Following on from an official tribute comic in May, the Hobonichi Mother Project (from the same company owned by Mother series' creator Shigesato Itoi) has now revealed new themed merchandise (including jewellery and accessories). They'll be released on the company's online store on 24th August.
There's a silver necklace valued at around $186 USD, a brass keyring logo at about $72 USD, a Franklin Badge for roughly $36 USD, brass pins for about $41 USD, glass bead charms for close to $24 USD and themed towels available for about $31 USD (thanks, Siliconera).
Here's a look at everything on offer, courtesy of Famitsu:
The official Hobonichi Mother Project website, as already noted - offers a comic, and there are also shirts and tote bags available. To purchase any of these items you can head over to the store page now (international orders are accepted).
What do you think of this latest Mother themed merch? What other EarthBound related things would you like to see released this year? Leave a comment down below.

$36? The Franklin Badges should actually work for that kind of money.
Stop teasing us about mother! There likely won't ever be another sequel or heck even a compilation of the existing games yet everytime Shigesato Itoi farts we gotta hear about it.
Let us know when Earthbound is coming to switch or god forbid a U.S. release of mother 3 and then I'll get excited. Mother Nicknacks and do dads ain't gonna cut it, Sorry.
I really hope these merch releases turn out to be followed by a 3 pack for the switch but.. I guess that would be a lil too much for wishful thinking? I dunno, but I do see at least earthbound coming since it never was alluded towards SNES VC(but that was obvious considering they could sell it separately making way more $$$)
the fact that this series can still receive so much love and attention from its company and fans despite not having a game in 14 years amazes me. earthbound has truly stood the test of time
@boxyguy it makes it all the more bizarre that Nintendo won’t do anything meaningful with the series.
Yikes! That's some pretty pricey merch! I wasn't expecting that. A keyring for $72 is pretty bold. One for the serious collectors, I guess.
EDIT - Although, as @Yanina below me points out, the price is reasonable if these are viewed as jewellery. That is a fair point.
That Mother keychain is H0tt!
The prices are fair if you look at it as jewelry and not just as merch.
But yeah, a 1-3 game collection would not be a bad thing.
Unpopular opinion but I think Earthbound and Mother 3 are very much products of their time and although they're fantastic games, for a sequel they would need to seriously re-design the game and we know how fans would react to such a change (look at Paper Mario for an example).
I want to be proven wrong though.
@GrandScribe I think that's entirely up to Itoi, who has been adamant that he has done all he wanted to do with the series.
There has been a lot of announcements about Nintendo merch in recent times. Three months left and still no game announcements. I’m wondering what will the 2021 lineup will look like, given the drought during 2020. I wonder, had this virus not happened, would 2020 have looked like this. It feels a bit like the 64 era these days,
How about a mother themed game
Cute but how about a remastered Mother/Earthbound trilogy collection for Switch?
SEPTEMBER MOTHER 3 CONFIRMED
Overpriced tripe that banks on nostalgia to sell, and it will because fans are stupid enough to be strung along by any hint of getting more of their beloved franchise. This is cynical marketing at it's finest. Scalpers are gonna have a field day with this merch thanks to Mother fans being absurdly devoted.
Too pricey ...
I will stick with fan made crafts
It's a damn shame barely any nintendo fans have actually played the mother series. Stop asking for mother 3 and play it yourself!
@DockEllisD will neve happen
@DoktorTotenKopf cute. That will never happen 🙄
@Big_Nook that will never happen
@Big_Nook Now you're just making sense on purpose. One shall not make sense on purpose on the internet, especially not when talking about big corporate decision making.
Great, now let's get a release of the English translation of Mother 3 in the west. Also, how about releasing remasters of the original 3 too (could be done similar to the way that Mother 3 was originally intended to be on N64, as in proper 3D with a similar perspective to the original games mixed with variations of the third person view, but just with modern visual quality obviously)?
Mother 3 confirmed for Switch!!!!!
Mother 3 CONFIRMED
@Zebetite Ah yes, scalpers for a product that only will release in Japan.
@Shambo It's already been said more than one time that Mother ended as Itoi told the story he wanted to.
@PickledKong64 Did you know you can tag multiple people for a single reply rather than spam the same thing over multiple comments? Just click "Reply" to everyone you wish to be an ass towards, then type your douchy message, then send it to all 3 of them at once! Yay!
@KayFiOS how am I a douche? I'm just being real my guy. You're not a real mother fan into you accept that it wont be on modern platforms
@Nemesis666 I know, but releasing the 3 existing games on a Switch cartridge in a red cardboard box with mother written on, and a few nice extra's, can't be that hard, and it would sell out in no time.
@PickledKong64 So you're saying it's your duty as a "real" Mother fan to spit on the hopes and dreams of people who want Nintendo to do literally any-goddamn-thing with the series beyond putting its protagonists in Smash? That last guy, @DockEllisD wasn't even being serious about wanting Mother 4, but you were quick to say "will neve happen" anyway, so much so you didn't bother to spell check.
So yes, I think you're being a douche, and only a douche would fail to see how they're being one.
EDIT: Furthermore, IMHO, a REAL Mother fan respects Shigesato Itoi's decision to leave the series as a trilogy, and lets him enjoy his life without harassing him, but still sees value in the trilogy he left behind and wants Nintendo to see that there is an audience that clamours for the series to be brought to modern consoles and made available around the world, and not just in Japan. Those fans had a small taste of victory when EarthBound Beginnings was released on Wii U Virtual Console, 25 years after it released on the Famicom. Who's to say Mother 3 can't be released someday, even two and a half decades after its GBA release? Certainly not you. Just let people hope for the things they want.
@PickledKong64 I've dabbled in Earthbound, want to get it on SNES tho, and I've seen lots of Mother 3 Gameplay
For those prices, they can forget it!
@PickledKong64 Bold of you to assume you know what Earthbound fans have played.
And Nintendo is certainly no stranger to releasing ports and compilations of older games for a little extra cash, so its not out of the realm of possibility.
And yes, you're being rather rude and nasty.
@Tempestryke if you still think Mother 3 is coming to switch then you're insane
@KayFiOS I do respect that decision. Lmao you're just butthurt that you can play mother on the switch. Hope's and dreams are dumb as hell if their unrealistic. And thinking they will bring mother 3 to switch or the US is dumb as hell.
@PickledKong64 Okay, first of all, I had my fill playing EarthBound on SNES Classic, I prefer watching people experience the Mother 3 Fan Translation since I played it before and don't see any incentive to play it again, and I hate Beginnings, and besides giving people hope that Mother 3 could be localized as well, I think it was better off rotting in Nintendo's vault! EarthBound is the only one I ever replay to the end, so I'm not some butthurt fanboy, just someone who appreciates the time I had with the games—at least two of them anyway.
Second, in its current state, no, Mother 3 could not possibly be localized. And I doubt Nintendo would remake the game, even if it meant they could change aspects of the game that could have easily been the reason it wasn't localized to begin with, simply due to it targeting a niche audience. But do you see me telling people it will "neve happen," just because they're hoping for something that I think is beyond unlikely? No. I'm not gonna tell little Susie to give up believing her mother will wake from comatose saying "That vegetable is as good as dead!" either, cos people like to believe things, and telling them it will neve happen doesn't make you look like a realist, just makes you look like a douche.
