Again I do not care what you believe in, but if you publicly denounce those less privileged than yourself, be prepared to get rocks thrown at you.
@Crockin
Why shouldn't I? Just because of some hypocrite bully like you?
Well this has devolved, as predicted
@ZestyFork I agree, Animal Crossing is pretty happy
Give it a rest with the privileged rubbish. you can live how you want,but you have no right to demand others play along to spare your feelings. Your freedom of speech is intact too yes? hence why this conversation can take place
Isn't this like the 3rd Animal Crossing article today where the comments have devolved into a mess about gender? Sheesh.
Good they are letting the buyer/gamer decide how and what they do to play the game. This should be how it is open gender play no Censorship. This is how you build a gaming community let them decide how they want to play.
It's still hilarious that people still get mad when a game gives you more options besides fully male/female. Hell, I even saw a few people get turned off from Shovel Knight just because it was adding the option to use gender-neutral pronouns.
@Crockin Like, I don't identify as LGBTQ+ at all (though this is more concerning the gender side of it) and don't personally understand why people choose to, but if they're happy about this, I don't have an issue with it. It's not something that matters to me, but I'm not going to object to it and be against it just because I'm straight and consider myself my biological gender. The way I see it, a certain group of people shouldn't be glorified because of their differences, but they shouldn't be treated any worse for them, either.
@PlayedNSlayed Hahahahaha you’re actually comparing the growing openness towards the LGBTQ+ community to fascism? It’s not like, you know, the Nazis didn’t put gay people in concentration camps or whatever?
@PikaPhantom we think differently on gender obviously, but yes, why should anyone crap on anyone’s parade if it means more people get to be included in the fun? Also, nothing wrong with a little glorification here and there, keeps life interesting 🙃
Cool. My favorite haircut in AC tends to be a female one anyhow, now I can have it right away
@nessisonett Missed the point completely i see,but then I'm not surprised
Removed - inappropriate; user is banned
@PlayedNSlayed The point is openness, not telling people that they’re not allowed to do whatever with their bodies or live their lives in a way that makes them happy. That is not fascism and it’s truly both an awful metaphor and utterly repugnant to suggest it is.
All i care about from this is that i hope its obvious whats suppose to be a male or a female so i don't pick and put any female options on my characters since its clear they aren't going to show ingame which gender this belongs to etc
@Anti-Matter Anyone crossdressing in children's games is confusing to children. Especially little kids who are already confused about their gender. You then mentioned situations where crossdressing happens in cultures around the world. However, just because people do something it doesn't mean it's suddenly right. Again, saying doesn't make me a bigot. Maybe more people should care enough about children to not make them part of their hip social experiments.
@DarkLloyd Why not just pick the stuff you like and not overthink it?
@travisrusko Dude, saying "I'm not a bigot" makes you look more like a bigot
The point was, most people don't care what others do with their lives. Live your life and be happy however you please. But don't demand that everyone just shut up if they question or don't agree with those choices. Its their opinion and choice to not agree,that was the point
@travisrusko Please cut it out with this "hate the sin, love the sinner" nonsense. If you truly cared about kids with gender dysphoria, then you would let them live in a way where they can feel comfortable in their own skin. Your comments are no more than a thinly veiled way of calling trans people degenerates in your eyes.
I'd like to remind everyone here, that pants are a traditional male article of clothing. So being against crossdressing, means being against women or girls wearing pants.
@Anri02, actually I love those I disagree with. Even when they tell me that saying I'm not a bigot makes me sound like a bigot. Socially Conservative and Christian values regularly get attacked as bigotry. And that is shameful because true Christians (even if they disagree with the liberal agenda) are loving. There are plenty of mean people out there, but holding Conservative Christian values doesn't mean someone is bigoted, hateful or mean.
You could technically "cross dress" in New Leaf, so this isn't really anything new. I'm curious if the animals will refer to the player character with gender specific pronouns ("he/she", "his/hers", etc.) or if Nintendo tried to awkwardly avoid them in the dialog.
I can't wait for DOOM Eternal....😁
@ZestyFork, that is how it goes.
@ImagineerNik because im guy and i dont want to be mistaken for anything other then that by picking something that belongs to a female? i'll never select makeup or dresses, those are the only thing i can tell apart here.
add-on: which is why there should be some text identification to separate these things
Well I knew this comment section was going to be fun, surprised were are only up to a 100 comments.
@PlayedNSlayed Being transgender is not something that people 'choose', though. Trying to label being trans as "a lifestyle choice" is a bit disingenuous and I think you're attempting to use that as a cover to think you aren't be bigoted. Nope, transgender people are transgender. There is no lifestyle choice there.
BTW, your post contradicts itself. You simultaneously mention that people don't care what others do with their lives, but then talk about disagreeing with other's choices. It's either one or the other.
@ZestyFork Children can be LGBT, too, and it's important for them to see in media and otherwise that what they are is valid and okay, otherwise they grow up with shame and confusion.
@kenyowa, again that is making assumptions about me. Truly caring about people with gender disphoria means finding them professional help. It doesn't mean telling a 4 year old boy that he can be a girl if he wants to because that isn't reality. Even if his delusion makes him feel good, it's still unlovin and unhealthy to encourage him in it. I know kids that want cake for breakfast every day. The reality is it will make them ill. I know kids who think that they can touch fire without getting hurt. The reality is they will. Ideas have real world consequences. Owning up to that is the most loving thing you can do. If you think morality is subjective, then you're already saying you have no moral ground to stand on with which to make your comment.
@travisrusko So are you going to go tell little girls they can only wear skirts and dresses?
@travisrusko You're right, ideas do have real world consequences: yours include forcing children to live a life that is not their own, and watching them grow up into depressed adults. Your understanding of sex and gender is deficient, and it will cause real world harm to someone if you do not learn better. Morally speaking, it is you who are in the wrong. That is not a subjective opinion, it is fact.
@DarkLloyd Nah, there’s nothing inherently ‘male’ or ‘female’ about short hair, skirts etc. I think labels would just defeat the purpose tbh. Just dress your character how you want, that’s all!
@travisrusko The criteria for a child to be diagnosed as transgender is very rigid. Psychologists are very careful when it comes to children. Even still, medical intervention does not begin with transgender children until much later, and usually just involves puberty blockers around when puberty starts. Puberty blockers do nothing more than temporarily block puberty as the child grows up, then later when their minds are more clear they see whether they should go on hormone replacement therapy to transition or go off of puberty blockers and go back to having the puberty of their birth sex.
There is this very false notion that psychologists and doctors are out there diagnosing every child left and right as transgender just for showing any slight gender variation. This is not the truth. The matter is taken very seriously. There are children who know that they're transgender from a very young age, and the strict criteria has to be met in hopes to ensure that only those children get treatment.
@nessisonett well i can't just dress my character how i want otherwise that implies something about me that isn't true.
a skirt for example doesn't say "manly" to me, i wouldn't be caught in the real world wearing one and im not interested in getting bullied again for being different or laughed at by a straight female. never again.
it may be 2020 but it sure isn't ready yet. lol look at me making this a bigger deal than it has to be.
p.s perception matters but it also matters for those of us who aren't a part of the group and wish not to get our butts kicked by ahem "normal" folks which i have spent my life trying to be a part of.
@Anri02, you know the difference between crossdressing and a girl wearing pants.
@Harmonie, a child cannot "know they're transgender from a very young age". They can be confused. I've seen little kids who think they are puppies. They aren't. Even if there are adults out there misguided enough to tell them they are or to give them puberty blockers. You're talking about when and where medical intervention should occur for people suffering from gender disphoria. Maybe it shouldn't occur because surgically removing or adding body parts doesn't make a male a female or vice versa, regardless of age.
As per usual the transphobes are out in full force, hiding their hate behind tinly veiled comments like 'life style choice'. Nobody chooses to be queer, you are or you aren't.
I'm happy that this has become the norm in Animal Crossing! It doesn't feel right to be unrepresented in a game that supposed to be about you and your choices. I'm playing Rune Factory 4 at the moment, and really enjoying it, but the lack of gay romance options hinders the immersion for me.
@DarkLloyd Don't worry mate. Don't think the animals will bully you in this game. So you wear the skirt
Also, anyone who calls for bullying people they disagree with is wrong. On the flip side, disagreeing with people isn't bullying people.
The developer has given us more options in the way we want to customize our villager, any other meaning to this is just pure speculation and opinion, very click bate article imho.
@travisrusko That there is absolutely no difference?
@Suicune While it’s a silly fix, you later get the ability to change your character’s appearance into the female or male MC along with other characters from the game. It’s not the same but it kinda works despite needing quite a bit of effort to unlock 😅
@travisrusko We're not talking about just any adults, we're talking about trained psychologists who refer to the most up to date criteria based off of peer reviewed studies. It's science. And science disagrees with you comparing children who think that they're puppies to children who are transgender. Being transgender is a real thing. It has basis in psychology and biology.
@Zuljaras if it bothers you then you're against it. Simple as that. If you weren't against it, why would it bother you? There's not special middle road for this kind of opinion either. You're either against it or for it, and no one likes people against it.
@Harmonie, so you're saying that if a child feels like they're a puppy... they aren't? But, what if they really really feel like a puppy? It's the same argument, but now you're on the other side.
@travisrusko As a nurse, and someone who has the credentials to speak on this, I can tell you even in the medical books wanting to be another gender is not considered a medical condition. You don't need to seek help. It's not a condition in the DSM-5 (official book of psychology) There are millions of trans people, and gay people, who are 100% mentally stable. The instability comes from people like you who try to classify them as having a mental disability, bullying, etc. and that's what they need the counseling for. If you are against people wanting to decide their gender and how they feel inside, you're a bigot end of story. Also, your puppy argument is deflection which is typical of someone who is a bigot. You're on the wrong side of the fence my dude. Even in hospitals, we have to address people as they want to be addressed. It's not a medical condition.
@Harmonie Read my comment below. As someone who works in the medical field, I can back you up.
@ivory_soul My definition of "against it" is to do something against those people. I am not. I simply state my opinion on that lifestyle.
I don't like it but if people want to live like that and not try to force others to behave in some special way, I am fine.
The truth is that this loud minority is one of the most aggresive groups nowadays.
@travisrusko No, it's not. You're not even paying attention to what I'm saying. There is scientific basis for people being transgender, there is none for people thinking that they are puppies.
@Crockin
First of all the entire LGBTQ+ community excludes everyone who's straight / heterosexual. Since there is no H in the acronym. So the group who are for equality exclude the largest group. That's not equality.
Second of all..
Just one video from h3h3Production should answer all of your questions:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LNmvEkikg1k
@sanderev lol not watching this hateful junk
@sanderev Oh come off it, really playing the exclusion card saying that we don’t allow heterosexual people in our ‘club’? Plenty of straight people are allies, go to Pride, act like generally decent people. Just like how you’ll find white people at a Black Lives Matter event, you might not belong to the group but you believe in common decency.
@nessisonett at least it's something! Thanks for letting me know
@Suicune May have spent over 1500 hours on RF4 😅
@sanderev I never thought I'd see a take so brazenly awful as "the LGBT+ community is unequal because it excludes straight people." This comment alone is funnier than anything else you could've possibly said. Congrats on making my day with your trainwreck of an opinion!
In all seriousness? Trans people can be straight too dude. In other words, yes there are heterosexual people in the LGBT+ community.
This comments section has made me feel very sad indeed. Just feels like we really haven’t moved on very much in the last 20-30 years. I remember well the struggle my uncle had coming out as a gay man, and the joy I had seeing him finally be allowed to marry the man he’s spent 40 years with only a few years ago.
But reading here it shows there is SO much work still to be done. I mean really... comparing people feeling they are trans to wanting to be puppies?! Just how poor was your education? There’s no valid or sensible comparison in there at all.
Tell me what harm you come to because of the option in a game to wear or style your character as you wish. How is this harmful to kids? I mean REALLY!! Let kids be creative and have fun, how hard is it really to embrace diversity?
Sometimes I think society is taking a massive step backwards rather than forwards.
@kenyowa He's probably the type of person who complains there isn't a "straight pride"
@Entrr_username,
Those cute little animal crossing folk, never trusted em to be honest.
@Crockin and that is exactly my point.
@Euler New Leaf had that as an option, hopefully this one does too. They're nice, though they don't fit the aesthetic quite as well as traditional villagers.
I am still baffled by the appeal of these games after being bored within 2 hours of new leaf, I am happy for the people who truly love this stuff. But usually even games I dislike I can see the appeal. Hope the fans are happy on 20 th March but I think it’s doom for me. Shorty immediate fast paced action yeah x x x x
I don't think they had any gender locked stuff in New Leaf that I can recall, but I still wish this was more common. Gender-locking outfits and hairstyles in games feels really arbitrary.
@sanderev social justice warriors being annoying shouldn't overshadow the people pride exists to protect.
@mesome713 This isn't even much of a statement. They've had genderless outfits in Animal Crossing for awhile now, and hairstyles needn't be gendered in the first place. It'd be nice for them to update a few existing games like Splatoon and un-restrict the cosmetics there too.
@Dragonslacker1,
Ah but does Doom let you customize your house with some cute Halloween themed furniture?, I think not.
PSA: Being LGBT is not a choice. Thank you.
@FTPinkRabbit true, and I'm actually for equal rights. But not just for some groups. But for everyone. And not just equal rights but also equal responsibilities. If you break the law, no matter your gender, color or what else, you should be prosecuted because of it. Also you should be held accountable for the people of your community (village, city, country, state, religion, race, etc) And you should treat other people on a fair and equal manner.
And this is something I try to do on a daily base. I treat people the way they treat me (or my community). If someone shouts "I hate all white men" or "White men are the cause of all problems" or "white men have all the privileges" then I'm going to have a problem with that person. And if others from their community agree with their view (and they do) I'm going to have a problem with their community as well.
@Aerona being straight is also not a choice.
@travisrusko
Ow... 🙄
Btw, if you knew about Mulan...
Back on year 1998, Disney has released an animated cartoon about a Chinese young girl who have to disguise as a male soldier to save her father due to inability to join in war and at the end of the story, she have made her friends (Ling, Chien Po and Yao) , three young men disguised as a concubine and together with Mulan, they saved the Emperor from the Hun clan and Mulan have saved China.
Oh, please don't bring Christianity on this website.
Just look at your backslash from other users.
@Anti-Matter Christianity is always used as an excuse to justify a bad attitude towards people whose beliefs differ unfortunately.
Sadly everybody else can see the flaws in the argument, often laughably so when they talk about how caring they are while in the same breath saying how damaging it is for kids to be exposed to diverse clothing options 🙄. It was an attitude that used to make me feel angry, I try not to think too much about it now.
@FTPinkRabbit I agree, all video games should do it. That's why I'm so proud these developers are. One day it will happen, until then we have to deal with anti-science opinions im afraid.
I'm glad they mentioned this, I'm looking forward to playing the game, but, I better make sure I pick out male clothes for my character, because if I accidentally get the wrong hair cut or outfit I might start to become attracted to other men. /s
@Tao
I loved the Mii setting although on a couple island visits I got the <shudders> emote from other players 😅
@CairiB
I remembered on this website, there was a father who complaint about crossdressing Link in BOTW and said it was very unacceptable and he decided to feed his son by a rated 18+ shooting game instead to build his masculinity.
What a sad life.
@Anti-Matter it never stops amazing me that people think that kids can be influenced in this way by games. It’s like my parents feeling they should have banned me from reading Lord of the Rings to prevent me from becoming an eleven queen 🤣
@ImagineerNik well im not going to but sure i guess lol.
@CairiB i thought it would be because it has "magic" in it or something? the same way some crazy parents wont let the kids watch harry potter
@DarkLloyd for the record they didn’t ban me from reading, just an example of the crazy, but yes you are right.
It’s a shocking statement I know, but the tiny humans we call children are fully capable of having their own thoughts and opinions, quite often they are far more rational and well thought out than those of some so called adults. When it comes to the big important topics I have to say I agree with my kids way more often than I agree with my parents, it’s just a shame they can’t vote and get a say in a lot of it. (They are only just too young to vote)
Sigh...I love Chris Pratt.
@CairiB yeah the vote thing seems to be tied to how long you experienced life to get an idea of the world rather than rational common sense if that makes any sense, word forming is not my strong suit.
@Savino well aware !
as someone who is both queer and trans ,and also cross dresses every now and then ,I think I have a know or two on the specifics
“the gay agenda” is a term people use in fear and ignorance whenever the slightest inclusive thing happens. it’s fun sometimes to subvert that. relax a bit!
@RupeeClock Ha ha! I forgot about the vague questions that determined your face and hair. If I answered the questions blindly, I would end up with the sleepy eyes and a bad hair style, so I would always have to restart. Good times!
@mesome713 This was also done in trio of town and it's not from nintendo
@weisske Do you know story of season?
@ivory_soul @Harmonie @Anti-Matter @kenyowa, There are hundreds of millions of people who would agree that gender disphoria is a mental illness (including doctors). To say something is a mental illness is also not bigoted because it isn't hateful or bigoted to point out that someone has an illness. In fact, it is loving. As far as DSM-5 changing their definitions of gender dysphoria, they have their own progressive biases. Additionally, they only made these changes in 2017. Are we saying that our science in the issue was backward and bigoted before 2017? Here's some food for thought on DSM-5. Something to consider. https://youtu.be/oPOxF6m3MV0
@travisrusko
I have a few words for you.
I embraced the LGBTQ+ ! 🤟🌈
They are the Rainbow in our society.
They are among us, probably might help you when you need something.
They are same human as you.
They way you look at Crossdressing was like you treat those peoples like L'Cie from Final Fantasy XIII.
This personally makes me very happy. This is what it’s all about: let the game reflect YOU. I’ve worn many dresses in New Leaf and I’ll be doing it again in New Horizons.
@Anti-Matter for the record I would happily help anyone who needs it, regardless of their views or lifestyle. Also...not a Final Fantasy guy so the reference is lost on me.🙂
Man, all we are missing is someone complaining about someone else's religion to complete the cesspool of bigotry in here.
@kenyowa lol trans people kind of have to be gay when you think about it. "Straight and trans" makes no sense.
@J-Plap it does though? If a trans man (that is to say F2M) is attracted exclusively to women, they would be straight.
I have no issues with this, personally. I kinda have issue with it being made a big deal by the brigade on either side. I don't care if you want it or not, they have it, it's fine. They made the choice and didn't make it after being harassed or coerced to. It's just there. It's good. If they did it after, after social pressure by people with their political and social agenda, then I'd have issue. Everyone can go about their day now, there is nothing to argue about.
Whatever else happens, it's nice to see some support for trans rights in this comment section, and in the game of course.
Finally I can be a boy with long hair!
@nessisonett The whole left leaning views are fascist argument has been going on since at least the suffrage movement. 😂
Meanwhile, the Nintendo Life team sit back and count the comments.
Yeah, but when are we getting a boob slider for men and women in AC?
@Aerona 😂
great to see how streamlined the character customization is now, it was such a random and slow process before, which is fun for immersion but sometimes you just want some control on how you start off with your character
@Jangs296,
Ah but that does depend on the agenda, for instance if people do not want a child subjected to something then their brains are like sponges and they are very susceptible.
On the other hand if it's something that is not deemed has harmful then children are no longer susceptible and will see the whole thing as a whole new experience.
Not sure how this works both ways..
By some people's logic, half the world should identify as geese now, yet somehow that never happened. Children will be fine if their character wears a differently shaped piece of fabric.
@PBandSmelly,
" I remember buying a dress (I dont remember why), and the able sisters said something among the lines of- "Oh...really? Okay then..." Im not trans or non binary but that hurt even me. "
Those Able sisters can be so cruel.
@johnvboy no that’s true. But don’t you have to wait for Halloween in the real world before you can do that stuff?. With doom I can pull the trigger anytime before that and have fun! I do like all sorts of games though but between the two it’s doom all the way. Life simulators just seem to stress me out, but am glad people like them. The variety of this hobby is a great strength, am looking forward to the ac reviews to see how the fans love it x x x
You were able to get opposite gender hairstyles in New Leaf.
@sanderev Well yeah, it's a two-way street. That said, you have to look at the "community" as individuals. You don't want to be carrying a grudge against the loudest members and then attributing that to just anyone LGBT.
@mesome713 It's not really anti-science so much as a social thing, but I would like to see it become standard for games with avatar designs. It's fine if the protagonist is a relatively defined character, but if they're a blank slate make-your-own-hero type then I don't see much of an excuse to restrict stuff like hairstyles, especially if they're meant to resemble the players themselves.
@johnvboy I've done the same, and the dialogue actually has them be surprised, then say "Oh... Well, I guess it's OK to be a bit more adventurous sometimes. That item's X bells. Sound good?" She acknowledges that it's unusual, but she's certainly not cruel. Mabel isn't used to it, but she's cool.
@FTPinkRabbit,
I think they are o.k too, but as usual some are reading into things too much, and finding things that are not actually there.
@kenyowa no, because the F2M would be innately female by nature, and "his" sexual attractions to women would be genuinely gay in my understanding.
@j-plap Trans men are men, and men exclusively attracted to women are straight. It's not a hard concept. To say that trans men are "innately female" is transphobic.
@frogopus the entertainer you are referring to isn't just a random guy on YouTube. He is a Harvard educated lawyer, classically trained musician, syndicated columnist since age 17, business owner and (like you) married to a doctor.
wow O_O damn this comment section
looking back on this comment section two years later and baffled at how little moderation seemed to have taken place, this is the kind of section that'd absolutely be closed after a point
This comment section aged like milk.
