Re: Editorial: With Lowered Expectations E3 Can Still Be Full of Nintendo Magic

Sir_JBizzle

I don't know, I still think Nintendo had more than Zelda planned, as they still said it was the only playable game, and not the only game period. Perhaps they were going to keep some things under wraps until wrath of of Internet came down upon them, so they decided to reveal some more (or the rest of their plans if you're a pessimist. Lol)

In the end, who really knows except Nintendo?

Re: Poll: Are You Excited About Nintendo's Expanded E3 Plans?

Sir_JBizzle

@rjejr that's a really creepy picture. Haha

Like I said yesterday, I was pretty sure they said Zelda was the only playable game, not the only game.

Anyhoot, I'm not really that bummed about Nintendo's E3. I mean it was no surprise that they wouldn't have much to show, especially if they started to shift all their development focus to NX. As long as we get news on the NX by years end I'll be content (heck they may have even wanted to wait until Sony and MS got their hardware announcements out of way) I have plenty enough on other systems to keep me entertained until Zelda and their new system.

Re: Nintendo Sure Has Booked A Lot Of Floor Space For E3 2016

Sir_JBizzle

Didn't Nintendo say that Zelda was the only playable game at E3 or did they say it was the only game? I thought it was the former. If it is the former, then they might have other games to at least show. (fingers crossed) though I won't be mad if all they have to offer is Zelda, as long as NX news or whatever follows soonish after E3.

Re: Writer Of Divisive New Mega Man Cartoon Asks Fans To Give It A Chance

Sir_JBizzle

@Trinexx if I'm being honest, I LOVED the EXE design, it rivals X as my favorite in my mind.

@AlexSora89 wait, what? There's a new Duck Tales cartoon coming? I thought they were just doing a comic. I'm all aboard that if true!

@3MonthBeef Haha. That sounds about right. I always try to stay down the middle on these things. I guess that would be either slightly pessimistic or cautiously optimistic.

Re: Writer Of Divisive New Mega Man Cartoon Asks Fans To Give It A Chance

Sir_JBizzle

@AlexSora89 though Ben 10 and Ultimate Spider-Man looks great... This, at first glance, not so much. It looks like half cel-shaded, half CG something. Or It could be just the pose they chose to show of this MegaMan.

But like I said to some friends and even here, I don't mind the story set up, it's Man of Action, so I know it will be at the very least watchable. I do like the fact they they are shaking the plot up a bit. And it might actually look good in motion, much like how TMNT (2012) almost instantly became my favorite iteration of the Turtles after initially bemoaning the art work and finding out it was CG. But I feel like with MM they didn't choose the best of a first image. It's really off putting to me, and that's really my only criticism on the matter. Just because I express my opinion, doesn't make me or anyone else whiney.

On the other hand, I am aching for a new mainline MegaMan game whether it's traditional MM, X or ZX... But that's a whole separate issue that has nothing to do with the cartoon.

Re: Next Year's Mega Man Cartoon Looks Certain To Maintain Proud Tradition Of Annoying Fans

Sir_JBizzle

I saw this yesterday and threw up in my mouth a little bit. Man of Action is involved, so I'm reserving judgment (also it gives me a little hope), but the character design is really off putting. I feel like there was a way to do it without it looking like... Well I don't know what it looks like.

As far as the premise, I'm actually fine with it, I just view it as being in a seperate continuity, much like EXE (Battle Network) maybe we'll even get new video games out of this.

@luigifan624 the TMNT has had enough design revisions over the years from source material for me to not even care about the wraps, they honestly look alright to me. The movie Turtles however... (sigh)

Re: Random: Store Shelves Appear To Be Filling With Pre-Owned Copies Of Star Fox Zero

Sir_JBizzle

@FragRed indeed happens with every game. More anecdotal accounts here, but every gamestop in my area has used copies of of the highly rated Uncharted 4. and that game has been out hardly two weeks.

Concerning Star Fox Zero. It's hardly surprising. It was a very divisive game from first showing. I'd imagine some people couldn't get a grip on the controls. Others, since the game was so short, got everything they could out of it in short order. Me?personally I own it digitally and physically and as I rarely trade in games, I've no intention of doing so this occasion. I particularly enjoy the game. As a matter of fact, with a little polish and some added features like online, I hope the same control scheme is retained if they make another one for the NX (with the option of standard controls for the faint of heart).

Re: Nintendo Plans Corporate Changes That Point to Diverse Business Moves

Sir_JBizzle

@Yorumi you can't delay something that never had a release date in the first place. Zelda on the other hand... Yea. That's almost always delayed, so that was highly expected.

As far as Iwata, well to put it as gently as possible, he's not the president anymore, so perhaps the new brass felt it wasn't ready to be revealed? Who knows... To be fair, we got NX details earlier than E3. That it's coming in 2017, Zelda is a NX game and that more details are coming at an indeterminate date. that's more info than what we had 2 years ago

Re: Nintendo Plans Corporate Changes That Point to Diverse Business Moves

Sir_JBizzle

@Yorumi

"could they give one single tiny bit of positive news?"

I see that more of a matter of perspective than anything else. The Wii U, yes, is all but dead but it's not like we didn't get SOME great games out of the thing (which again, can be highly subjective depending on who you ask for instance, I think Star Fox and MP10 are great) one thing has always constant when it come to Nintendo, their new systems are always shrouded in mystery. They've always held their cards close their chest.

Sure, they're not showing the NX at E3, but good news is that said they are going to reveal it. How is that not positive news. So they aren't showing it at E3, big whoop. There's no rulebook saying they have to reveal it there. I'd rather them reveal it when they are ready and have a slate of games to be excited about and ready to play day one, then show it at E3 before they are ready and have another Wii U on our hands. Which seems to be one of your complaints. In a way, just dropping the Wii U and rebooting is just fine with me if we get a potentially better system out of it (fingers crossed)

Also, we know NX is coming. These new ventures is just another announcement that could be years down the line, just like the NX was when it was announced. I'm not really worried until there is something to be worried about. I will give you this though, I can totally see how the support dropping for Wii U would upset some, but in no way was it sudden. Anybody who was paying attention could see that from a long way off. Which I would imagine is most most of us here. Even the most hardcore Nintendo fanboy defenders.

Re: Nintendo Plans Corporate Changes That Point to Diverse Business Moves

Sir_JBizzle

@Yorumi @LordGeovanni surely the the folks that handle the games wouldn't be handling the expansion hence the word expansion. Much like Sony and Microsoft have department heads, or really almost every company in existence, so would Nintendo's other ventures, I'd imagine.

Also, like I said in another comment, it's long term thinking. I wouldn't think they would jump into all these new ventures at once. It's something that takes planning.

The Wii U wasn't successful from jump, Kimishima knew that it wouldn't be, as been documented. Naturally upon becoming president he would kill it and kill it swiftly. So I wasn't at all surprised about that. This is just speculation on my part, but I imagine everyone at Nintendo started moving development towards NX, hence the severe lack of Wii U output and one could argue it effected 3DS output as well. Which would also explain why they contracted out their work.

@Tasuki

"It's just another evolution phase for Nintendo that's all. People need to realize Nintendo started as a card company, got into toys and other things and then video games you don't stay around for 100 years without evolving."

You have capsulized my thoughts in two simple sentences.

Re: Nintendo Plans Corporate Changes That Point to Diverse Business Moves

Sir_JBizzle

@DarkKirby does Microsoft put less emphasis on other areas because of Xbox? Or Sony because of Playstation? Why can't a company expand, without it meaning something terrible. I mean granted Nintendo is a much smaller company when compared to their contemporaries, but that doesn't mean they can't expand if they do it smartly.

I'm not sure why using their IP in other ways means they are essentially jumping ship.

Re: Nintendo Plans Corporate Changes That Point to Diverse Business Moves

Sir_JBizzle

@rjejr yea I'm not too sure about the whole restaurant thing... Maybe perhaps if it was in Universal Studios or something? Though I'm sure Nintendo is playing the long game with these ventures. They surely wouldn't say, "Let's do all the things. AT ONCE!"

I'd imagine they could develop more arcade games if they wanted to. Heck, I wouldn't mind seeing an arcade version of Smash Bros. Or a new F Zero or Waverace Arcade game. Or even updated versions of classics like the original Donkey Kong.

Re: Nintendo Plans Corporate Changes That Point to Diverse Business Moves

Sir_JBizzle

Hasn't Nintendo always said they were more than a video game company anyway? All of this sorta falls in line with that statement. It's not like they haven't been involved in other ventures before.

It almost makes you wonder why they didn't do this sooner. They have IP. They have brand recognition. So why not? With the gaming landscape changing and production costs ballooning, it makes total sense to leverage the Nintendo name in other areas.

Re: Nintendo is Getting Into the Movie Business

Sir_JBizzle

Could it be? My long standing dream of a Zelda and Metroid movie will finally come true??

Though I wonder about the "in-house" comment. Perhaps that's to say they'd want to retain as much creative control as possible? We all know what happens when they license their property out in that regard.

Re: Nintendo is Selling its Majority Stake in the Seattle Mariners

Sir_JBizzle

It's like when you're strapped for cash, and you have to pawn your favorite guitar... I don't know why @JaxonH is talking about china.

But yea I'm sure owning a baseball team is a useless asset, so why not sell it? Who knows what kind of ROI they were getting from it, especially if it's not a paticularly winning franchise. (No offense to Mariners fans )

Re: Reaction: The NX Release in March 2017 and How It Changes the Game

Sir_JBizzle

@Ryu_Niiyama I was like:

Untitled

I mean if I had the choice to not pay, overpay or otherwise in my almost 20 years of working I surely would've taken up on that. Ha. But yea, I personally wouldn't bank my budget on getting a return, but my overall pointwad that it could be advantageous to have a console launch during tax season.

Re: Reaction: The NX Release in March 2017 and How It Changes the Game

Sir_JBizzle

@Yorumi mentally deficient? That's a little heavy handed. I mean it's one of those things that is what it is... Folks work hard for their check, the government takes it off the top and folks get excited to see some of that come back to them.

Alternatively, there are folks who apparently didn't pay enough and are seethed they have to pay the government back, so there's that

Re: Reaction: The NX Release in March 2017 and How It Changes the Game

Sir_JBizzle

Is March really that bad of an idea? Personally I think it's great idea. E3 is crowded. Let Zelda have the spotlight. The Holiday is crowded. Let Sony/MS have that. Everyone talks about how everyone spent their Christmas money, but Nintendo is releasing the NX during income tax season, where arguably folks have more money to burn then during Christmas. Who's competing for that income tax refund? Car dealerships, electronic stores trying to sell you TVs and furniture places. Not much in the video game sector.

I wonder if maybe Nintendo will take a page out of the Sony/MS book and hold their own event for the NX and call it the "Nintendo Xperience" or something like that (see what I did there? ) If not there's other events before launch like PAX and whatnot they could show it off at. Heck depending on how crazy the concept is, they could even reveal it at CES. Make a run at the non-gaming community. Just my two cents.

Re: Shake-Up to Nintendo Board Brings New Job Titles for Reggie Fils-Aime and Satoru Shibata

Sir_JBizzle

I doubt this means very much for Reggie and Shibata. I've always viewed them low on the pecking order anyways. They were really no more than glorified branch office managers, the folks that run the day to day operations of their respective regions.

Honestly, I think having outside directors could be a good thing. I'm assuming they'll basically act as consultants. Nintendo was so darn slow to adapt when things were kept internally, they need some outside blood to smack them in the face if needed. As long as the influence yields positive results for the consumer. Then I have no problem with it.

Re: Guide: Getting Started With Star Fox Zero and Mastering the Controls

Sir_JBizzle

@JaxonH I'm in the same boat. No one to co-op with. The real shame is no multiplayer dog fighting. Online or otherwise. It doesn't break the core experience, but still a bummer nonetheless. Hopefully this does well enough to get another starfox entry on the NX. I'd imagine they'd have much more time to build upon Zero's foundation!

Re: Guide: Getting Started With Star Fox Zero and Mastering the Controls

Sir_JBizzle

@VanillaLake with the controls being as divisive as they are, it doesn't surprise me that Nintendo is holding off on a demo. I'm sure after initial sales dies down, they'll realease a demo to the on-the-fencers. Which would be smart on Nintendo's part.

As for my opinion, now that I've played it for a good bit last night, my opinion is much like @JaxonH the game is great! And yes, I've played every Star Fox game since the SNES. Trying to justify the the existence of the Gamepad aside, that's the thing that makes the game great. It's a control scheme that I hope can be aped for a Rouge Squadron game of something of the like one day. If that makes me part of the Nintendo Defense Force, so be it, I suppose.

Re: Talking Point: Nintendo Wants Us to Download More and Move On From Discs - Will It Work?

Sir_JBizzle

I think the whole thing is overblown. Nintendo is more than likely seeking parity with it's gaming contemporaries. The My Nintendo reward program is essentially their version of programs already in place at Sony and Mircrosoft.

While physical buyers may feel shafted, one thing to remember, which has already been mentioned is you can either find the game cheaper at retail, or a discount is received as being a part of another loyalty program or even used. Gotta throw digital buyers a bone, ya know? Especially since Ninty isn't as generous with eShop discounts. With the case of Nintendo, physical buyers are getting special first print perks, be it an amiibo bundled in (TPHD) Steelcase or bonus games (Star Fox Zero) or early access to full games (Fire Emblem Fates Special Edition, not to mention IT'S THREE GAMES ON ONE CART! how awesome is that?) So it's clear that Nintendo isn't abandoning physical games anytime soon. Not to mention, Nintendo has the collector's market on lock what with how people snap up 3DSes with different paint jobs chief among the many other collectibles.

@JaxonH well said... Though:

(and even on other platforms you'd have to sign in and download the game and updates to another console- so much easier to just bring your disk and pop it in)

To play Devil's advocate: With this gen it's almost no difference, given the fact that once you pop that disk in, you have to wait for it to install to your hard drive and still download any patches that may be available. Though if you're on a console with a spotty connection at best, it would still be advantageous to have a physical copy. With that said, at least with the XBox One, I can just detach my external drive, plug it in another XB1, sign in and have my whole collection with me.

Re: My Nintendo Rewards Start on 17th March in Japan, Alongside Miitomo Launch

Sir_JBizzle

I'm actually surprised at how shocked everyone is about this, as if the writing wasn't on the wall during the first couple years of the Wii U's existence being the Deluxe Rewards program was practically a test bed for My Nintendo Rewards. All this does for Nintendo, is bring some sort of parity with the rewards programs that Microsoft and Sony currently have (Though XBOX Live Rewards, to be fair gives you 15,000 points [$15] for pre-ordering physical games from their store)

None of this means that they are abandoning physical sales, I'm sure there will still be physical copies for those that prefer that method. Though I see how it sucks being that for those who prefer physical. My Nintendo Rewards feels like a step down from Club Nintendo.

Also, just because they may not be doing rewards for physical buyers now, doesn't mean tweaks to the program won't be made. For now, I'll just be happy with the points I get from Gamestop and Best Buy and the discount I get from Amazon when I purchase hard copies.

Re: Twilight Princess HD Nearly Had Wii Remote Controls

Sir_JBizzle

@Detective_TeeJay

"I'm shocked people actually liked the tacked-on waggle controls of the Wii version, but I guess I shouldn't be..."

I'm shocked people actually have opinions. (Winnie the Pooh snicker) though seriously, I did enjoy them, so the little bit I played of TPHD before I left town felt a little weird because I'm so used to the Wii controls.

@rjejr perhaps since it was such a quick project, they didn't have time to include the motion controls in Nintendo's defence. Also it was outsourced, so I don't know how much that comes into play. That said, Wii is almost literally a souped up Wii that was a souped up GCN, so it does baffle me they didn't include it since like you said, they had code for both. Unless the code between the two is that radically different.
