I wonder if there are any game developers out there who just say, "... MAN, I hope Nintendo never approaches us about being in Smash. That just would not work at all."
And before you mention Square Enix, Nomura himself was elated to give permission for Cloud; the music rights are another issue, and who knows what went on with the (lack of) Spirits.
@XiaoShao The Game Gear one alternated between "run to the right" and Prince of Persia-esque levels with some carpet segments; it was pretty different from the Genesis and SNES ones.
That was one rough demo; Konami is certainly brave to release the game in the state it's in, but that won't do them any favors with the gaming public. It really should have been scrapped and reworked early in development. We'd like a new Contra, certainly, but one that doesn't feel like a parody version of the 3D PlayStation entries.
@FullMetalWesker Nintendo owns it completely; SK made it for them, and they've been habitually renewing the trademark for years. Alex is a Spirit in Smash Ultimate for a reason.
@BanjoPickles I just want to say that you're pretty amazing for even contemplating, let alone bringing up Willy Beamish among broadly-recognized classic games.
@Euler They made Xenoblade 2's Rex a Mii costume because he "missed the boat" of having design documents drawn up and approved. They can't just start drawing up new ones later after the game goes gold.
@8bitSquid Too new. The roster, DLC included, was decided back in 2015, which means Incineroar will be the newest character we see due to Pokemon Company giving advanced info to Sora Ltd. If they actually do a second Fighter's Pass, then you might see Astral Chain content.
@Tulio517 The file size on its own isn't proof of anything; it's just a tiny unlock key, since the character would be included in a game patch to allow you to face them online, but you'd have to pay to use them yourself. But yeah, the potential for an error exists overall.
Man, such a travesty that the GameCube only received one installment in the Legacy of Kain franchise, and it had to be Blood Omen 2. >.< Like... man, not even Defiance.
@duffmmann Nick still has the rights to Doug's pre-Disney episodes; they even have them up for sale on YouTube in season sets, and clips of it on the NickRewind account.
The symphonic soundtrack for the game is so good, it's a wonder that they even have the option to use synthesized music in the game (thankfully not available in the demo).
They really should have been consistent with the choice of sprites. Either all 8-bit (NES and Master System) or all 16-bit (SNES and Genesis). I'd say I guess they didn't want to have to create new sprites, but they have to regardless unless the characters shown are the ONLY ones playable in this mode.
Squenix published ActRaiser on the Wii Virtual Console. Let them put up the other Quintet-made games — SoulBlazer, Illusion of Gaia and ESPECIALLY Terranigma.
Honestly, the only franchise of theirs that I would be even remotely interested in is Vigilante 8, and Twisted Metal PS3's failure probably scared them away from that franchise.
Wonder which version of The Immortal it is... NES? Genesis?
And if Nightshade is the NES game with the snarky private eye wannabe... Man, what a bizarre choice. XD And totally the wrong platform for that kind of game. Konami (I'm assuming they're the copyright holders, since it was published by Ultra) should really think of finding someone to remake it. Telltale Games would've been a great choice for a new Nightshade, but, well... Real life happened to them.
You know what was a fairly unique sixth-gen platformer? Kya: Dark Lineage on PS2. The devs, Eden Games, still make games, doing the Gears.Club series now; maybe they could think of revisiting it, assuming it's not tangled up in the kerfuffle that is publisher Atari's odd history of name changes and buyouts.
Looking forward to Columns II and hopefully some kind of announcement regarding Saturn games joining the AGES line. Hope beyond hope that Panzer Dragoon Saga or Burning Rangers make the leap.

I hope this includes shared games in RPG Maker MV, whenever Nippon Ichi finally gives us a release date on that.

Re: Random: Nintendo's Latest Firmware Update For Switch Removed A Neat Effect
The truly important thing is when they add themes and/or folders.

Re: Random: SpongeBob Artist Mashes Smash Bros. And Nickelodeon Characters
For all of you people who said Doug characters couldn't be used, the pic has since been expanded. And look at that, there's Roger Klotz. https://twitter.com/NickAnimation/status/1177598886275375105?s=20
Re: Feature: 10 Of The Worst Nintendo Game Covers Ever
As bad as these are, they're light years ahead of the Master System's streak of "random doodle on junior high graph paper" motif Sega had going.
Re: Help Will Come Tomorrow Brings Story-Driven Survival To Switch Next Year
Looks like 90 Seconds but with greater control of how you explore the area around you. Nifty!
Re: Five-Day Smash Bros. Ultimate Event Adds Four New Daemon X Machina Spirits
Surprised they didn't do the same for Astral Chain.
Re: Manage Your Own Aquarium In Megaquarium, Coming To Switch Next Month
Oh, Nintendo, hook up with Arika to make a new Endless Ocean already...

Re: Review: Deadly Premonition Origins - The Marvellously Bizarre Cult Classic Comes To Switch
Oh, it's not the Director's Cut? Well that's a pity.
Re: Trademark Discovery Suggests Klonoa, Mr Driller And Splatterhouse Might Be Making A Comeback
@Sakura7 Bless you for mentioning the Otogi duo. It kills me that Sega and FromSoftware are just abandoning those on the Xbox.
Re: New Trademark Discovery Suggests Klonoa Might Be Making A Comeback
Looooved the Klonoa games; he would be my ideal next Namco rep in Smash.
Re: Ubisoft Won't Be Moving Away From Open-World Game Design Anytime Soon
Since there's no chance of Beyond Good & Evil 2 coming to Switch, they should do us a solid and port the HD first one to it.

Ahhhh, yes, In the Hunt~

Devil May Cry 2 down there like a dirty little secret.
Re: Tokyo Mirage Sessions #FE Encore Dances Onto Switch Early Next Year
@Hinaru77 TMS's sales numbers are about even with Wonderful 101's globally, so that's not a good comparison to make.
Re: Tokyo Mirage Sessions #FE Encore Dances Onto Switch Early Next Year
They're rereleasing one of the biggest financial bombs in video game history. They have literally no excuse not to rerelease Eternal Darkness now.

Re: Konami Plans To Work With More "Globally Known IPs" In The Future
A new Lost in Blue would be nice. Or, heaven forbid, Rocket Knight Adventures.

Re: Pinball Joins Hamster's Arcade Archives Series This Week
This really should have just been an NES Switch Online offering with how basic it is.
Re: Video: See The Sinking City's Open World Horror Running On Switch
Good on them for taking the time to optimize the game for the platform. Supporting multiple languages is also very nice.

Re: Random: SpongeBob Artist Mashes Smash Bros. And Nickolodeon Characters
Nice use of Norbert as Sonic, though Daggett might have been more fitting. And Doug might've been a better fit for Ness.

Wow... They're involving Cooking Mama... with cryptocurrency? O_o I... can't say I ever would have seen that coming.

Re: Samurai Shodown Director Says A Perfectly Balanced Fighting Game Would Be Boring
Typically if fighting game enthusiasts want a near-perfectly-balanced experience, they play Virtua Fighter, anyway.
Man, having VF5: Final Showdown on the Switch would be kinda sick.
