Re: 'Yooka-Laylee' Creator Playtonic Expands With Second Studio

SpacedDuck

So I'm a bit out of the loop lately with Playtonic.

Have they got anything coming out that is currently announced yet or have they been basically working in the shadows since Impossible Lair?

Just curious as that game was out a long time ago so it really makes me wonder what they are working on.

If you ask me it has to be non Yooka related to really stretch their legs.

Re: Round Up: The Reviews Are In For Capcom's Monster Hunter Rise PC Port

SpacedDuck

@CharlieGirl yes it's possible notice how I mentioned that the other reason it's not in is because Capcom doesn't care about gamers? All the games you listed are made by caring developers who actually make games well.

Given how hard it is to work within Nintendo's ancient network my point still stands that lazy developers like Capcom won't go that extra mile.

I never said it wasn't possible.

Re: Round Up: The Reviews Are In For Capcom's Monster Hunter Rise PC Port

SpacedDuck

@CharlieGirl this game has two brutal things going against it for Crossplay.

1. It's a Capcom game and they straight up don't care about gamers and haven't for a long ass time.

2. This was a Nintendo game and Nintendo is at a minimum 10 years behind everyone else for making things easy in terms of saves/online and transfers.

Even if Capcom cared I'm sure making something compatible with Switch would have been a pain in the ass.

Re: Soapbox: Can We Please Retire The Phrase 'Lazy Devs' Already?

SpacedDuck

@Astral-Grain toxic berries aren't sold in stores so stop saying stupid stuff.

Your logic also doesn't make sense about all the stuff I listed having user reviews because guess what everything I listed if fully broken or faulty would be eligible for a full no questions asked refund if in that state.

That's all I'm saying is all games regardless of where it is purchased should be eligible for a full refund within 48 hours.

Digital, physical doesn't matter.

You'd see a big change in Devs efforts if 70% of their sales got refunded within that timeframe from crappy work practices.

Making games is for sure hard.

Playing them to confirm they work properly before you take people's money isn't hard.

Re: Soapbox: Can We Please Retire The Phrase 'Lazy Devs' Already?

SpacedDuck

@Astral-Grain I'm sorry but I disagree with your stance about this. Saying I shouldn't buy the product without checking reviews is just another get out of jail free card for how lazy developers have become.

Here are some examples of other businesses who sell products and media

Imagine going to a movie where the audio didn't work or scenes were put in the wrong order

Buying an album where the tracks slipped

Buying a magazine where some pages were blank or poor with image quality.

People but all of those things with the assumption that the product will have some level of quality put into them.

Then we get to gaming and for some reason bugs that were obvious after ten minutes of starting the game are fully overlooked and ignored.

So why again do games get a free pass for this absolutely insane laziness and cost cutting?

Don't give me the BS that making games is hard either. So are the jobs movie makers have and magazine writers and music producers.

We have just hit a point where there's no punishment for these lazy devs.

Re: Soapbox: Can We Please Retire The Phrase 'Lazy Devs' Already?

SpacedDuck

I will gladly stop referring to developers as lazy the second a majority of the following stops

  • Games launch with obvious bugs playing the game for ten minutes would present to a tester
  • Games stop launching missing content
Full refunds across all buying formats are available for all worldwide within 24 hours of purchase so broken games can be refunded
  • Games aren't launched that are unplayable until a patch is released "typically weeks or months later"
  • Content that was promised was not available at launch but hidden from gamers that it would not be there

Cure all that and I'm all in on never calling a dev lazy or shady again.

As a consumer I'll until then call them whatever the hell I want if I don't get what I paid for.

Re: Nintendo Reveals Three More Classic Boards For Mario Party Superstars

SpacedDuck

So they keep talking about how the game has 5 boards from the Nintendo 64 games but is it just 5 boards total or 5 from the N64 ones and others from the Gamecube ones also?

I'm getting it either way as the 5 boards from the N64 game alone are worth it vs the trash boards Super Mario Party had where there's literally no challenge to circling.

Re: Mario Golf: Super Rush's Split-Screen Will Be Restricted To Two Players Per Switch

SpacedDuck

I'll be honest what I've seen so far about this games is disappointing.

The original Nintendo 64 Mario Golf and Gamecube, 3DS versions were all fantastic as they had Mushroom Kingdom inspired courses but they were lame arcade like ones with enemy hazards etc.

I also feel it won't be as fun for those who just enjoy a good round of golf but with Mario characters as Mario Golf 64 was one of my favorite golf games period as it kept the Mario charm but also added a nice golf challenge.

I hope that I'm wrong but from the courses I've seen so far I'm very worried this will be a misstep.

Re: Talking Point: Are There Too Many Harvest Moon-Likes On The Market?

SpacedDuck

There are too many phoned in ones on the market.

I don't think well done ones would ever get boring if they all add their own strengths.

For me Stardew Valley is the absolute best game for multiple reasons but games like Back to Nature and HM 64 will always hold a special place in my heart as they were the pinnacle.

I'd love an absolutely loaded with features HM Back to Nature remake one day using that art style with Stardew Valley level exploring, crafting and combat.

Re: Story Of Seasons: Pioneers Of Olive Town Is Getting Patched, A Lot

SpacedDuck

I had high hopes for the Story of Seasons franchise after Story of Seasons Friends of Mineral town brought back the amazing Harvest Moon 64/Back to Nature style only to see them screw up yet again.

How both Natsume and these guys can continue to let a dude who literally makes a better game on his own kick their ass is mind boggling.

Re: Apex Legends' Switch Version Has Been Delayed

SpacedDuck

With Nintendo's absolutely joke online services this game can stay delayed.

I can only imagine how horribly it will run yet alone lag and chug while using the awful Nintendo online service.

Love Nintendo but use some of that money for once to invest in something that is cutting edge.

The come out with all of these cool ideas like the Switch, Mario Kart Live, Labo, HD Rumble etc but can't do something Xbox and PS3 did like 20 years ago.

Re: Rumour: New Switch Model Launching Early 2021, According To Taiwanese Newspaper

SpacedDuck

Given its Nintendo they'll find a way to release a more "powerful" console but they'd find a way to mess a bunch of other things up.

Imagine if Nintendo actually invested some of the money they have into making the most powerful console of the big 3 vs always having the weakest with the worst online features.

They'd be unstoppable if they had both their first party lineup but best versions of the third party Devs.
