Re: Masahiro Sakurai on Keeping Super Smash Bros. Fresh

Sir_JBizzle

@sinalefa aaaah Power Stone! Capcom's long forgotten gem... That's actually a great idea to spin off Smash in that vein. Hell Capcom could even work alongside Nintendo to develop. It could even retain the area knock out component a la Soul Blade.

Now excuse me while I go dust off my Dreamcast.

Re: Masahiro Sakurai on Keeping Super Smash Bros. Fresh

Sir_JBizzle

I love Smash and the way it is. That said, I wouldn't mind if they switched things up a bit. It's not like they even have to jump in both feet first. There could be the revamped system and a "Classic" mode for players to choose from... Find out what mode players play the most while also figuring out what works and what doesn't in the new mode. Just my two cents.

Re: Video: Digital Foundry Tackles the Native Resolution and Framerate in The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess HD

Sir_JBizzle

The game doesn't look THAT bad. It actually looks quite good given the amount of time spent on it. Though I will say it's not quite the leap that the Remastered Wind Waker was... But I'm sure a lot of that has to do with TP not aging quite as well. Also it being 30fps I couldn't really care less about. Honestly I prefer it, being it was the original framerate anyways...

Re: Talking Point: Online Gaming Can't Recreate the Unique Fun of Local Multiplayer, Yet It's Dominant

Sir_JBizzle

I'm all for the option of having both. There's absolutely no reason for not having both though I'd imagine time resources and servers and whatnot come into play. That said, like someone said above I think Nintendo has done an admirable job of putting online and local where they feel it's needed. Could they do better with some of their online features like voice chat? Absolutely. (even if I don't care about voice chat, they can do better) but games like Splatoon? Not really suited for local. Much like SM3DW isn't really suited for online play and Mario Kart 8 is suited for both.

Re: Talking Point: Splatoon Began With an Early Access Approach, and Has Provided a Valuable Lesson

Sir_JBizzle

Maybe it's because I rarely have time as it is, but I actually applaud Nintendo for this rollout. It allowed me to play Splatoon almost at my own pace and not be too overwhelmed by people who play constantly. I haven't played in about a month and I feel like I could still jump in and be competitive. Though to people that have have more disposable time on their hands, I could see where the lack of content could be off-putting. I do agree with there should be a way to skip the squid girls in the beginning and also being able to select your map should be a no-brainer.

Re: Koei Tecmo's President Seems To Think NX Is A Home Console First And Foremost

Sir_JBizzle

@WebHead honestly I knew what you meant. I read comment as this coming year. People on the internet tend to be a little pedantic at times

Concerning the article, they did ask about home consoles and the guy mentioned NX in the same breath that of the PS4,so there's that. Also, I'd reckon Erikawa hands are tied in mentioning point blank in what kind of machine the NX is, hence his wording. But still nothing to see here, even if it's nice that we get to hear new bits of info.

Re: Minecraft Finally Digs Its Way Onto the Wii U eShop on 17th December

Sir_JBizzle

@rjejr Haha yeah, I'm not in the business of insulting anyone, so when I re-read that I was like, "Oh that sounds harsher than I intended"

I can understand why folks would be upset in relation to timing and pricing relative to the other platforms, but at the same time it's only $10 more and I'm just going to assume a richer feature set, with Gamepad support being the differentiator (but like @MoonKnight7 said, we don't know much about that portion). Though I pose the question to everyone who says it's way too late to the party: If Microsoft doesn't acquire Mojang late last year, does a Wii U Minecraft ever happen?

Re: Minecraft Finally Digs Its Way Onto the Wii U eShop on 17th December

Sir_JBizzle

Good news for a major 3rd party title to arrive on the Wii U. Though I saw $29.99 and I instantly knew folks were going to start whining about the price. It seems pretty fair to me given the install base of the Wii U and I'm sure there's some additional optimization that needs to go into the this version anyways.

Off tv play makes it an instabuy for me. Gamepad features are just the icing on the cake!

EDIT: "whining" may be too strong of a word, let's just say, "I saw $29.99 and I instantly knew folks were going to be concerned with the price"

Re: You Can't Alter The Chest Size Of Female Characters In The Western Version Of Xenoblade Chronicles X

Sir_JBizzle

@Ralizah it's not even Nintendo, more than NoA, otherwise the content wouldn't be in any version of the game in the first place. I'm assuming NoA were hedgeding their bets and rather have pissed off gamers, than pissed off parents or (and don't take this the wrong way folks) the over zealous feminists that would take a breast slider as being sexist and pandering to the male demographic. It's the wrong move, and personally if it's in the original game then leave it in there. However, given NoAs history, it's not being cowardice more than them being true to themselves (see: Mortal Kombat example).

Given the lopsided and contradictive nature of media and sex in America, I'm wagering NoA wanted to err on the side of caution. It does make you think, "Where will they stop?" like I said I couldn't care less, especially as it pertains to my potential personal enjoyment of the game, but I will stand arm in arm with my fellow gamers who believes content shouldn't be taken out of games.

Re: You Can't Alter The Chest Size Of Female Characters In The Western Version Of Xenoblade Chronicles X

Sir_JBizzle

Much like all the hoopla surrounding Fatal Frame, I couldn't care less, given that I'm just in it for the story and I'm positive it has no baring on it or the gameplay as it would in a game such as (correct me if I'm wrong) FE Fates. That said, I can understand why some would be upset. On the other hand, Nintendo was in a losing position. Leave the slider in, you have get bellyaching from one side. Take it out, you get bellyaching from the other. I mean you had folks complaining about a stupid meme in Triforce Heroes...

Doesn't make this any better, but this is Nintendo we're talking about. This practice isn't exactly new to them, being they made Midway edit the blood out of the original Mortal Kombat, for example. I'm in no way saying we should accept it, I'm just giving my two cents on the matter.

Re: Eiji Aonuma is Aiming For an Open World "Surprise, or Kind of a Twist" in The Legend of Zelda for Wii U

Sir_JBizzle

@rjejr you're so cute when you're cranky

I'm not giving Nintendo a pass. At all. I have just learned to temper my expectations for Nintendo over the years. When they give a vague date, don't expect it for another 6-32 months. Ha. Though I agree. This clearly doesn't sound like a game that would've been ready at the end of 2015. Hell, it doesn't sound like a game that will be ready by the end of next year. It sounds like maybe they scrapped a bunch of ideas. Makes you wonder if they are retooling the game for something else

Re: Talking Point: Sweeping Internal Changes Show That Nintendo Is Ready To Tackle New Challenges

Sir_JBizzle

Part of me wonders if all this streamlining was in the cards the whole time. If you think about it, all this merging and streamlining started when Nintendo combined it's handheld and console divisions, like what? Two years ago? Perhaps this restructuring is a natural evolution of that, especially in the lead up to the NX. These next few years should prove to be interesting and exciting times for Nintendo and all who keeps tabs on them.

Re: Super Mario Maker Tops The Charts In Japan, Causes Wii U Sales To Double

Sir_JBizzle

@Kirk

"So, without that, there was was basically not truly compelling reason to buy a Wii U, unless you really were a bit of a fanboy."

True, I love Nintendo, but at least as it pertains to myself, I bought a Wii U because I'm a gamer first and foremost and I like to have everything on offer from all platforms. Also I saw the potential in the Gamepad, (too bad the potential is being shown too late)... And obviously I can't play Nintendo games elsewhere so there's that.

I'm also hoping whatever the NX turns out to be, that it'll have it's version of Wii Sports. More importantly, follow through. The killer apps that further justify whatever hook the NX will have vs the other two platforms.

Re: Rumours and Speculation Stir Over Potential Involvement of Nintendo with Apple TV

Sir_JBizzle

Pikmin 4? No. I just can't see Nintendo doing that especially since it flies in the face of their core games not being on non-Nintendo hardware. However, I could see Nintendo revealing their first DeNA game at Apple's event. More than likely a timed exclusive to all iOS devices (you know, since they're revealing more than just the Apple TV today) the hook to sell the Apple TV is you get the game free if you buy an Apple TV unit. I'm not into Apple products, sans my Mac that I use for work, and I surely don't need another device taking up more HDMI space, but it would be a smart move, given the popularity of Apple and it's built-in, extremely loyal audience.

Re: Updated Mario Kart 8 Wii U Hardware Bundle in North America Includes Both DLC Packs

Sir_JBizzle

@mereel "Oof. Here's hoping you are forever wrong about Nintendo doing "complete" versions of games. How would you like to see "complete" version of Smash Bros on the eShop right next to the $40-$50 of DLC you bought over the previous year.
I would stop buying Nintendo games on release date if that ever happened. Anti-consumer practices at their worst."

The thing is, you're marketing to different consumers. I'm fine with all the money I've spent on Smash because it's an excellent game and I feel I got my money worth. That's the price you pay for being an early adopter. Getting a complete edition or GOTY is no different than waiting for the price to drop to buy a system. And it usually happens when games have already hit their sales peak. Besides it's not like complete editions are foreign to Nintendo. They have one with the NSMBU+Luigi and now MK8, albeit in a system bundle. How long will it be before they offer that one in a complete package?

Re: Updated Mario Kart 8 Wii U Hardware Bundle in North America Includes Both DLC Packs

Sir_JBizzle

I reckon since you're getting the DLC, they decided to forgo the wheel, which in my opinion is a better option. The wheel is redundant in that you can steer with the gyro controls of the Gamepad anyways. It also sends the wrong message. If Nintendo is trying to market the Wii U, I've longed believed if you're going to bundle it with a controller, the Pro Controller is the way to go.

@rjejr I see your point, however so as long as Nintendo is making profit on software sales, I don't see them dropping the price anytime soon, though I've been wrong before I hate to bring it up, but I personally don't see another price drop until close to NX launch or at the very least sometime in the time frame of the official unveiling.

@Ryu_Niiyama woah that's a stark contrast tone. Lol. Though I get what you mean, I'd imagine if they wanted to do a bundle like that, they could go with Smash/TW101

Re: Review: Super Mario Maker (Wii U)

Sir_JBizzle

@NintyMan

"I'm surprised this got a 10 as I feel the lack of boss battles besides dunking Bowser in lava might deduct a point."

...they gotta save something for the inevitable sequel... Or perhaps DLC?

Re: The Smaller New Nintendo 3DS Model is Coming to North America

Sir_JBizzle

So I wake up to check the comments and this is what I'm greeted to? Not surprising. A couple of thoughts:

Wow, it's almost as if @JaxonH listed all the reasons Nintendo did to own a new 3DS. I'm utterly shocked. Those are not compelling reasons. At all. That's certainly not why I bought one. I just liked that particular shade of red.

My eyes are being opened - who knew people bought games day one? Heck, every game I'm interested in I buy before day one. Crazy, right?

Some people collect Nintendo products, some special PS4 editions, some Skylanders, baseball cards, rare retro games and systems, bugs, glass statues... ect, ect... I know a lady who likes to collect stuffed animal pigs. My personal weakness is Ninja Turtles and Power Rangers and obviously amiibo now. Some people like to share pics of their collections with other enthusiasts on a related site. I wonder what kind of lemming that makes me?

Jaxon is a pretty rounded gamer, who truly loves something from every platform. (His pre-order list puts mine to shame, but that's a whole other issue ) So he likes to collect Nintendo things. As does I'm sure a few others on here, myself included. If Nintendo makes special edition of things, then why the heck not if you can afford or have saved up for it? Not sure how that makes him a fanboy, because he took task to someone calling everyone a lemming which honestly was uncalled for, particularly the attack that followed. He's about as passionate about defending certain aspects of gaming in general as people who have opposing viewpoints. Don't see anything wrong with that.

I'm not sure why we can't have civil conversations without resulting to bashing and name calling which 9 out of 10 times it's what starts wars on here. Though I guess it's to be expected in a day and age where you can hide behind an avatar. My shoulder is killing me. I'm going to take my painkillers and try and go back into hibernation...

Also: Don't dis the Lemmings. They're adorable.

Re: The Smaller New Nintendo 3DS Model is Coming to North America

Sir_JBizzle

I'm not shocked in the the slightest. Some of us called it earlier this year. Was just a matter if getting the higher selling XL in everyone's hands first, then appease the vocal minority. From a sales and production standpoint, it made sense. Nonetheless I'm glad the folks who were crying out for one finally gets the opportunity to buy one. Heck I'd probably get one myself.

Re: Splatoon Version 2.1.0 Update to Fix Some Bugs, and Cut Off Some Handy Shortcuts

Sir_JBizzle

@Samuel-Flutter I mean, you don't have to walk all the over to the lobby, you could just tap the "Lobby" shortcut on the Gamepad and it will take you right there.

@Sinalefa so much yes on having an app instead! I'll take that idea a step further and say I'd love the ability to customize my loadout through the app so it will be ready for me when I fire splatoon up. The core game also needs custom slots for your favorite configurations, as opposed to dressing them up piece by piece, but I suppose baby steps, Nintendo

@rjejr I'd honestly would just love the option to skip Callie and Marie altogether, with the exception of special announcements like new stages/weapons and Splatfests... The announcement of the stage rotation is fine with me as well.

Re: Gorgeous Xenoblade Chronicles X Special Edition Confirmed for North America

Sir_JBizzle

@rjejr I said that only as as joke, I never thought you'd take my suggestion seriously. Your reasons for choosing amazon are the exact same as mine. I always have credit to burn there, so I figured why not? You should keep it. So what are you going to do when you receive it? I imagine you wrapping it up, putting it under the tree and opening it with faux surprise on Christmas morning. Lol

Re: Talking Point: The Argument For And Against amiibo-Cloning Tool Amiiqo

Sir_JBizzle

I think it's an overblown issue, honestly. Of course I'm a consumer that buy amiibo to look at more than use, so I'd probably be the wrong person to ask.

It seems like quite the cumbersome device, being you don't know what data you're accessing at any given time without your phone. It also seems like a lot of work pirating/torrenting amiibo data for such a small benefit.

Like others said, Nintendo should really nip this in the bud by producing their own device. Or better yet as I've always had this idea in my head thought this should be a thing, (I'm surprised no one has mentioned this yet), write an amiibo bank Android app and sell it for a couple bucks. Or better yet, let the app be free and charge a couple bucks each for digital amiibo. They could include the characters gaming bio and games they are compatible with. Each digital amiibo also has it's own bank, per compatible game - that way you don't run into read/write problems for games that need data written. For the concern that it would cut into physical amiibo sales, make the digital amiibo avaliable after a particular amiibo is out of print. Though I would imagine that a digital amiibo wouldn't cut into physical amiibo anymore than cards would.

Re: Poll: Is Pokkén Tournament The Wii U Release You've Been Waiting For?

Sir_JBizzle

@ikki5 I don't do much 'moning, but it's something I've never understood as to why there hasn't been a proper Pokémon game on a console, I'd imagine fans would lap it up like barn full cats to cold milk on a hot day.

3D home adventure + cross play on a portable system for Pokémon on the go + Pokémon amiibo figure/card support = a cash cow to me. The money would practically print itself!

Maybe not on the Wii U, per se, but perhaps a NX launch window title. (assuming the NX is a hybrid console of sort)

Re: Wii U System Update Now Live, Finally Puts TVii Out Of Its Misery

Sir_JBizzle

@akaDv8R Ahhh gotcha. Thanks. I've always knew of the provider and licencing headaches you guys have out there, I just assumed MS had that all sorted out. Or at least mostly. the biggest problem with TVii in the US, while super slow, they never followed through with the complete remote functions. It never fully worked with my equipment and when I changed cable providers, they never updated it to work at all with my new cable box. So TVii was pretty half-baked here in the US.

Of course Wii U never gained traction in the first place, because of all it had going against it, some of it their fault, some of it third parties and some of it consumers. (we all know the never ending vicious circles between the three) So in some ways it's quite understandable that they never really poured resources into intitives that wasn't really going anywhere...

Re: Wii U System Update Now Live, Finally Puts TVii Out Of Its Misery

Sir_JBizzle

@akaDv8R honest question: where did Microsoft fail in regards to TV and OneGuide? Is it something specifically a UK/Europe thing? I don't use OneGuide much, but the TV, streaming and accompanying voice functions work extremely well and is periodically updated, based on if a provider does channel realignments. At least here in the US.
