Not surprised. It's the best Mario Kart game in the series, even better than the Wii U version thanks to additional content and the revamped Battle Mode.
Still not sure about buying this game. I loved the Wii games, but I'm not sure if I'll get the same amount of fun. I've heard this game's combat is repetitive.
We should get rid of the Chef's hat too because it's offensive to Italians. And not the Italian-accented plumber whose voiced by a white caucasian.
I'm confused as to what is even racially offensive anymore. I get annoyed when American's impersonation of a British man is a cockney-accent, tea drinking man in a suit and top hat. I don't see anyone confronting that stereotype.
I shouldn't be surprised about the backlash over Pirahna Plant, but man, a lot of people seem to be really spiteful over it. He was probably a joke character Sakurai & co. wanted to mess around with for fun, alongside the MANY FAN-REQUESTED NEWCOMERS that have been added in Ultimate. Just leave the poor man alone. He works his backside off but can never seem to have fun or make everyone happy.
It's a shame they've dropped Trophies for this game, but I'm not surprised. The amount of effort it takes to model and texture one good-looking 3D character model is hard enough. The idea of the 'Spirits' system helps make up for the fan service while cutting down a tremendous amount of time and energy for the developing team.
As someone who's only played a little of Monster Hunter, this stills sounds terrible. I can only assume they shoehorned this portal plot nonsense so they could cut down production costs by just giving the characters boring military outfits they bought from a discount army shop.
That's sad, but it was inevitable. I remember growing up buying Games Master magazines as that's how I used to find out all the new games. My biggest memory was buying them to try keep up with Pokemon D/P's European release because it kept getting delayed for us. (no idea why.) It was agonising as a kid but we eventually got it and it's one of my cherished games.
I wish these game's combo systems were more along the lines of Bayonetta or DMC, where there were more attack/link buttons to make new combo's spontaneous and experimental. That's what makes those games fun to me. I never understood how people can enjoy a game series where the gameplay involves mashing one button to win. I couldn't enjoy Hyrule Warriors despite the Zelda fanservice.
Unfortunately I'm not bothered about funding this. I held out forever for the Switch version of Yooka-Laylee, only to find out it was disappointing despite the post-lauch fixes (like most people). Huge barren (but pretty) levels with collectibles littered everywhere with no sense of direction or game progress.
Wonder how this "Master Trainers" concept plays out. I'm not planning on buying Lets Go at the moment, but the promise of post-game content not found in the original games sounds interesting. I just hope it isn't more Battle Tower nonsense.
@MegaVel91 That's a neat concept, but not a strong execution. If it gets an evolution I hope they incorporate that concept into a stronger evolution design.
@SmaggTheSmug It looks like someone put their hand in their pocket, pulled out some putty, a nut and some discarded wire, put it together, and decided to make it a pokemon.
@Cobalt Well it IS a PS2 remaster. Most PS2 games haven't aged well, and this game isn't remade from the ground up like the N.Sane trilogy or the Resident Evil remake.
I don't think the model textures look bad in this video. It's the lack of a real light source and shadows that make it look horribly aged. Reminds me of the static backgrounds in the PS1 Resident Evil.
Strange decision, considering they haven't done anything with their legacy IPs to warrant merchandise. Maybe they're secretly developing a new Banjo/Conker game and want to start hype? Wishful thinking probably.
@AxeltheBuizel I agree, Toxicroak deserves more attention.
Oh, you mean Buizel. Nevermind. I'll sit in the corner wishing Toxicroak gets the attention he deserves in future. Even his pre-evolution is more popular.
I remember when getting Legendaries from these events were magical, since they were rare and you couldn't just trade for one online. Now they give them out like free food samples. It's not the same.
@RupeeClock I've seen the inspiration been used before. The most popular instance is probably Hsien-ko from the Darkstalkers games. I remember it being used as costumes for other games too, like Rufus from Street Fighter and Mei from Overwatch have costumes based on Jiangshi.
@Realnoize That's what I'm saying. I imagine more cost when into the art department now that the game evolved into 3D rendered models and more exotic backgrounds (compared to the simple pixel art style of older games, excluding MM7 and MM8.) It would be reasonable to increase the price tag to make up for these costs, but not a huge jump. (I think MM9 and MM10 cost about £10-15 when they came out.) It's hard to swallow £25 for a relatively short game, and I don't know if I'll get invested into the other modes.
Is the game worth £25? I know the game's getting decent reviews, but I never pictured a new Mega Man game costing more than £20 in this day and age. Mainly from the short length that all MM games suffer from.

I automatically thought of Rayman Legends when I saw this after the Nindie presentation. Might buy it in the future.

Still playing Smash. Can't get enough of online competitive. Learning how to play Ridley.
Re: Hideki Kamiya Shows Off Potential PlatinumGames Merchandise, Asks Fans To Share If Interested
If they really wanna sell, it needs to be based on their own games. I don't think fans will be too excited about "P-shirts".
I'd love a Bayonetta shirt. (Or Okami, but that probably wont happen.)

They must be running out of ideas for Sonic merchandise.

It's sold that much 'cos everyone wants a taste of Pirahna Plant.

@Rafke Unless it had a $4 million budget, it probably won't get that much flack (even if it turns out mediocre.)

Re: Random: 70-Year-Old Pokémon Player Ditches His Bike For A Fearsome Full-Body Rig
I wonder how much retirement money he spent rigging that monstrosity up.

I'm confused with Pirahna Plant's placement as DLC. Is he included as the first of the 5 DLC packs, or is he completely separate from it?

@Rhaoulos Naa, it's not really funny at all. I only came to see Luigi being treated like Luigi.

@Cobalt I won't lie, that FF texture update is neat. They even painted in cloth folds and remade the pattern on the sash.
Too bad Onimusha isn't a Square Enix property. (shrugs)

Luigi getting shafted by both princesses. Just another day for Luigi.
