Atlus announced Persona Q2 for the 3DS in August of last year as a sequel to Persona Q: Shadow of the Labyrinth, but since then we've heard very little about the new game.
Today, Kazuhisa Wada - who is in overall charge of the entire Persona series - told Dengeki magazine that the company is "hard at work" on the sequel. We'd have preferred something a little more detailed but it's good to know that Persona Q2 hasn't been entirely forgotten, at least.
The thing is, will there still be much of a market for a 3DS RPG when Atlus eventually gets around to releasing this game? Let us know if you'll be buying it by posting a comment below.

I really liked the original Persona Q. It had some AMAZING dungeons.
@Ralizah Agreed and this would be a day one for me. This game just had so much PERSONAlity lol.
Atlus should be hard at work on Shin Megami Tensei V
Sure. I'll play it if it comes to switch.
@NinjaWaddleDee Considering such a large part of the game involves drawing your own map of the dungeons on the touch screen (people forget that the "Q" is a reference to Sekaiju no MeiQ, the Japanese name for Etrian Odyssey), I dunno how well it would work at least in docked mode.
Persona 5 Golden for Switch--please, Lord!
Well, finally some sort of update...
I know I can wait for this but the point remains; how many will still be buying 3DS games whenever Q2 comes out? I hope this is Atlus’s last release on the system, with focus shifting to Switch moving forward, but we’ll probably be seeing a 3DS Etrian Odyssey VIII in 2025.
And not to be that person but I’ll be that person, for the love of glitch noise bring P5 (Shade of Red) to Switch. I’ve bought it on PS3 and I’ll buy it again.
Day 1 for me - if it ever comes to the US
Just Hope Persona 6 will be on Switch some day. Persona 5 was amazing.
@Agramonte The Persona mainline titles have so far been on PS1, PS2, PS4, PSP, and PS Vita. I would love to see them on Switch, but they’ve been pretty locked down to Sony systems so far.
If it is release for 3DS that is where I will play it. I still have a back log of games I am playing there, so continuing to have games released there is no problem for me.
@bratzdoll Nah, they confirmed that Etrian Odyssey X is the last one for the 3DS.
@imgrowinglegs Yeah... that nonsense is a shame. P4 was one of the best games i played on the Go on Vita. And P5 (as-is) would be perfect for the Switch. if given the Choice, Switch would been top of my list
Look at Monster Hunter - so who knows. Switch could do the P5 PS3 version easy.
Atlus RPG.im in.like usual
@YummyHappyPills I assume that Persona Q2 is being handled by Studio P, an internal team at Atlus. I doubt that they are also responsible for SMT V, which they are no doubt hard at work at as well.
I'll be buying it, but I wish we got a release date.
I love Etrian Odyssey but have never played a Persona game so didn't check out the first Persona Q. Was worried I wouldn't get the references.
Think I might give it a try anyway.
I love Etrian Odyssey (100% IV & Untold I), but Persona Q it's perfect for me 'atm'. I Can't wait for PQ2
They're obviously waiting on the dancing games to release first.
Hoping for social links in this.
I'm just waiting for Atlus to release a new entry into the Trauma Center series for the 3DS or the Switch, preferably one with full-motion video cutscenes and full voice acting.
I never played a Persona game, but I definitely still love my 3DS and want more games for it. Someone tell me why I might like Persona for 3DS! I like turn based games a lot.
Earlier this year Atlas seemed to backtrack a little and claim not to know what format this would be released for. It could come to switch. Either way I’m in
I'm totally ready for this. I would also be ready for a port of P3 and P4 to Switch.
yes I plan buying it when it comes out for 3DS
@McGruber If you know anything about Etrian Odyssey, you have a good starting point for PersonaQ. Grid-based dungeons for exploring and puzzle-solving, challenging turn-based combat. Where PQ shines for me (compared to EOIV/V), is the characters. The characters have a lot of personality and are given a lot of time to interact. Fantastic voice acting as well! There's also a heavier focus on environmental puzzles - they really do a great job of breaking up the standard action with fun side quests.
The only downside for you is that the game is primarily aimed at existing Persona fans. So there's in-jokes and references to previous games. If that bothers you, it's worth trying to seek out the mainline games first - they're great! But honestly I think there's still a lot to enjoy without that backgrounds (and they seem to be good about avoiding spoilers).
Seems Atlus is the only third party dev still supporting 3DS keeping the little device alive. First was Radiant Historia: Perfect Chronology, then SMT: Strange Journey Redux, and now Persona Q2. I hope someday they remake Riviera, Yggdra Union, and Last Bible (Revelation) for 3DS as well.
@VoodooTrumpet
Nah, Persona 5 Noir sounds better!
I wish Persona would come to Switch. Aside from taking my 3DS when I go into the city for the occasional streetpass, I have hardly used it since I got my Switch.
3DS is the best portable on the market.
If it's anything like PQ1, i'm buying day one.
More interested in hearing about SMT V personally. Although it would be cool if they could work out a way to put a persona collection on switch.
@Tsurii
You obviously haven't either. It's phantom thieves so classic noir story.
@Tsurii
How about Heist?
@imgrowinglegs Never really understood this. If Persona wasn't PS exclusive it would widen the franchises fanbase and result in a more popular franchise and higher sales. This PS exclusivity benefits Sony only not Atlus.
Also really hope Q2 is in 3D. I personally like the 3d effect and was upset SJ didn't get the treatment.
@Spoony_Tech Day 1 for me too if they have stereoscopic 3d. Otherwise I will wait for a sale.
Please do slowly ,don't simply do for persona Q2
Persona Q final
Did this ever come out?
