Cheers, love!

With the Overwatch Legendary Edition making its way across to the Switch later this month, it's got many fans wondering if any of the heroes in this online team-based shooter could possibly make an appearance in Nintendo's all-star brawler, Super Smash Bros. Ultimate.

Jeff Kaplan – the lead director of Blizzard's insanely popular multiplayer game – was recently asked by IGN who he would like to see represent Overwatch in the Switch exclusive and gave Masahiro Sakurai and his staff permission to use "whatever character" they wanted:

To the Smash Brothers team, whatever character you want, we love them all. They’re all our babies, you can have any single one of them. We have 31 to choose from.

If he had to pick one, though, it would probably the game's mascot Tracer – despite how appropriate Doomfist might be with all of his close-combat attacks:

Tracer's our girl, Tracer's our mascot. She'd be my first choice. There's a lot of great runners up. I think a lot of people can immediately see Doomfist gameplay applying to Smash, but if it were up to me, I'd like to see Tracer.
