Re: Review: Star Renegades - Borrows Ideas From The Best To Create A Truly Inventive RPG

TimboSlice

Hmmmm! Totally out of nowhere but for sure on my radar!
I’m hoping that some patches fix up the notes frame rate issues.
I’m playing through Jenny Leclue now (REALLY cool, if you haven’t tried, and we’ll worth the 80% off sale I got it for..), but after that I may be looking here.

Hopefully some more comments from people who have played the game will surface as well.

And if any mention of a physical release, I’d be in 100%

Re: Review: Fitness Boxing 2: Rhythm & Exercise - More Of The Same, And That Might Not Be Enough

TimboSlice

The true sequel to FitnessBoxing is obviously FiNC Home Fit, which is apparently only available in Japan.
That one adds new martial arts and looks like a true update.

I have fitness boxing and use it quite regularly. I see no need to upgrade at this time. Half the time I turn on my own music anyways as you can easily follow the “rhythm” from the visual cues.

As a martial artist, I can tell you that the reason you are missing your hooks is because you aren’t striking “through” the target. Accelerate more across your midline amd the Joycon picks it up better.
My issue is the ducking and weaving which seems to only pick up the motion if you “jerk” your movement, or shake your Joycon as you move, versus the realistic motion of moving smoothly... that’s unfortunate as it doesn’t train you properly....

Anyways. This sequel is a pass based on the above. But I would recommend picking up the first game on sale or used at probably half the price. I do find FB much better for a workout than ringfit

Re: Random: The NSO Icon On The Switch Home Menu Is Driving Some Users Crazy

TimboSlice

My issue with it is more the placement than the color (which IS horrible and poor design, no argument here).
I think it would have been better to be at the far right if the icons. In that way, you’d have the full set and then the red dot. It would stand out less. This is a design strategy where you place a more prominent item at the end (reading left to right) of a list, so the reader doesn’t “focus” on the one item first and neglect the rest. You do this in advertising, for example.
It’s also that I will likely, as many others, be using the news and eShop icon more, so this wastes touches to get there.

Let the rioting begin!!!!

Re: Try Fitness Boxing 2: Rhythm & Exercise For Free With New Switch eShop Demo

TimboSlice

@nimnio once you unlock the higher levels, the combos include dips, rolls, and ducks, which engage you quads and hams like squats do.
So yes, there is some body weight component.
You can also lengthen the exercise duration and tell the game what part you want to focus on.
I’d say that regardless of your fitness goal, fitness boxing is the better alternative.
RingFit gets a tad boring over time, more so than fitness boxing.

Re: Ninjala Season 3 Arrives, Adds New Arena, Weapons And Spectator Mode

TimboSlice

@Zebetite Agreed, and of course the developer plans on people spending money since THEY GAVE YOU THE GAME FOR FREE.
If someone, however, is complaining about the cost, and this is enough to make them stop playing a game they admittedly enjoy, WHICH WAS FREE, then that’s where it gets a little silly.
I bought the starter pack for like $4 or something, and I have tons of costumes from it and played in the first season. I more than got $4 worth of playing the game. I think people should look at the value of the game as a whole.
We aren’t talking about games where you’ve payed full price and then get hit with micro transactions (this I too have an issue with).

I always try to pay for at least a few things on FTP games I love and enjoy. Some games make that hard! Asphalt9 and Warface gave me so much I couldn’t even find stuff to buy but I still pumped about $5 into each for almost nothing just to support them.

Life doesn’t give you stuff for free, paying $5 for Ninjala is far from a big deal.

(I’m not even mentioning all the free Jala they gave since the beginning, following specific download numbers being reached)

Re: Pikmin 3 Opening Week Physical Sales Were Lower On Switch Than Wii U (UK)

TimboSlice

I never expected this game to do well. It’s very boring for players that haven’t played it before or have some sort of memory of it, and then those people have already played this game!
There isn’t enough new stuff in this package, and at full price it’s a joke.

The demo does nothing to stimulate interest as it’s quite slow and rather boring, for players that aren’t already Pikmin fans.

I hope this poor selling shows Nintendo they have do do better.

Re: What's Up With The Frame Rate In The Hyrule Warriors: Age Of Calamity Demo?

TimboSlice

Played about 15mins and just can’t get into these types of games... didn’t notice the frame rate but maybe that’s why it was unappealing to me?
I don’t know, it was also annoying when I would walk close to walls and very randomly a pop up would tell me to press B to wall jump, but then after an awkward angled jump I didn’t land anywhere but where I started.
I also noticed a few awkward camera angle glitches and that was enough to end my time with the demo and solidify I won’t pick this up.
I love MUA3 and that still satisfies my smesh cravings, as does SOR4.

Re: Warner Bros. Was Worried Mortal Kombat 11 Wouldn't Be "Nintendo-Friendly"

TimboSlice

Lost interest in the franchise after Deception.
Don’t like the stupid X-ray moves because, and hear me out, it’s just too ridiculous! How the hell do theybsustain that type of damage and then just keep fighting?! They essentially do fatality level moves in the middle of the fight... it’s just for gore sake and I just don’t like it.
I know I’m ridiculous. But anyways, been a long time since I was interested in a MK title.

Re: Poll: One Year Later, How Are You Getting On With Ring Fit Adventure?

TimboSlice

I admit that although at first it was great, the lack of multiplayer was a factor of me getting off of it.
Finding fitness boxing and being able to do coop there sold the deal. FB arguably gave me a better workout as well, cardio and strength-wise I find.
Sold my RingFit at the height of the pandemic as well for a very good amount to boot.

I’m looking forward to upgrading to fitness boxing 2 possibly, but really upset we won’t get the seemingly Asia-only FiNC Fitness game announced a few months back...

Re: The Switch Version Of The Outer Worlds Is Getting A Patch Next Week

TimboSlice

I’m not a stickler for graphics and admittedly can’t even really see the differences in the images shown.
From what I can tell, this patch adds clouds?! 😜

I’d have to see it in motion to really tell, probably.

As for purchasing the game, I don’t own it and may pick up in future at a large discount. I’ve just played so many many many hours of fallout and Skyrim that I’m a bit burnt out in the whole thing. Need more time before I engulf myself in something like this again, and it had better be good when I do!

Re: Random: Someone Made A Manual For Super Mario 3D All-Stars To "Complete The Physical Set"

TimboSlice

I don’t think this is necessarily illegal.
It’s like writing fan fiction, no?
And I think it’s awesome and would pay for it if I actually owned the game. The irony there is that I didn’t buy it because if the lack of anything extra (such as a manual) with the cart.

Streets of Rage 4 and Wargroove both came with manuals (if I recall correctly)... so when it’s a well done package with care taken, it’s obviously “possible” to do.

Kudos to whoever did this! (I wish this article gave a link to it)
