Re: PSA: Dispatch's 'Visual Censorship' Settings Can't Be Removed On Switch

Sam_ATLUS

@ottoecamn I don't think this situation can just be blamed entirely on Nintendo of America considering I live in the UK, and both Switch 1 + 2 versions of the games have had their content "modified" here as the eShop states. It is an unfortunate step backwards though because Nintendo has been very good with not censoring content for the majority of the Switch lifespan, Neptunia and Hundred Line are some of the rare occasions I can think of third party wise

Re: Opinion: The Switch 2 Is A Powerhouse For The Price

Sam_ATLUS

The price of the console is fine, it's just the game prices and locking voice chat behind NSO that is an issue. For £395/$450 the console is within the range of what many expected and should be able to impress with what it can do. But £75/$80 games is a different story, especially when Nintendo isn't one to frequently discount their games and when do it never goes below 33%

Re: Hideki Kamiya Seemingly Confirms More Departures From PlatinumGames

Sam_ATLUS

@Bobb Yep SEGA is the IP owner for Bayonetta so as long as Nintendo provided funding for it they'd be alright with it. And Nintendo owns the Astral Chain IP as of 2021 so they have control over that series. So both are safe if anything happens to Platinum, tbh I think Wonderful 101 is the only IP they have ownership for

Re: Takaya Imamura On Nintendo's Future: Talented And Charismatic Devs Are "Crucial"

Sam_ATLUS

@LadyCharlie I don't know if I'd say Nintendo has been that safe this gen. It's easy to point at all these Wii U ports and other major releases to say that. But Nintendo has given us new IPs this gen like 1-2 Switch, Arms, Labo, Astral Chain, Ring Fit Adventure, Buddy Mission Bond. We even had that Jump Rope game that released during Covid. And on top of that Nintendo has brought back many lesser known IPs. Another Code, Famicom Detective Club and Endless Ocean are all incredibly niche IPs they chose to bring back which would have been unimaginable a few years ago

Re: UK Charts: Black Ops 6 Fends Off A Wave Of Nintendo Hits

Sam_ATLUS

@larryisaman Crazy to think Nintendo has such a strong standing in the UK these days when I was growing up barely anyone owned their systems and they were non existent in the charts. I felt like the only person who owned a Wii U and was lucky to find a few 3DS owners, nowadays it feels like a good portion of people own a Switch. The fact they have more of a presence here than Xbox which is suppose to be their second best market is crazy

Re: Where To Pre-Order Xenoblade Chronicles X: Definitive Edition On Switch

Sam_ATLUS

@UltimateOtaku91 If Nintendo publishes the game in Europe you will be in luck. I hear NOE is aiding with the localization of Fantasy Life but I feel like if NOE had publishing duties they'd have announced it by now, like when they did the same for the original release of SMT V in Europe. Is there definitely not anything else on the voucher list you're interested in, or haven't tried?

Re: 30 Upcoming Nintendo Switch Games To Look Forward To In 2024

Sam_ATLUS

Not really interested in much for Switch in 2024 outside TTDY and Decapolice. Could change as Nintendo can easily just drop a bunch of games in a Direct in February. I'm not too fussed if the Switch line up is smaller in 2024 cause I got a ton of PS5 games coming out in the first quarter and if we do get Switch 2 that should have some nice releases lined up. Plus I still got 2023 Switch titles to catch up on

Re: Japanese Charts: Super Mario Bros. Wonder Absolutely Smashes Its Debut

Sam_ATLUS

Mario Wonder selling well in Japan and Spider-Man 2 doing okay in Japan shouldn't really be shocking to anyone. Mario Wonder will be consistent in the charts over the next few months and Spider-Man 2 will fall down like most PS releases in Japan. Tbh I wasn't expecting Spider-Man 2 to even sell 77K so it did better than I expected but it was never going to be a big hit in Japan. Both games are wonderful though, I've been swapping between both and having a great time

Re: Talking Point: What Are You Playing This Weekend? (September 16th)

Sam_ATLUS

I was planning to play Baten Kaitos 1 + 2 Remaster this weekend on Switch but my copy has been delayed and unless it magically gets delivered in the post even though payment hasn't been taken from it along with a dispatched notification from base.com, won't be happening. So I guess I will spend more time playing the demo for Dragon Quest Monsters which I'm very mad about Square Enix quietly dropping without any fanfare, they really don't want the series to do well here. And I could probably finish Bayonetta Origins, which I started playing slowly in the week to keep me busy while waiting for Baten Kaitos. It's very different from the traditional Bayonetta experience, and won't appeal to everyone but it's still a lot of fun. As you can tell a lot of gaming on the Switch right now, PS5 is in waiting mode until Spider-Man 2, LAD Gaiden and P5 Tactica drop.

Re: Talking Point: What Are You Playing This Weekend? (September 2nd)

Sam_ATLUS

Going to be playing Sea of Stars this weekend on PS5, 6 hours in so far and what a charming game. You can tell this was a passion project for the developers with how good it looks, the music and the personality the characters have. Should be done before Eternights, Pokemon SV DLC and Baten Kaitos all drop in the next 10-13 days. Been hearing plenty of good things about Armored Core 6 too but not sure if it would fully be my thing, if only it had a demo

Re: Stunning RTS Adventure '13 Sentinels: Aegis Rim' Continues To Be A Sales Hit For Vanillaware

Sam_ATLUS

One of my favourite games ever, it has such an incredible, ambitious story that somehow balances 13 protagonists well and the way it all connects together is amazing. Not to mention the incredible soundtrack and characters. I'm so happy it has reached 1 million copies. I think the fans of this game really helped it by spreading word of mouth about it, that's how I heard about it and ended up buying it. After loving it on PS4 I convinced a few friends to buy it and double dipped for the Switch release. I cannot recommend this game enough, sometimes I wish I could erase it from my memory to experience it again

Re: Japanese Charts: Switch Games Dominate As Pikmin 4 Can't Be Plucked From Top

Sam_ATLUS

@BTB20 Yeah that's true. Live A Live doesn't really count, but I thought it was worth mentioning since it was published by them outside of Japan and they are kind of the reason it got a remake to begin with. 2022 is the only year I can think of with no remasters or remakes from Nintendo, every other year for the Switch has had quite a few remasters/remakes

Re: Japanese Charts: Switch Games Dominate As Pikmin 4 Can't Be Plucked From Top

Sam_ATLUS

@Serpenterror I agree with you. While 2023 has had a lot of great games a decent portion of Nintendo's line up has been older games. Good remasters though, and the original releases for this year so far like Fire Emblem Engage, Bayonetta Origins, Xenoblade 3 Future Redeemed, Tears of the Kingdom and Pikmin 4 have been great offerings. 2022 easily had a better variety of new games in comparison to remasters/remakes. Everything that comes to mind from Nintendo in 2022 was an original release and even something like Live A Live that was published by them outside Japan was a new experience for us. The Switch is great and I enjoy these older games but I wish we had more years where it was just focused on new experiences from Nintendo.

Re: Japanese Charts: Final Fantasy XVI Dethrones Zelda: TOTK After Six Weeks On Top

Sam_ATLUS

@progx Only way I can ever see Sony putting up a decent fight in Japan again is if they made a handheld which is very unlikely. Japan is all about mobile and handheld gaming, consoles have been declining since the PS3. They've basically accepted that and moved their HQ to America, with PS being the option for more demanding games like FromSoftware titles, Final Fantasy and Resident Evil that give it a small place in that market still. They will sell a few million systems there but their days of sales compared to PS1, PS2 and PSP are long gone

Re: Talking Point: What Are You Playing This Weekend? (April 29th)

Sam_ATLUS

Xenoblade Chronicles 3 Future Redeemed this weekend. Amazing DLC, Monolith Soft never misses
And when I finish I'll be sure to jump back into FE Engage which I started playing again before the DLC dropped as it got caught with many other releases from earlier in the year like Persona 4 Golden, Like A Dragon Ishin and Octopath Traveler II

Re: Japanese Charts: Fire Emblem Engage Knocks Pokémon Off The Top Spot

Sam_ATLUS

Oh huh, PS5 outsold Switch OLED this week. I'm sure things will be back to normal next week with it in the lead
PS5 console sales have improved since around November, Christmas had some very strong numbers and at the moment we seem to be seeing 40K per week vs what was usually 10K most weeks before. FFXVI is the only current moment I see PS5 console sales in Japan being really high and having a chance at outselling the whole Switch family, and even then I have doubts it will sell as well in Japan for multiple reasons. I really hope it does well there but I can't see it hitting around 1 million as most titles do in Japan, imagine SE will be relying on western sales

Re: Japanese Charts: Crisis Core - Final Fantasy VII - Reunion Makes A Strong First Impression

Sam_ATLUS

@fR0z3nS0u1 PS5 stock has been good in Europe recently, people are finally seeing them in stores and they are usually very easy to order online. Japan sales for PS5 have been going up so they clearly have enough to supply now. As for Xbox we all know that system doesn't sell amazing in Japan, but they must not be supplying much stock to them for the holidays because those are some of the lowest numbers I've seen in a while. 35 Xbox Series X is crazy, that's how much the Xbox One was selling almost weekly in Japan. And I remember when people thought Xbox was having some kind of breakthrough in Japan because they outsold PS5 one week
