RetroMania Wrestling – billed by developer RetroSoft Studios as the official successor to the Technos 1991 arcade title WWF Wrestlefest – is now locked-in for release on Switch early next year.
The game – which is also getting a physical release via Limited Run Games – arrives on February 26th, 2021. It showcases 2-8 player local multiplayer (online is still to be confirmed), 50 different match variations, 700 frames of hand-drawn 2D animation and a stack of characters to play as – including the iconic Road Warriors (AKA: Legion of Doom), Hawk and Animal, both of which have now sadly passed away.
RetroMania Wrestling is also due for release on the PS4, Xbox One and Steam.

Finally given a release date after it missed the July release date. To be honest I figured they were just going to take the preorder money and run.
Are you telling me we might finally get a good wrestling game on Switch?
@link3710 there's not much competition lol
I can definitely do without the terrible rap music in the video
Hahaha, this is seriously the only Wrestling Game I am bothered about. (Unless Hamster bring Konami's The Main Event to arcade archives!)
Looks fun 😀
Reminds me of the good old days 👴🏻
Looks good
Reminds me of the old nes, snes games
Wow, that's a horrible rap.
Awesome, I have been waiting for a good wrestling game for the switch. I was hoping spike chunsoft would release Fire Pro Wrestling World for switch, but this game will fill that void.🙌🏼🤼🏻♂️
That’s one random roster!
Looks nice, then I turned up the volume! What a horrible song!
Physical.... gets excited...
It’s limited run games....
A lot less excited. Early release 2021 digital.
Pay for LRg at same time and get it delivered in 2038
Terrible rap choon and I love 1990s/early 2000s rap. Still, I'll monitor the game.
I'm glad to see Nick Aldis on the roster. I played a demo of this at Too many games expo. It was fun from what I played.
Is this the one where RGT85, John riggs, etc make an appearance? Aren't they watching the action; sadly not wrestling!!
it looks cool, but 16 wrestlers isn't a lot. I will probably buy it anyway since I LOVED Snes era wrestling games. My concern is the frames of animation. Like Brian Myers finisher looks like it is missing half the animation.
BTW. Does anyone else wish that Wrestling Revolution (the android game) would come to Switch? I love that game!
Take my money!
I only know or remember the road warriors. I liked the song it hyped up the gameplay.
Yes oh yes, I love me some wrestlefest! I cannot wait to play this and I have heard from the developers vlogs we will be getting dlc.
Firstly let’s hope it not got that awful music and character popping up singing in the corner.
Secondly it’s not very retro when it’s missing hulk, big boss, giant, piper, jake snake, etc.
@Lord yeah how can a small development team not pay for all them licenses. Criminal!! Come on dude, give the guys a break. They done the best they could with the budget they have. Oh and anyway fcuk hulk as he is a racist and should not appear on any game. I would rather have retro Japanese wrestlers over the soap opera guys given a choice.
It's retro because of the gameplay, not the wrestlers!
Now if only they make an official sequel to WWF No Mercy of the N64, that would be sweet.
@Retro_Player_77 YES PLEASE! At this point, I'd probably pay $100 for that. haha
I will like to know who approved that terrible music to spoil the good commercial? Volume tuned down due that terrible rap.
Man this looks fantastic. I just hope there’s a good amount of moves for everyone. And that the caw is extensive so I can make a lot of my favs. Lol.
Looks good but will depend on price.
Not happy with LRG.
Will hope for a retailer release like what happened with SOR4.
@GrailUK Ah Main Event would be awesome. I think it got removed, but Mat Mania/Exciting Hour was up on the store for a time (if you’ve not seen it, its on my YT channel)
I think I want this game very badly. I assume that crappy song was only for the trailer and won’t be in the game?
Worse comes to worst, I’ll play it on mute.
Next time can we have a video without the [c]rap.
Looks really fun, can't wait!
There's been mobile attempts at developing a sequel to WrestleFest, but it didn't work out (in my opinion). As said, the rap is terrible on the video, and I doubt it'll have the same buy-in without popular licensed wrestlers.
Ok this has me excited.
Looks fun I will need to keep and eye for its release.
@Retro_Player_77 speculation has it that AEW is making a wrestling game. And it's supposed to be the "successor" in style to no mercy. They have former thq members working on it.
MegaRan is awesome. If you don't know, you're missing out. The only artist sponsored by capcom.
Now if only we could get a FirePro game as well...
@SwitchedOn_Games Thnx, I'll check it out. I'm not actually into wrestling, but if the gameplay is good, then I'm in.
That "music" almost killed it for me. Otherwise looks nice!
@PhhhCough you mean the yukes development team are behind AEW's game. The original team behind virtual pro wrestling are long gone.
To be honest I don't know why AEW never got the guys at spike who developed king of coliseum II to work on the game. KOC II took the crown away from Virtual Pro-Wrestling II for best Pro-Wrestling game ever made long time ago.
@link3710 THERE WILL be, it's called Wrestling Empire. That's the game I was talking about in the comments earlier. It was called Wrestling Revolution on the Android Market. This is my favorite wrestling game since No Mercy on N64. So stoked when I saw it on the eshop as coming soon today.
@GrailUK Check out Wrestling Empire coming out by MDickie. I paid for it on Android a few years ago. LOVE IT. I'll buy this day one on switch.
@SoIDecidedTo Wrestling Empire is awesome, I bought a Switch specifically to get it. I can't wait for Retromania too.
Does anyone know when this will be available to view on the eShop? I would like to pre-order or add to my wishlist. I am a little bit sketchy about pre-ordering through the designer's site because they have had false alarms with releases already. Wrestling Empire was available to view on the eShop long before it's release date and the fact that Retromania isn't is strange to me.
