Best news of the Direct for me personally. And with the promise of Zwei to come, it gives me hope that Sega will give serious consideration to how well Panzer Dragoon Saga performed in their AGES poll — it placed third all by itself, under Jet Set Radio and Shenmue I/II, and separate from Panzer Dragoon as a whole.
I really wish they would rerelease more classic Enix games. The SoulBlazer trilogy, Robotrek, 7th Saga (PROPERLY PATCHED with the correct level growth)... So many choices without only going back to Square's half.
There's no way Konami will ever make a game based on Julius Belmont. Absolutely nothing they did would ever do justice to the fans' expectations regarding the story of how Dracula DIED FOR GOOD.
Sooo... it's a visual novel? Walking simulator? Weird how vague they're being about it, though maybe they're afraid it'll be stuck in Bloodlines 2's shadow.
@vio To be fair, Gradius and Salamander were in an ARCADE-centric collection in this instance...
And I would say NES Contra remixed the game enough to be considered a pretty different entity from the arcade version. Levels were lengthened with enemy placements changed, and the Famicom version is infamous for using an extra chip which enhanced the graphics, as well as including stage intermissions and an actual ENDING.
Also, two of the games are Super Contra and its NES port Super C, so...
Great! Still eager to learn what the remaining four Contra games in that collection are. I'm 99% sure Hard Corps and Operation C are two of them, but the other two are question marks after the revelation of the Castlevania set. They keep distancing themselves from NES Contra 1, and I would be VERY surprised (and frankly a little disgusted) if they actually bother with Contra Force, since that never got a Japanese release.
@BKPyrexx Wait for the actual Marvelous-produced entry, now known as Story of Seasons since Natsume owns the "Harvest Moon" trademark. Not necessarily the upcoming Doraemon-themed one, just the next SoS in general. Or there's Rune Factory 4 and 5 coming up, if you need some questing with your farming.
@King_Johobo Please do! Nintendo needs to hurry up and do something with the trademark it's so insistent on continually renewing; it's an IP worth using.
This is part of why I want Eternal Darkness representation in Smash so badly. Imagine all the crazy (no pun intended) fan-art that would result from the Smash cast suddenly having to deal with eldritch horror that isn't confined to its own game a`la Kirby.
Just to be "that guy", it bears mentioning, for those people who don't watch the video first, that Nick didn't actually pay the full amount for the games, even on a lark. He had to replace his 3DS after it had been lost to a disaster, and the minigames had already been haggled & paid for on his account before that struck; when he restarted his save file on his new console, he just picked the dialogue options to pay full price, which then redirected to the eShop page that just let him redownload the DLC at no cost, since they were still tied to him.
So if anyone else wants to replicate his experiment, just play the game as expected first, then delete/reinstall your game and start over.
It was a decent little movie, basically the 3DS game given Hollywood-level stakes, but it could have benefitted from being a bit longer. Maybe 2 hrs 15 minutes.
I REALLY hope this is true. Janemba was the character I hoped most to see, personally, but ANYone who isn't Goku/Vegeta version 500 is welcome! Master Roshi, Mr. Satan... hell, LAUNCH would be fantastic to play as.
Local game stores don't even stock amiibo anymore. Or if they do, it's ONLY in the metaphorical "back" that Karen demands they always check for more supplies.
First those realistic renders from the God of War artist, now these... I wonder if they're low-key cries for help from employees who would rather be working for Nintendo than for Sony Monica/Activision Blizzard.
I hope they release some kind of Parodius collection. Given the franchise has suffered the curse of never being localized over here, it'd be a nice gesture on their part, and thanks to region free online shops, it technically wouldn't have to leave Japan, anyway.
I would have had Ultima: Runes of Virtue in there somewhere, myself. The sequel got pretty silly, as shown in those Spoony Experiment videos (the GB version might play better, but it still has that insane plot with the Black Knight), but the original is still a nice little Zelda-esque quest through Richard Garriot's Brittania.
I remember being amazed when my dad came back from a trip to Japan with a copy of Quarth for the Game Boy, which was one of the few titles never localized over here. And it didn't need any sort of adaptor to play. Nintendo was so cool to keep their handhelds region-free for as long as they did, and now the Switch has gone back to that.
@Roam85 Maybe if they sell enough, they'll explore multiplayer options, but for the time being, it's just a solo experience which includes a few extra props a second person can use to influence your game, like a "snorkel" someone can wear while you use the Labo Camera.
@RupeeClock Yeah, that was the deal breaker, in my opinion, considering just HOW MANY languages Smash Ultimate supports. And there's already a few quirks regarding the spirits.
Looking at you, Komurasaki--err, I mean, "Girl from Hajimari no Mori".

I hope it's better than Appaloosa's 3D Contras on PlayStation...
Re: Limited Run Partners With Lucasfilm To Re-Release Classic Star Wars Games
Such an odd decision on their part to reproduce NES/Game Boy/N64 cartridges and no digital equivalents to go with them. Collectors, man.

Niiiiiiice. Always wanted to play this, but having it tethered to the PS360 was annoying.

I'm not still bitter that Phantasy Star never got representation in the Sega Superstars franchise or anything, honest.

@Ooyah You could call it a video game take on the infamous Dungeons & Dragons module "The Tomb of Horrors".

@Leuke You mean the third one; author neglected to mention "Beyond Shadowgate" on the TurboGrafx CD-ROM. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=n21rJ65EZb0
This remake also ends with a sequel hook which the developers have so far not followed up on.

Re: Random: Cool Virtual Boy Easter Egg Discovered In Nintendo Labo VR
Is it really an easter egg if it's just something you pick from the menu?
An easter egg would be, like, being able to play a little VB Mario Tennis yourself by entering a button combination during the video.
