Re: Japanese Charts: Nintendo Switch Sports And Kirby Still Reign Supreme

Sam_ATLUS

@Serpenterror Twisted Metal is rumored to be getting a revival on PS5 and LittleBigPlanet got Sackboy on launch which is just focused on platforming now. None of those series you mentioned are terrible but I highly doubt most of them would get many people going "oh now I need a PS5" outside of Jak and Daxter. Legend of Dragoon though I don't know why that never got more than one entry.
When it comes to IPs if you're not God of War or Gran Turismo you usually get games for one-two consoles at most before the developers move onto new IPs. Sony seems to like making new IPs a lot of the time than making games from their older ones. It'd be nice to see them come back now and again, I'd love for a Sly Cooper game on PS5.

Re: Feature: What's Your Biggest Nintendo Launch Day Regret?

Sam_ATLUS

I've never bought a console at launch, unless it had something really amazing I couldn't play anywhere else which is usually very unlikely nowadays for a console launch. Normally I wait around a year to pick a console up and I find that's a good time. I bought my Switch and PS5 just after a year of release and both consoles had enough releases to satisfy me. Had I got them on day one I definitely would have had different opinions (outside of Astro's Playroom still being one of the biggest joys for me in gaming). I did get the Switch OLED day 1 but well that's a upgraded model of an existing console so that doesn't count.

Re: Shin Megami Tensei V Tops 1 Million Sales Worldwide

Sam_ATLUS

To the expert analysts in this comment section, 1 million might not seem like a lot but for a series like this which has been pretty niche for many years, this is good. This is the first Shin Megami Tensei game to break 1 million and usually these games sell a respectable amount. I doubt Atlus is disappointed with these sales, if anything they are surprised and impressed on how well this has performed in this time period. Compare it to SMT IV which sold 600K in 2 years. From what this series is and the expectations the developers have, it's exceeding those and doing just fine.

Re: Talking Point: What Are You Playing This Weekend? (April 9th)

Sam_ATLUS

@Rpg-lover I got Kirby from Currys for £34.99 and it was suppose to be my game until Xenoblade took over, I'll most likely play it after I'm finished with that as a shorter experience. How is Triangle Strategy? Been debating on picking that up around my birthday next month and this is from someone who is a FE fan (as you can tell with me having a FE pfp).

Re: Talking Point: What Are You Playing This Weekend? (April 9th)

Sam_ATLUS

@Rpg-lover 11 hours in having just finished Chapter 2 and it is a joy to play. The game looks wonderful, music is incredible and the dialogue is entertaining. Think I'm gonna be invested in this for the long run trying to see everything. I feel like that with games like 13 Sentinels where I could play through it again for the first time again. September can't come fast enough for Xenoblade 3.

Re: New Screenshots Of Fire Emblem: Three Hopes Surface Online

Sam_ATLUS

Still unsure about Three Hopes overall. I wasn't the biggest fan of FE Warriors and I worry about the game running smoothly if Age of Calamity is anything to take note of, and the fact this is pretty much a golden route of Three Houses so the story could be a mess. I'm hoping on the gameplay proving me wrong, having excellent remixes of Three Houses tracks and good character interactions (especially ones we've not seen before) will sell the game for me.

Re: Review: 13 Sentinels: Aegis Rim - A Rich Narrative Adventure/RTS Hybrid With Outstanding Art

Sam_ATLUS

I bought and played this game at the start of 2021 on PS4, I absolutely recommend this game to everyone. It handles managing 13 protagonists so well and has one of the best stories I've seen in a video game. 13 Sentinels is one of a kind that should be played by as many people as possible, whether on PS4 and Switch and I'm glad to see more people get the chance to play it. I'll be double dipping on the Switch version. The game was originally meant to release on Vita before being cancelled so this will be the chance to experience the game in handheld with an OLED screen.

Re: Talking Point: How's Your Switch Holding Up After 5 Years?

Sam_ATLUS

I got my first Switch model back in November 2018 and upgraded to the Switch OLED in October 2021. My original Switch held out quite well aside from a few issues with the joycons where they drifted for a day and then acted like nothing happened. After upgrading to the OLED I can't go back. The longer battery life, kickstand and the much better looking screen enhance the experience for me so much I can't imagine playing any other way.

Re: A Kirby And The Forgotten Land Demo Is Out Now

Sam_ATLUS

Was planning to pick this game up later in the year but after playing the demo, enjoying playing the levels and being left with the desire for more after Nintendo teased me with various Mouthful Mode options I rushed to base.com to pre-order this.

Re: Pokémon Scarlet & Pokémon Violet Announced, Releasing Worldwide On Switch In "Late 2022"

Sam_ATLUS

I was honestly fine with no Pokemon game until next year, we just got BDSP which were rather average remakes and Legends Arceus which was a brilliant new take. I thought we'd have a gap between them but no sooner are we getting Gen 9 thrown at us. I'm kind of worried about the quality of this one with how soon it is releasing after Arceus. I'd like to be proven wrong but you just don't know with Game Freak.

Re: Square Enix Admits Marvel's Guardians Of The Galaxy "Undershot" Initial Sales Expectations

Sam_ATLUS

This game did not benefit from Square Enix releasing Marvel's Avengers the year before, that really hurt this game from the go as getting another one so soon after a bad one put people off. But even then I don't know if SE is reliable when they say a game underperformed, they say it about every game. I remember when the first Tomb Raider reboot came out, they sold 3.4 million copies in a month and said the sales were below expectations.

Re: Japanese Charts: Pokémon Legends: Arceus And Switch Remain Dominant

Sam_ATLUS

With how dominant the Switch is in Japan you just know it is always going to outsell everything every week and maybe the PS4 will have the odd title in the charts. The PS4 selling 4 consoles... wow. And the PS5 just selling over 300 more than the Xbox Series, that's crazy. For a console that's sold over 1 million in Japan the PS5 feels non existent in Japan, I haven't even seen any games for it in the charts in months, RE Village is the only to come to mind. Sony must be focusing on getting as many of their PS5 consoles to America and Europe than Japan, which tbf is probably better for them because we know Japan prefers their handhelds and mobile games over console at this point,

Re: Fire Emblem Warriors: Three Hopes Hits Switch This June

Sam_ATLUS

I don't know what to make of this. I wanted a new FE but not a Warriors game. I've seen more than enough of them lately and as someone who played FE Warriors and didn't like it, I'm not feeling too confident about it. But at the same time it looks like an AU or Golden Route or something for 3H which is interesting. One I'm going to have to watch for.

Re: Talking Point: What Are You Playing This Weekend? (February 5th)

Sam_ATLUS

Got my PS5 last month and have spent about the last month playing on that but I'm waiting on some big PS5 releases in late February and the middle of March so I've decided to jump back to the Switch and finally give Legends Arceus a go and two hours in I'm really impressed so far. This has to be the most I've enjoyed a Pokemon game since B2W2. And alongside it I think I'll playing a small portion of The Great Ace Attorney Chronicles when I need a break. I was intending to play Arceus eventually but Kate's article on both of these really helped me make that decision now rather than later.

Re: Metroid Dread Crowned #1 In TIME's 'Best Games Of 2021'

Sam_ATLUS

@Not_Soos I believe R&C got a lot of hype around release as it was one of the few full next gen PS5 games coming out and the graphics were stunning. However I think after a few months the hype died down because while it looked impressive visually it was just another Ratchet and Clank game, it didn't do anything too crazy. It's probably not a bad game but hardly GOTY material.

Re: Poll: So, How Would You Rate Nintendo's 2021?

Sam_ATLUS

Cool to see them revive WarioWare, Pokemon Snap and Metroid this year and 3D World is a good game but it's a port. I wouldn't say Nintendo's line up was bad, just not a lot there that wows me. Metroid Dread is the only first party game I bought this year. I felt like third parties provided more exciting games this year, Monster Hunter Rise, The Great Ace Attorney Chronicles and Shin Megami Tensei V being examples.

Re: You Can Get Your Official 'Year In Review' Switch Stats Now

Sam_ATLUS

My top three games were Fire Emblem Three Houses (432 hours and the most active player apparently), Dragon Quest XI Echoes of an Elusive Age (94 hours) and Hades (92 hours), however I feel that's somewhat inaccurate. My Switch says 3H is only 385, Hades is 80 and DQ is 75. I also played SMT V for 105 hours before this so I feel that should be ahead of Dragon Quest and Hades. Still scares me how much I've played my Switch this year compared to 2018, 2019 and 2020, my interest just suddenly revived on the system this year and the OLED coming out has only caused that to grow further.

Re: Atlus Brings 13 Sentinels: Aegis Rim To Nintendo Switch On 12th April 2022

Sam_ATLUS

I beat this on PS4 and got the Platinum, absolutely amazing game I highly recommend it to everyone. Such an incredible story and characters, it's truly an unique experience you can only go through once. I wish I could erase my memory of playing the game so I could relive it all again. Will gladly pick this up again on Switch to support it and see how great the game looks on the OLED.

Re: Poll: What's The Best Pokémon Game Ever?

Sam_ATLUS

Platinum, HGSS and B2W2 were the peak of Pokemon in my opinion. I still loved BW1 but the other three had so much going for them with plenty of content and improving on their previous versions and after B2W2 we've never gotten anything similar to those days.
