@Mauzuri I complain about Pokemon because it's a series that I grew up loving that is close to my heart. I wouldn't be into games the way I am today without it. And it's been disappointing to see this series decline in quality since moving to 3D and watch it sell as much as it does. It just feels like another FIFA/COD that has to come out yearly to print money. We didn't need SV this year, we had BDSP in late 2021 and Arceus in early 2022. SV could have easily had a couple more months to launch in a better state. I want Game Freak to be given the proper time to make a great Pokemon game but the yearly releases does not help this series. I want to feel the same joy I did when a new game launches which I haven't felt since ORAS.
And this is why we will continue to get Pokemon games that don't feel complete, because no matter what TPC does they still sell millions. Sword and Shield was thd best selling gen since Gen 2, and BDSP sold 14 million in 2 months. TPC will keep rushing these out yearly while Pokemon fans refuse to acknowledge the performance issues which are as bright as day. The Switch hardware is getting old yes but when all these other open world games come out performing way better it's a Game Freak problem. They are not being given enough time to optimise the game properly. Pokemon deserves better as the highest grossing media franchise.
More God of War Ragnarok and when I need a break from that, Star Ocean The Divine Force. And while I play those I will be waiting for Amazon to deliver my 2TB SSD for the PS5 I got in the Black Friday sales for £169.99. It's going to be needed with all the games coming out in 2023.
@UltimateOtaku91 Xbox One/Series games are released together as one. You get an Xbox case that will list both consoles on it with Smart Delivery at the top. Compared to PS4 and PS5 which have separate versions of the game
I don't know why people thought last week was some kind of "this is the end for Nintendo in Japan!" situation. Nintendo was saving OLED stock for Pokemon and Sony just happened to actually send Japan enough PS5 stock for once. Every now and then you have a wacky week like this such as when the Series outsold PS5 and everyone went crazy, before things return to normal the following week. The Switch is going to dominate the rest of the year with titles like Pokemon Scarlet and Violet, Dragon Quest Treasures and Crisis Core FF7 (curious to see the sales between that and PS4 as FF is usually associated with PlayStation and FF7 has a lot of history with the system, but I wouldn't be surprised if it sells more on Switch there). PS5 performance will depend on what stock Sony sends but I'm not expecting anything crazy until next year and even with games like FF16, who knows how that will sell in Japan.
I got Bayonetta 3 yesterday and played up to the end of Chapter 1. It's excellent but I haven't been feeling too well the past few days so I might wait a few days on it yet and play Triangle Strategy in bed, a game I've been wanting to get to beating for a while now.
At this rate I never see Advance Wars coming out. And Metroid Prime 4 yeah I think that's going to be released on the next Nintendo console at this point with how long it's taking. Looking forward to Bayonetta 3, cautiously excited for Fire Emblem Engage and eager to see what Xenoblade Chronicles 3's expansion story will be like. But in terms of 2023 releases so far I'm more excited for third party games like Persona 4 Golden, Like A Dragon Ishin and FF16, and really want to see the Dragon Quest 3 2D-HD remake release this year.
Xenoblade Chronicles 3 Wave 2 DLC and either Atelier Ryza or The Legend of Heroes: Trails from Zero after I'm done with the Wave 2 DLC. Finished Astral Chain last week and really enjoyed that.
Somehow after several tries I was able to place my order for XB3 SE. Glad to have it. But something weird happened... Nintendo charged me £89.99 for SMT V Premium Edition... a game I paid for last November when it released. And the website is still malfunctioning so can't contact customer service right now. What an absolute mess this whole situation is
It's been 9 hours and still the same message from My Nintendo Store about them having too many customers. I've never been so frustrated with something as with XB3 SE pre-orders they've gotten nothing right with this
@Magician Atlus didn't publish Muramasa so that's out of their hands. Dragon's Crown and Odin Sphere though yeah they should get to that. I guess it's just down to Vanillaware being so small they don't want to invest loads of time into porting older games when they are working on a new project but surely they could get someone at SEGA to help out with that.
I didn't expect much from NOE and I'm still disappointed You delay it twice, put the store down a week for maintenance and still mess up Maybe stop making items exclusive to MNS which clearly can't handle this stuff
Hopefully finishing Astral Chain this weekend after going on and off for the past two months. And after that Trails from Zero which I played for 2 hours on Switch and love already.
This is ridiculous. Again? We already got told to wait 2 months for it. And Bayonetta got delayed too. What is actually going on at Nintendo of Europe? They are a nightmare at selling products on My Nintendo Store. I still remember the pain of trying to get SMT V Premium Edition from them and the moment they said XB3 SE would be a MNS exclusive I was dreading it for these exact reasons.
I got my PS5 start of the year and in the last few months it feels like the console has been easier to get here in the UK. I'm always getting emails from ShopTo saying it's in stock and I actually hear about people being able to buy it so stock is definitely improving, at least over here. Funny to see someone say no one cares about PS5 lol, that's like me saying no one cares about the Switch which is far from the truth. Both Switch and PS5, as well as the Series X and S are in high demand. But I wouldn't be surprised if Switch gets back up to selling more next month, all down to how much stock the PS5 can actually get.
With Bayonetta 3 not far from release I've decided to get Bayonetta 1 and 2 on Switch and replay them. I haven't really played them since I got the games in late 2014 on Wii U. Bayonetta 1 has been action packed fun so far but not a fan of the QTEs. While playing Bayonetta I'll be waiting for my copy of Splatoon 3 to be delivered by Currys. Another series I haven't played much of since the Wii U as well. Never felt compelled much to play Splatoon 2 but with 3 that urge is coming back. And if I can find some time a little more of Xenoblade Chronicles 3. 180 hours and it feels like this game never ends.
The only things I REALLY want from this Direct is to see a new mainline Fire Emblem game announced and to see more of Dragon Quest 2D-HD. I'm happy with just that. Switch has had so many good releases this year just knowing I got both of those going into 2023 with Persona 4 Golden coming is enough for me right now. But if I can be a little more greedy... bring over those FF Pixel Remasters to other consoles (why were these PC and Mobile only?).
All the people saying Jeff Grubb was right can we wait until they actually show the Direct and the Zelda blowout and Metroid Prime Remaster he's been insisting will be shown are actually announced to say he was right? Predicting a Nintendo Direct is going to air in September is an easy bet, it's been a consistent month for the last several years. Anyone can do it. I even bet back in June after the Partner Showcase people kept crying about that we would get a Direct in September. As always I go into a Direct with no expectations so when something great like the E3 2021 Direct or February 2022 Direct happen it feels great.
Monolith Soft has had to fight so hard to get to where they are but after years of hardship they're finally being recognised for their efforts. Not only are they responsible for developing Xenoblade which is in my opinion one of the best series Nintendo has, but offering support to their biggest series like Zelda, Splatoon and Animal Crossing. I'm glad after all these years with the Switch people are seeing just how much they do for Nintendo and I'll always look forward to whatever games they release next.
I'd rather see Nintendo announce brand new games. A massive problem I've had for most of my time as a Switch owner is constantly getting ports of older games that cost more. I've been incredibly happy with Switch this year and that's because almost every game has been a brand new release. I feel like a lot of people on Switch just want old games released on it while I'm more interested in getting new unique experiences, that's why I buy a Nintendo console. Not that Zelda is bad but it's not like these games haven't been re-released before. At least Skyward Sword got it off the Wii and allowed it playable without motion controls.
Just finishing up the Scarlet Blaze route on Fire Emblem Warriors Three Hopes which will be my first route done. After that I'll probably have a break from it for some time before starting the Azure Gleam route. As to what I'll play after it, so many options... Astral Chain, Kirby and The Forgotten Land, Live A Live, Metroid Dread, The Great Ace Attorney Chronicles, Triangle Strategy... so many games I bought that I still need to actually get round to finishing.
@FleaBag_11 It's such a lovely style. Very excited for the Dragon Quest 3 2D-HD remake, if we do get a Nintendo Direct this month I really hope we see more gameplay of it there along with a release date. One can only hope. It'd be nice to see Square Enix make 2D-HD games from more of their classic games like Chrono Trigger or Xenogears.
@BenAV I'm in the same position. With it so close to Xenoblade 3 I didn't play it fearing I would get a few hours in and abandon it when Xenoblade came out. Now I'm finishing that and FE Warriors Three Hopes up I should be able to get to it soon.
@GVIL Indeed. I'm curious to see if that will have a proper impact on sales going forward. A couple Japanese Twitter users wanted FF16 to release on PC after the price increase got announced so going into next year I'm curious how much that will stop Japanese people buying a PS5 and FF16 as that's one of the big titles for PlayStation in Japan. Time will tell but I have some fears it won't help what has already not been a great performance for the PS brand in Japan over the last few years.
@GVIL Unlike the other regions where that price increase was effective immediately the price doesn't go up in Japan until middle of September so I think we won't see whether that has a massive effect on sales until a few weeks from now
Weird seeing this many PlayStation games in the charts, this looks like something you'd see in 2015 when Sony had the PS3, Vita and PS4 out at once and there was no Switch. Should be back to normal next week when most of these games drop from the top ten and the regular Switch titles jump back up. Splatoon 3 comes out next Friday as well so the week after that we will see that consistently pop up.
@Silly_G I've not seen an Xbox game in the charts for a long time so I'm going to assume Game Pass is the driving factor, especially with the Series S and the fact Xbox's physical presence is non existent in Japan. The Series S is a small device that is suited for the limited space of Japanese houses and is at a cheaper price point. I do find it interesting while Series S is selling more than the X both seem to be closer to each other while there's a big difference in PS5 consoles physical vs digital.
@Silly_G The Series consoles have been selling much better than the Xbox One which sold very poorly in Japan. Sales are nowhere near the PS5 or Switch of course but it's an improvement compared to a couple years ago.
Beat the main story for Xenoblade 3 last night after 130 hours. Fantastic game. Now I just have to go back and complete a ton of side quests which feel never ending in this game. And between that I plan to start playing Astral Chain.
@DTfeartheBEARD Mostly docked. I use to be very active with handheld especially as I own an OLED but when it comes to Xenoblade which is the main series I've been playing on Switch this year I go for docked. Ever since starting Xenoblade 2 and being disappointed several minutes in at the quality of handheld mode I usually play it on the TV and it looks so nice, especially having just recently invested in a 4K OLED TV. Xenoblade 3 is definitely much better in handheld but the only time I tend to usually play it that mode is if I just want to chill away from the TV for a bit and I usually stick to the side quests or grinding if I'm playing handheld and save the story for the big screen. Being able to play it portable is neat but I always feel that the game feels much more suited for the big screen.
More Xenoblade Chronicles 3 this weekend before going back to work. Got a week off when it came out and 83 hours in already on Chapter 5, what an excellent game with so much good side content, character development and story. One of the most ambitious games I've played on Switch.
Like many others this weekend I will be playing Xenoblade Chronicles 3. It's crazy that in February I had played none of the games and struggled getting into them, and after 3's reveal I decided to try beat all the games before 3 came out and now it's one of my favourite series. Looking forward to get stuck in for hundreds of hours in this one.
The last month has made me get so tired of hearing Nintendo Direct. We got Xenoblade 3 Direct and Mini Partner Showcase with great games and people are still complaining we need a direct and don't have enough. There is a game just about every month on Switch for the remainder of 2022, whether it is a Nintendo published title or third party. We don't need a Direct at this moment and can go a few months without it. Not everything news related needs a Direct. Nintendo doesn't need a Direct just to show a new Kirby eshop game, Bayonetta 3 release date or MK8 DLC. They can simply just post this on social media to let their fans know and it does the job. But everyone has to act like Directs are dying or debate whether we need them. Nintendo Directs still have their place but sometimes social media is just more convenient to do announcements than putting stuff together for a Direct. We will get a Direct when the time is right for it.
@Yorumi Same happened with the Animal Crossing mobile game which got far more love than New Horizons a game which 30+ million people bought and convinced multiple people to get a Switch for. And Fire Emblem Heroes has made 1 billion in revenue and it feels like Intelligent Systems spends more money on making memes for that game around April Fools than actually using it on a FE game. I really hope that they're currently working on a new FE game that will look and run much better than Three Houses did.
Been stuck in doors isolating with Covid for the whole week so in that time I've just been playing Xenoblade 2 finishing all the side quest, affinity charts and extra bosses which I've made slow progress with and will carry on over the weekend working on. I've also been playing a bit of Xenogears on the side hoping to get that done before Xenoblade 3 releases. That being said I hope I get some time to fit Wild Arms in. I tried it out after the new Plus subscription launched and enjoyed what I played of it. There's a lot I want to get done before Xenoblade 3 releases which probably won't all be done.
For me Gen 8 has to be the most underwhelming gen so far and has made me lack confidence in the brand. This was a problem that began in the middle of the 3DS life cycle with Gen 7 that came full circle in Gen 8. Aside from Arceus which I found a nice change the rest of the gen disappointed me. BDSP are poor remakes that shouldn't have released in the state they were and were so inconsistent trying to be faithful to an inferior version when Platinum existed. Sword and Shield felt barebones just like XY and yet XY still felt it had more and so far Gen 9 hasn't done anything to get me excited. I use to be so excited by Pokemon games and since 2014 that has just been doing downhill for me. It's sad to see a series that I once loved so much as a child that ignited my love for games go down the path it has. I would love for Gen 9 to prove me wrong and give me that same passion I had before but it's feeling unlikely. I think I'm best sticking to series like Persona, Shin Megami Tensei, Digimon and other RPGs that provide me with what I've hoped for Pokemon to do.
I knew he was fighting cancer but damn I wasn't expecting any news like this so soon. Billy sounded like such a chill dude that bought laughter to everyone and he voiced some great characters, everyone mentioned Ferdinand von Aegir of course which he nailed but there's also Maruki from Persona 5 Royal he did which is my favorite role he did such a good job with that character. Rest in peace Billy, you were taken too soon.

Re: Talking Point: What Are You Playing This Weekend? (August 6th)
More Xenoblade Chronicles 3 this weekend before going back to work. Got a week off when it came out and 83 hours in already on Chapter 5, what an excellent game with so much good side content, character development and story. One of the most ambitious games I've played on Switch.
Re: UK Charts: Xenoblade Chronicles 3 Soars To Number One
Happy to see Xenoblade 3 at number one there.
Re: Talking Point: What Are You Playing This Weekend? (July 30th)
Re: Talking Point: Would You Mind If Nintendo Retired The 'Big' Nintendo Direct Format?
Re: Rumour: Potential Mario Kart Tour PC References Found In Datamined Details
@Yorumi Same happened with the Animal Crossing mobile game which got far more love than New Horizons a game which 30+ million people bought and convinced multiple people to get a Switch for. And Fire Emblem Heroes has made 1 billion in revenue and it feels like Intelligent Systems spends more money on making memes for that game around April Fools than actually using it on a FE game. I really hope that they're currently working on a new FE game that will look and run much better than Three Houses did.
Re: Talking Point: What Are You Playing This Weekend? (June 25th)
Re: Xenoblade Chronicles 3 To Get An Expansion Pass Including New Story Content
Hopefully the new story expansion in 3 is like the Torna expansion that not only plays well but adds value to the plot
Re: A Xenoblade Chronicles 3 Direct Will Be Airing This Wednesday
Nintendo fans asked for a Direct and they got one (can't wait to see all the people complaining no one cares about Xenoblade)
Re: Feature: A Pokémon Retrospective: Generation 8 – 2019 To 2022
For me Gen 8 has to be the most underwhelming gen so far and has made me lack confidence in the brand.
Re: Fire Emblem And Pokémon Voice Actor Billy Kametz Has Passed Away
I knew he was fighting cancer but damn I wasn't expecting any news like this so soon. Billy sounded like such a chill dude that bought laughter to everyone and he voiced some great characters, everyone mentioned Ferdinand von Aegir of course which he nailed but there's also Maruki from Persona 5 Royal he did which is my favorite role he did such a good job with that character. Rest in peace Billy, you were taken too soon.
