Famicom Detective Club and Legend of Mana were nice surprises, and Ninja Gaiden would have been if its existence hadn't been leaked weeks ago. That DC Heroines game is just weird, Mario Golf wasn't asked for but isn't bad either, and I can't really hate Pyra/Mythra in Smash because people kept demanding her or Rex when the game launched, so there's obviously a rabid fanbase out for them.
But here's hoping that pesky Eternal Darkness trademark gets used this year...
@NintendoByNature In the opening cutscene, the world LOM takes place in, Fa'Diel, is destroyed. It's up to the protagonist to collect items known as "Artifacts" which have the "memories" of the land stored in them, placing them on a map in order to bring the area back into existence. It's a pretty deep system that factors into the game's crafting as well as what sorts of enemy encounters you find in a given location. Think of it like The NeverEnding Story, when Bastian is wishing Fantasia/Fantastica back into existence using AURYN.
On topic, this is easily my favorite of the Mana series, and hopefully they relocalized it so that the dialogue is less stiff. Wonder if they'll include the various save bonuses from the original too — you could get a pet Chocobo by having an FF8 save, and a couple weapons/accessories by having a SaGa Frontier 2 and Chocobo Racing save, IIRC.
Such a fantastic game, and it's only getting better! Anyone who hasn't tried it out or has been on the fence should really take the leap. It's a rare person that the story and visuals can't speak to.
EDIT: Also Jake Hunter Detective Story: Ghost of the Dusk, but then, that franchise has always been pretty under-the-radar in America. The DS game getting two separate publications , Detective Chronicles (the bad one) and Detective Story: Memories of the Past (the one you actually want), probably didn't help matters.
Still not as messy as what Nightdive Studios went through in trying to secure the license to No One Lives Forever in 2015 — one tangled mess of copyright between Fox/now Disney, the original publishers; Activision, who acquired some assets after a merger; and WB Games, Monolith's current owners. Nobody knows who owns what part(s) of NOLF, but they're all chomping at the bit to sue anyone who tries to use it in any way.
It would take FromSoftware's collaboration, but I'd love to see HD ports of the Lost Kingdoms duo on GameCube. Such an underrated little pair of games.
The demo's gameplay was okay, but Zeus and Prometheus' banter got kinda grating after a while (though I'll admit that I smiled when they had their "what monsters did Fenyx fight?" argument; it was very Rocky & Bullwinkle). Definitely a discount title.
When grinding actually rewards the player with additional skills or spells, I enjoy it. Like back in ye olden dayes of Phantasy Star where you would get new techniques when you reached certain levels. If the game is instead structured to make you visit a guild or otherwise train your abilities in another fashion, then grinding just feels like a waste of time.
I hope the pandemic isn't what slowed down the introduction of new Spirits; I enjoy collecting them. I can't imagine uploading batches of image files and text to be a super stressful endeavor, but I don't know how it works.
Even if getting resources from a third party is a limiting factor, some StarTropics, Geist, Cruis'n or Endless Ocean spirits would be appreciated. They also have plenty of ROB spirits, too, but none of the characters from the actual games Gyromite and Stack-Up.
I hope they eventually republish the Advance trilogy; THQ said that the publishing rights have reverted to Sega by now, and they're very solid 2D Sonics. (Even if Cream breaks the sequels wide open.)
The lack of an HD Heroes is kinda odd, considering it's the debut of the modern Chaotix, so having it around would help contextualize them for new players. Then again, Colors is still trapped on the Wii and that's one of the best 3D Sonics, period. Very odd decisions.
Also, call me crazy, but they should do a third Sonic Storybook game (Secret Rings and Black Knight were the first two). I have ideas about one based on the Labours of Hercules which would be hilarious with Sonic characters filling the roles.
I know Xenoblade X is the main Wii U port remaining that people really want, with fewer votes for Fatal Frame V (and I guess people would want Star Fox Zero if it had normal controls), but Tekken Tag 2 would be really great too. Definitive version of the game with the extra costumes and Tekken Ball mode, plus just having it on the go would be amazing.
Wish they would revisit RE Outbreak. Yes, I know Resistance exists, but its gameplay is fundamentally different from what Outbreak did, and Outbreak didn't get much of a chance to shine since it was locked to the PS2.
With how fast the original ones vanished, I'm not even going to try with these.
EDIT: After looking at the available challenges, I couldn't if I wanted to. I missed too many little "sign up for X challenge and participate!" deadlines and I have no desire to buy Mario Kart: Home Circuit. Ah well.
It'd be hilarious if they ever revisited Nicotine Caffeine, but I imagine his name (and being the chief priest of Koka-in) are considered in poor taste now.
I've turned from a player to a collector over the years. I often just buy a game just to support devs I like anymore, though I'm more likely to play a game if it's advertised as short. I just don't have the patience for things longer than 20 hours anymore unless they REALLY speak to me.
@JedRock Your optimism is commendable, at least. But again, we're talking about the mobile market — people who will uninstall a game as soon as it inconveniences them.
@JedRock My POINT is that you're expecting common mobile game players to print out at least 16 QR-sensitive pages just to play one game. A tall order from a marketability standpoint. The game isn't even available digitally on 3DS, only physical copies.

Ohhhh, Zelda fans. Never change.
Re: Feature: 8 NES Games That Were Better On Famicom Disk System
Sorry, but no, Simon's Quest is better on NES. Those FDS load times KILL the experience.

I was glad to see Fighting EX Layer is getting a Switch port. Gotta support my boys at Arika! They might reward me with a new Endless Ocean.

Re: Rare's Cancelled N64 Project Dinosaur Planet Has Been Leaked Online
I'm impressed that Fox was in N64 builds of the game at all. I'd assumed that he only came in once development properly started on the GameCube.
Re: Preview: Ghosts 'n Goblins: Resurrection Is Going To Hurt You, A Lot
Gimme some Arthur, Prin-Prin and Firebrand spirits in Smash to mark the day, Capcom.
Re: Blizzard Arcade Collection Announced For Nintendo Switch, Out Today On The eShop
Not including Lost Vikings 2 is a shame, but still a very solid set.

Use that Eternal Darkness trademark first, Ninty. Your patent on the sanity effects expires in November.

Beyond Good & Evil HD would be nice, since the Switch sure isn't getting the sequel... assuming it comes out at all at this point.

@DoubleDate I believe she's a character from Tokimeki Memorial. It's definitely not Charlotte Aulin, though.

@EmmatheBest The only noteworthy things were their Power Pro, Pro Evolution Soccer, and BEMANI arcade offerings.

Considering how little the remaster changed the game visually, the Switch might even be the best platform for this game.

Re: Random: Artist Draws Smash Bros. Characters In The Style Of Cuphead
@HotGoomba___Rebrand It looks like he's going in the games' release order, so Kirby should be coming up fairly soon, being an NES-era character.
Re: Feature: Ten Arcade Games We'd Love To See On Switch
We need Cadash, at least, and I don't think Capcom's Magic Sword if part of their coming arcade set, so that would be nice, too.
Re: Random: Artist Draws Smash Bros. Characters In The Style Of Cuphead
lol nice bedroom eyes, Duck Hunt. XD
Re: Hyrule Warriors: Age Of Calamity Spirits Are Being Added To Smash Ultimate
The sequel gets spirits before the original. Innnnteresting.
