Re: Pokémon Company President Doesn't Think We'll See Mainline Games On Smartphones

Sir_JBizzle

Well obviously the real reason is they want to sell the mainline games on dedicated hardware. Smartphone sales would probably be the deathblow for Pokémon on Nintendo hardware. Also there's so many smartphone hardware configurations on Android that it would be difficult to to get a consistent experience across all devices, granted it's gotten much better than even a couple years ago which is like an eternity in the smart device business.

Outside of money changing hands, there's a reason Super Mario Run is being developed for Apple first.

Re: Waiting For Wii U To Drop In Price? Not Going To Happen, Says Nintendo

Sir_JBizzle

@rjejr they probably should just take a loss on system. I think 230 with a couple pack-ins (the selects if they want to go the cheap route) is fair enough like GameStop's pre-owned bundle.

http://m.gamestop.com/product/wii-u/consoles/wii-u-system-32gb-blast-from-the-past-bundle/133609

I'm not sure if it's still the Gamepad costs that's causing Nintendo to say "nah" on a price drop. And I'm sure retailers hate discounting Nintendo products, paticularly since they don't drop MSRP often, so they don't receive any rebates for prices cuts, which is why stores, paticularly smaller ones, are reluctant to buy any titles in great numbers.

That pitch for the NES mini is too smart for Nintendo to dream up. Haha

Re: Waiting For Wii U To Drop In Price? Not Going To Happen, Says Nintendo

Sir_JBizzle

@rjejr To add to that, (So I don't have to do it in a edit) I could see a scenario where they could drop the price of the base unit as a SKU, and bundle a couple pieces of software with it to bring it up to $299 as another SKU. As it is, I don't think there's a Wii U for sale in NA that isn't bundled with an evergreen title. (I could be wrong on that)

Re: Waiting For Wii U To Drop In Price? Not Going To Happen, Says Nintendo

Sir_JBizzle

@rjejr Woah! Blast from the past! I had to scroll up to remember what I said

Three years later? No. Absolutely not. Really, if they wanted to drop the price of the Wii U, it should have been done a year ago, when the releases started to really dry up. Though honestly, what would dropping the price do for the Wii U now that it's at EOL? I still don't think they'd fly off the shelves, especially with almost no software support to speak of, even from Nintendo themselves. Which is the primary reason both the PS4 and XBox One are selling. Hell, MS bundles 15 games with their systems. (exaggeration, of course)

Also, I'd have to imagine at this point, Nintendo is still making profit off their evergreen titles and they are just fine with that. They still have two more shots of getting away with selling the Wii U at the current $299 MSRP: Paper Mario and BoTW. After that, I could see them dropping the price. To make it through the holiday season, if they even advertise the Wii U at all, I could see them putting together some attractive bundles to get remaining stock off the shelves in time for the NX. Heck. In March, I could see them bundling BotW with the Wii U as a "parting gift" of sorts after that, the fire sale begins!

Re: Microsoft Blocks NESBox Emulator On Xbox One

Sir_JBizzle

@Kirk though there's nothing wrong with emulators and they are perfectly legal, I'd imagine Microsoft is trying to avoid any headaches in defending the UWP program and any repercussions involved by allowing the app through. Even if it didn't hold up in litigation.

Heck, I wouldn't be surprised at all if MS blocked the app on the grounds of its name alone, as everyone knows what a NES is regardless of the fact you put 'box' at the end. Especially with mini NES around the corner, may as well err on the side of caution.

Re: Analysts Expect Nintendo NX Reveal by Early October and Make Bold Super Mario Run Predictions

Sir_JBizzle

@rjejr of course January or February makes just as much sense, especially if the thing is already ready. I mean from reveal to POS for the PS4 Pro is only two months. Of course my thinking is after December, unless you're banking on some tax refund or have money to burn, or you got a bunch of money for Christmas, you're not thinking buying another $400 piece of hardware after the holidays, as you already spent all your money holiday shopping.

May as well reveal in late October (after the PSVR) or November (around the Pro launch) to try to get some holiday sales in and gague interest and firm up some stock number estimates, so folks won't scramble looking for it in March. Also it would help to take some of the wind out of Sony's sails (which is largely dependent on how appealing the NX will be)

I think someone mentioned a trickle of info up until launch, but I which I can see that scenario as well. Initial reveal, followed by the a series of Directs touting various features and line up of games.

Re: Nintendo Is Interested In Bringing amiibo Support To Smartphones

Sir_JBizzle

Honestly, I'm surprised that it hadn't been done yet... Actually I probably shouldn't. Nintendo wasn't quite ready for mobile when amiibo launched. Though maybe my dream of an amiibo app will come true. I even think I've mentioned it on here before.

They could develop an amiibo locker app that's free to download and put digital amiibo up for sale in the app. Buying a digital amiibo would not only unlock amiibo functionality, but gives you a bio on the character and what games he/she were featured in with links to the appropriate games on the eshop.

To use the amiibo in the actual game, you just open the app, select the amiibo you want to use and tap it on the device. The amiibo app would track the the level your amiibo is on in games like Smash, what unlocks you've acquired in paticular games like Mario Kart, and how many matches or coins you've won in a game like Mario Party ect...

For folks that have amiibo already, they could just tap their amiibo on their phone and all the info transfers over. It's a much more convenient option than to have to lug around cards/figures with you all the time. Obviously the card and figures would still be for sale for collectors.

While we're on NFC, I'm not sure why Nintendo doesn't have an eshop digital app. Load funds on the bad boy and tap to pay. Sure, you could just buy from the website, but it's a nice to have if you buy eshop cards. In a perfect world you could just scan a QR code and the funds would be added to the app.

EDIT: though I should say something with substance. I haven't gotten the game yet myself, mainly because I need to stop buying games that I'm not going to get to straight away. But it does look fun, so I'm for sure going to get it sometime down the road. Shame it's not performing well, even if it comes as no surprise.

Yea... totally been struggling to find anything to spend these stupid plats on. Even if the exchange right rate is high, I'm with @JaxonH, I'd rather have eshop wide discounts, so I can buy whatever I bloomin want. This Plat coin count would be even higher if I didn't stop caring as much for Miitomo in the recent weeks. As it stands I won't even be able to spend it all. Though I do hope they give you a notice when you have coins expiring.

Re: We Have To Do A Better Job Of Explaining The Uniqueness Of NX, Admits Reggie

Sir_JBizzle

@aaronsullivan @ThanosRexxx @rjejr "One of the things that we have to do better when we launch the NX—we have to do a better job communicating the positioning for the product."

To be fair, one could also argue that the NX is one entity that spans multiple devices much like how the Triforce is a singular thing, when broken up its three pieces of an entity. I mean they did say NX was a platform afterall. 😊

In any case, as full as hot air Reggie seems to have at times, hopefully lessons are actually being learned this time.

Re: The Latest Super Sentai 3DS Tie-In Tries to Make Tile Matching Exciting

Sir_JBizzle

@Ryu_Niiyama I had to look it up, but I actually do remember now that my memory was refreshed. Specifically Ultraman Towards the Future ('92) and Ultraman Tigard ('97). There were two others that preceeded that aired in the US, but I don't recall ever seeing those.

One series I'm sad never took off in the US would have to be the Kamen Rider series.

It will be interesting to see how the Power Rangers adaption of Ninninger tries to explain a "Cowboy Ninja" if they even try to explain it at all...

Re: The Latest Super Sentai 3DS Tie-In Tries to Make Tile Matching Exciting

Sir_JBizzle

@TheHumbleFellow right. I kinda wanted them to adapt Go Busters, but I think it was a rare case of the toys (and I believe the show) bombing in Japan. Plus they went went to Kyoryuger which I would imagine in the West, Dinosaurs > Secret Agents.

@BensonUii did they actually air the older sentai series in your part of the world as a child? If so, I gotta say that's pretty awesome as the 5 year old me would've eaten that stuff up. Probably Ultraman as well, had they aired it in the US.

Re: The Latest Super Sentai 3DS Tie-In Tries to Make Tile Matching Exciting

Sir_JBizzle

I'm a Power Rangers and Sentai fan, but I gotta say, that one looks pretty darn awful. I think they may finally ran out of ideas out east. Lol.

Though Power Rangers most always adapts it's Sentai counterpart differently and from what I understand about their deal is that Saban can't skip a series unless they can prove the toys won't be profitable for a particular season. For instance Power Rangers is skipping the Train season and will go straight to the Ninja season in February because well... Ninjas > than trains.

Re: Darksiders: Warmastered Edition Will Run At 30 FPS On Wii U

Sir_JBizzle

@BensonUii that's a complicated one, as it depends on the title really. If everything is technically the same and it runs well, the yes. I'll more than likely choose the Xbox version of the game, the only thing that doesn't really need parity is resolution, as I rarely care if a game doesn't go full 1080p. 900p is well and close enough for me.

If there isn't feature parity, then I'll go to the platform that has the content. If it's multi-player, then it depends on where most of my friends are playing. Call me lazy, but I also like the fact that the XBox One has a TV pass through, so it's as simple as telling Cortana to go to [game] or [app].

Concerning Darksiders, I had the original on the Xbox 360,so I may as well get the remaster on the One

Re: Video: This Raspberry Pi-Powered, 3D Printed NES Mini Puts Nintendo's Effort To Shame

Sir_JBizzle

@BensonUii re: comment #10 though it wouldn't be a terrible idea to load VC on a NES mini. For those who only care about retro gaming, downloading and paying from eShop would be great for them. If NX is "platform" and Nintendo actually does something like crossbuy, then your purchases would simply carry over to the other platforms. That's great for those retro gamers that finally decide to buy a Nintendo platform, and for those of us who already own one.

One could theoretically have a retro gaming night and I have to bring are there mini consoles. 😊

@JaxonH I wouldn't be surprised if you already contacted the developer asking how much it would cost to make you one.

Re: Darksiders: Warmastered Edition Will Run At 30 FPS On Wii U

Sir_JBizzle

@BensonUii "Thanks Nordic Games for not giving up on Wii U owners! I'll buy this for sure especially because I have DS2."

My sentiments exactly! If I recall correctly, the original ran at 30fps, so that doesn't bother me in the slightest, but because Nordic hasn't given up on the Wii U and Nintendo, they should be rewarded. Not only will I buy this for the Wii U, I'll snag a copy for the Xbox One as well, as my way of supporting the Devs.

Re: Say Hello To The Site Which Lets You Find Rare Monsters Near You In Pokémon GO

Sir_JBizzle

I find it slightly amusing that those that are tired of seeing Pokemon Go articles, screaming, "CLICKBAIT" and "OMG ADREVENUEZ" yet, they click on through to the the article anyway. If it's that much of a problem, then I'd think you'd use the contact form to complain instead of giving them more ad revenue clicks. Also, I can count almost a dozen articles just in the past 24 hours that wasn't Go related. So what does that tell me? When there's other news to report, they'll report it. Right now, Go is the biggest thing that Nintendo really has going right now, so the content on the site would naturally skew towards Pokemon Go. And hey if it brings more eyeballs to this site from those that may be looking for Pokemon Go news, more power to NL.

Being that this is really the only Nintendo focused site I go to, and I am interested in Pokemon Go news, it doesn't bother me much. You know what I do when there's a article that doesn't interest me? I don't click on it. Really folks, it's that simple. Besides, the guys here have to keep the lights on somehow.

Re: Minecraft: Wii U Edition Makes Top 20 Debut in UK Charts

Sir_JBizzle

@SLIGEACH_EIRE you guys must not have gotten a strong allocation across the pond. Here in the NA, gamestop is still selling copies of the Limited, though that could be the case of everyone that wanted it pretty much got it from Best Buy and Amazon (for the 20% discount)

But concerning limited editions: it wouldn't be too much of one if there was a ample stock, would it? Especially for niche a game like #FE. Do you really blame Nintendo for being conservative of the print numbers?

Re: Review: Mario & Sonic at the Rio 2016 Olympic Games (Wii U)

Sir_JBizzle

@abbyhitter same here. I've always thought the Mario and Sonic games as shovelware as well. A cash grab much akin to how publishers release movie tie-in games. They generally end up being bad or mediocre.

That said, I've never played one of these, so I can't really attest to the quality of previous installments.

Re: Miyamoto and Bill Trinen Discuss Why Breath of the Wild is Called an "Open Air Adventure"

Sir_JBizzle

This is just Nintendo being Nintendo. Heck I'm surprised it hasn't been mentioned that Nintendo doesn't call Smash Bros a "fighter"

They are like Apple of the video game world, calling something that exists something else for the sake of sounding unique or cooler. Not that I have a problem with it. It's their game, they can label what they want. No need in being fussed about it.

Re: Editorial: Nintendo Did A Solid Job at E3 2016, But That Didn't Ease Long-Term Concerns

Sir_JBizzle

I'm not all that concerned. I'm late to the party, so maybe some one has made this point (I don't dare read all 200 comments right now)

Outside of BotW, Nintendo hasn't announced what will and what won't release on the system. Hell, we don't even know what the thing looks like or what it does (outside of playing games obviously) Ubi announcing Just Dance and nothing else makes semse to me. I mean has a Just Dance ever missed a Nintendo system? It's a sure thing, which is why they may have been allowed to announce it. It's the one game that will look the same and have parity across platforms.

I'd imagine Ubi and others will wait to let the cat out of the bag when the NX supports, most likely because NDA or something.

Just my 2 cents.
