Hard to feel too bad if sales are behind given they'd have sold a ton if they either did a Switch 2 patch or found a way in game to allow 1080p in handheld mode.
Sure dev kits are hard to get back that doesn't stop a developer from pushing handheld to be 1080p themselves.
Edit: I'm fortunate to have a Legion Go S so bought these games on Steam but my preference would have been Switch 2.
@The_Nintendo_Pedant Releasing it at this time? It's literally the only thing they've been working in since Impossible Lair which was released in 2017.
You have to figure if this game doesn't sell Playtonic is toast as it will probably be 5+ years before they can get another game out.
Not really sure what you're talking about but many games can play on Switch at 1080p when docked but are locked to 720p handheld.
The Switch 2 is 1080p handheld meaning you could tell a Switch game to act like it's playing in docked mode on the Switch 2 when in fact you're playing handheld to benefit from the better resolution so stuff isn't blury.
Nice, a partner Showcase highlighting games that are $20 everywhere else will now be $100 in Canada and features include running worse, looking worse and having entire portions missing!
I swear between this and Gollum I wonder if studios are legit blind to how predictably trash their games look early on and why they even bother proceeding?
I really wish for the open world side of things they made it a bit more like Diddy Kong Racing or somehow added in a story where you drive to different locations and encounter random battles and races by meeting Bowser as an example on the streets.
Exploring the world is not really fun at all.
Still a very solid game but I just don't see the appeal of the open world.
I wish it had weapons or a mode with weapons like Wipeout did.
Regardless can't wait to play it.
Launch games I'm getting are
Fast Fusion Mario Kart 8 Fantasy Life upgrade Zelda Tears of the Kingdom Upgrade Rune Factory Street Fighter 6 Cyberpunk "sheer curiosity to see how it runs" Bravely Default Sonic X Generations
Love this studio but they haven't released a game in years and the first game they announce after the second Yooka game is a Remake of the first which I still feel was a terrible decision vs a new IP.
Hope the Remake sells well but they need to get that out asap.
Hate when companies do this. I actually love seeing credits show respect to both teams as someone who actually designed a level deserves a shout out more than someone who copied it to look better in 2025.
Ah yes, all the games Ubisoft had to skip Switch due to the lack of power now years later becoming available on Nintendo's newest console likely with less features for 45% more than you can buy them elsewhere where they also aren't selling.
David Doak and many of the returning members are all class acts and this just sucks to see as it was a chance to finally get a next gen Timesplitters which likely would have really had a chance to shine if given the time to make. Curious how far into development it was and if it can be saved somehow.
So happy that they stealth dropped this. Would have been great if they said Metroid Prime 2 and 3 and Echoes will be coming later in 2023/2024 just so we know we will eventually be able to play all of them prior to MP4. I truly wonder if we will get the other 3 games now as it only makes sense we do.
@StarPoint feels like it's been going down for decades. Dude seems like such a chud too. If he's so good why doesn't he just beat the record again with true officials watching?
The Switch being severely underpowered is just simply getting old at this point. Imagine if the Switch has Steam Deck power and OLED with insane battery capabilities.
I'm just shocked that Nintendo is still milking the Switch when it can't even run a mainline Pokemon game at a stead 1080/60 FPS.
Probably one of the worst directs in years to be honest. Nine farming sims none of which will touch Stardew Valley in terms of depth or fun a crap ton of filler garbage and a less than 30 seconds look at the next Zelda.
Zero HD Metroid or MP4, no update for Mario Party All Stars....just a bad direct as per usual.
Mehhhh, third party games that have likely been out years elsewhere with watered down features and graphics for full Nintendo Tax price don't really interest me at all.
I'm thinking this year will be a flop for Nintendo for big releases which is unfortunate given how many IP's are still in cold storage.
@Royalblues no just another one of those countless times in a year where a game is compared to a Zelda or Metroid game and ends up being nowhere near as good or comparable.

Re: Anniversary: Monolith Soft Celebrates Xenoblade Chronicles 2 With A Post, But We're Desperate For A Switch 2 Revamp
So frustrating the slow drip of Switch to Switch 2 patches.
Even if Nintendo just boosted handheld mode play to 1080p it would be something to tide us over.
Re: Absolum And Ball X Pit Post Excellent Initial Sales, But They Deserve More

Re: Anniversary: SNES Action RPG 'Terranigma' Is 30 Years Old Today, And It's Still A 10/10 In Our Book
What a great time for them to consider bringing it out in NA.
Re: Mini Review: Xenotilt: Hostile Pinball Action (Switch) - The Balatro Of Pinball Games
All these amazing games and zero Switch 2 perks.
It's so frustrating and causes me to just get them on PC since there's zero ETA for proper Switch 2 patches.
There's just no excuse anymore.
Re: Review: Yooka-Replaylee (Switch 2) - Feels Like The Game It Was Meant To Be, Finally
@The_Nintendo_Pedant Releasing it at this time? It's literally the only thing they've been working in since Impossible Lair which was released in 2017.

Re: Review: Star Wars Outlaws (Switch 2) - An Underrated Adventure, A Super-Solid Port
@SpaceboyScreams having played a ton on PC she's not as bad as you'd think.
I grew to like her.
Re: Japanese Charts: Story Of Seasons Makes A Grand Debut On Switch And Switch 2
Story of Seasons Grand Bazaar is probably the best farming game in the last 15 years that isn't Stardew Valley and the best one since Stardew Valley.
It's so so good.
Re: Review: Star Wars Outlaws (Switch 2) - An Underrated Adventure, A Super-Solid Port
Just not even remotely worth the price to play a far lesser version.
This is a $29.99 game max that even then is hard to justify at that price on Switch 2.
Re: The Force Isn't Strong With Star Wars Outlaws On Switch 2, Initial Impressions Suggest
This doesn't surprise me one bit.
Ubisoft has zero quality control these days and the Switch 2 as awesome as it is for first party isn't impressing me much with the ports we've seen.
Sure Cyberpunk is impressive given its a handheld but that's still a rough running game overall.
It's 2025 and 60 fps at 1080p shouldn't be that difficult.
Re: Surprise! PS1 Cult Classic 'Fear Effect' Just Shadow-Dropped On Switch

Re: Surprise! PS1 Cult Classic 'Fear Effect' Just Shadow-Dropped On Switch
Sigh....another Switch game that will likely look terrible on Switch 2 when playing handheld.
Nintendo really needs to patch the console to display 1080p when in Handheld mode.
Re: Review: Story Of Seasons: Grand Bazaar - Nintendo Switch 2 Edition - The Series' Best Remake Yet
So excited for this game and the review is exactly what I was hoping to hear.
Re: Review: Drag x Drive (Switch 2) - A Real Baller With Friends, But Is There Enough To Do?
If Arms couldn't last this game really doesn't have a shot in my opinion.

Re: Review: Super Mario Party Jamboree - Nintendo Switch 2 Edition + Jamboree TV - A Fantastic Addition To An All-Time Party Game
@TheExile285 turned this from an instant buy to not touching it.
Terrible they didn't do updates to the base game.
Re: Tony Hawk Reiterates Decisions Behind Song Choices In Pro Skater 3 + 4
The soundtrack is truly awful.
It's basically the same sounding songs over and over and they aren't good.
Shame to be honest they didn't add in more from the first two games.
Re: Harvest Moon's New "Cozy" Bundle Slightly Delayed For Switch
Two terrible games that years later look to run like complete trash.
Why even bother?
Re: Digital Foundry Is "Happy" With Switch 2 But Feels The Screen Is "Problematic"
So frustrating that a company for a handheld hybrid would cheap out on arguably the most important piece when viewing in handheld.
How can a Vita from over a decade ago have a better screen?

Re: Random: Ouch! Switch 2 Owners Are Feeling The Pinch With The New Joy-Con
@tobsesta99 special can mean stupid too.
Plenty of people call stupid people or rude people special or funny people special.
Sorry people are too soft these days to understand that it isn't actually degrading.
R word fully concur it's not kind.
Re: Random: Ouch! Switch 2 Owners Are Feeling The Pinch With The New Joy-Con
@tobsesta99 yeah sorry if you're so soft that the words dumb and special offend you. Grow spine.
Re: Random: Ouch! Switch 2 Owners Are Feeling The Pinch With The New Joy-Con
You must be very special to get hurt putting a Joycon in.
Literally insane how dumb people can be.
Re: Splatoon 3 To Get Free Switch 2 Update Later This Week
Just a performance boost no resolution boost?
Oh Nintendo, never stop being yourselves.
Re: Fast Fusion Launch Trailer Gives Us Our Best Look At Switch 2 Gameplay
@AllBLK I'm all in on this.
I wish it had weapons or a mode with weapons like Wipeout did.
Regardless can't wait to play it.
Launch games I'm getting are
Fast Fusion
Mario Kart 8
Fantasy Life upgrade
Zelda Tears of the Kingdom Upgrade
Rune Factory
Street Fighter 6
Cyberpunk "sheer curiosity to see how it runs"
Bravely Default
Sonic X Generations
Re: Nintendo Updates Switch 2 Backwards Compatibility List
I'm trying to remember if games will naturally perform better on Switch 2 without an actual enhancement patch.
For example is Doom Eternal going to run better on Switch 2 even though there's no patch that is designed to boost visuals and framerate.
Re: Yooka-Laylee Dev Playtonic Is The Latest Studio Hit By Layoffs

Re: Nintendo Switch 2: Launch Games - All Day One Releases
Is this maybe the worst launch lineup for not only a Nintendo console but maybe any console?

Re: Rumour: 'Switch 2' Will Reportedly Be Officially Revealed This Thursday
Hopefully we will get a couple of game surprises or see Switch games running with better performance on the new console.
I hope we get a real Virtual Console again as well vs the slow drip we have seen with NSO.
Re: Rumour: Ubisoft Has "More Than Half A Dozen Games" Planned For Switch 2
Ah yes, all the games Ubisoft had to skip Switch due to the lack of power now years later becoming available on Nintendo's newest console likely with less features for 45% more than you can buy them elsewhere where they also aren't selling.
Re: Stardew Valley Creator Pledges To Never Charge Money For DLC Or Updates
I 100% believe Eric as well which is why if after all the after launch support he has given this game I would gladly pay $10 for it.
Re: Nintendo Expands Its Switch Online N64 Library With Three More Titles
@Maulbert I still remember playing Rogue Squadron for the first time. It was stunning to play and so much fun to chase medals.
Kind of nuts they haven't done an HD Remaster collection on Switch or resurrected the IP with a new game/reboot as online dog fights would be amazing.
I don't consider Squadron's a true sequel/successor but it was amazing to play in VR.
Re: Talking Point: Would You Like To See More Streaming Media Apps On 'Switch 2'?
See more streaming apps on Switch 2? You mean any at all? The Switch didn't even have Netflix lol.

So crushed to read this.
Re: Feature: "I Don't Want To Copy" - Paying Homage To Childhood RPGs With Sea Of Stars
After what feels like ten years of hearing about Sea of Stars this game better be decent.
Re: New Harvest Moon: The Winds Of Anthos Trailer Gives First Look At Gameplay Footage
Maybe, just maybe Harvest Moon can still launch a solid game.
The framerate looks absolutely awful but hopefully they can get it running smooth for PC and powerful consoles.
Always willing to give my old friend Harvest Moon a try.
Re: Zelda: TOTK Playtimes Start To Appear, And Some People Haven't Been Getting A Lot Of Sleep
I really miss the Wii U and Wii playtime and usage App.
Was really cool to track.
Re: Expect More Open-World Zelda Games Going Forwards, Suggests Eiji Aonuma
I mean an open world Wind Waker follow up would be amazing.
They could also really do a killer OoT Remake that was open world but that's a game I also feel just needs to be left alone.

Zero HD Metroid or MP4, no update for Mario Party All Stars....just a bad direct as per usual.
Re: House Of The Dead: Remake Gets An Update, Here Are The Patch Notes
@Bunkerneath I'm honestly stunned light gun games haven't come roaring back with the Switch but also for VR.
Imagine a new Area 51 in VR or a new Time Crisis.
Would be so much fun and way more immersive.
Re: XIII Remake Is Finally Coming To Switch In September
Very rare as a game you get to watch a game crash and burn twice.
I saw it with Evolve and I guess I will see it again with this absolute joke of a remake.
It was beyond repair the last time I even bothered with it.
The studio tasked with the fix is a joke too.
Can't wait to see how bad the patch is.
Shame as I loved XIII for the OG XBOX.
Re: Nintendo Direct Mini To Air Tomorrow, June 28
Mehhhh, third party games that have likely been out years elsewhere with watered down features and graphics for full Nintendo Tax price don't really interest me at all.

Re: Apparently There's A 1-2-Switch Sequel In The Works At Nintendo, And Everyone Hates It

Re: Harvest Moon Added To Japan's Switch Online Super Famicom Library
From a time when the Harvest Moon franchise was awesome.
Harvest Moon for the SNES - Back to Nature on the Nintendo 64 were some of the best.
A Wonderful Life was fairly solid also but would really benefit from a 60fps boost with a remaster or something.
