Re: Feature: 10 Games We’d Like To See Come To Labo VR

Sabrewing

Yeah, definitely trying to make Labo VR more than what it is. This won't be the kind of experience that affords the sort of motion control that Star Trek: Bridge Crew requires, unless it can be used with one of the preset cut-outs (the camera, the Blaster, the elephant and bird doo-hickeys, etc.), as I REALLY doubt Nintendo will release any sort of "booster packs" that only work on one game, nor do I see a strap of any kind being officially marketed.

As for future feasible projects, there's the ever-looming potential for Pokemon Snap 2, but beyond that, the games either have to be semi-comfortable to play using the Switch w/ Joy-Con attached in the VR headset, or they have to be made to suit the patterns that come with the Labo VR intrinsically.

Re: Super Rare Games Announces Joe Dever's Lone Wolf Physical Release For Switch

@invictus4000 Depends on how much gameplay you expect. It hews very closely to its source material, and I'd actually say it's comparable to the Hands of Fate games, with the game functioning as a dungeon master of sorts while you make choices at pre-ordained portions of the story.

The key differences between this and HOF are that combat isn't in real time in this one, and you have to have the minimum level in a given stat to be allowed to make certain choices, as in the original gamebooks.

Re: Nintendo's Mobile Games Raked In $85 Million During The First Quarter Of 2019

Sabrewing

I'd love to see Nintendo do something new with the mobile market, or at least something with an IP that isn't already overexposed like Mario or Fire Emblem. Dragalia Lost is a step in the right direction, being a new IP, but it's still just another gacha-based RPG at the end of the day.

Revisiting Spirit Camera: The Cursed Memoir from 3DS would be something. There was that cancelled DSiWare game GhostWire whose augmented reality gameplay would be a good fit for smartphones, after all. Just set that in the Fatal Frame 'verse.

And while I would prefer a proper Switch sequel, Endless Ocean would be a good fit for the free-to-play market, too. The original games always sold at budget cost, and there's tons of options for cosmetics that would become microtransactions, especially if they brought back EO2's island and reef decorating.

Re: Free-To-Play Puzzler Gems Of War Is Out Now On Switch

Sabrewing

After playing it for a bit, it's not AWFUL or anything, but it's inevitably stuck in the shadow of Puzzle Quest and its sequels. If the company just put out a collection of all the PQ games — PQ 1 & 2, Galactrix, Kingdoms, and Chronicles — on the Switch, I would call that an instant buy.

The core gameplay here is solid, it just suffers from the lack of features its predecessors had.

Re: Talking Point: Labo VR Is The Best Worst Idea Nintendo Has Had In Years

Sabrewing

Uhhhh... They wouldn't be releasing this product if they were implementing it in a way that overtaxed the Switch, its capabilities, and the user experience, right? They rushed the Virtual Boy out the door and paid for it. I would THINK that they wouldn't throw their hat into the arena again unless it was in a form they were confident in.

Re: Nindie Round Up: Inops, The Raven Remastered, Utopia 9, Heroes Trials and Debris Infinity

Sabrewing

I would have given The Raven a "Maybe", myself. Unless they did some work to optimize it for Switch, it ran horribly on PS4 despite being an upscaled Xbox 360 game, and some of the puzzle solutions were utter nonsense. Not quite "Gabriel Knight 3 cat/mustache" levels of bad, but the kind where they make you run around clicking on everything when you've otherwise solved it but the game won't progress until IT says so.

Re: Rumour: Nintendo Has Plans To Revive A "Dead And Buried" Game

Sabrewing

@Dpullam The company behind it, Nibris, fell into the trap of "taking on too many projects with too inexperienced staff" (they also wanted to remake the Atari classic River Raid, retitled "Raid on the River", IIRC). When their website was active, they literally just had a 3D render of a train car in terms of screens that weren't mock-ups of gameplay.

In 2014, there was some talk about the IP being for sale and some other companies were going to resume the project on Wii U, but obviously that never panned out either. https://www.nintendolife.com/news/2014/05/exclusive_lost_wii_game_sadness_to_be_revived_as_wii_u_exclusive
