SNK Collection

Update (1st Sep, 23:55 BST): The Challenger Pack 4 page appears to have been taken down from Nintendo's UK website.

Original story (1st Sep, 21:15 BST): If Nintendo's UK website is anything to go by, it looks like the next DLC fighter coming to Super Smash Bros. Ultimate after Banjo-Kazooie could be from SNK Corporation. Over on the Challenger Pack 4 webpage for Nintendo's all-star brawler, the Japanese company SNK is mentioned. Below is a direct screenshot:

SNK has a rich history in terms of fighting games and traditional arcade games, so it would make a lot of sense for one of its characters to be invited to participate in the latest Smash Bros. outing on Switch. As for its fighting offerings – it's best known for series like Fatal Fury, King of Fighters, Samurai Shodown and last year's release, SNK Heroines: Tag Team Frenzy. Not to forget the Samurai Shodown reboot, due out on Nintendo's hybrid system later this year in Japan.

There's also a theory that this could easily be one big mix-up on Nintendo's end. According to a post over on Reddit (thanks, Tulio517), the 4th DLC character in SNK Heroines has "the same trademark and file size" (4.19 MB) as the one listed for Smash Bros. Ultimate.

Comments in this same thread dug deeper and found the 5th Challenger Pack for Ultimate lists a whole range of companies, but if you view Banjo-Kazooie or the recently released Hero Challenger Pack only select companies are mentioned. For example, on the Hero page, there is Square Enix, Armor Project and Bird Studio, and the file size is also 4.19 MB.
