@Bankaj - Clickbait titles are disrespectful to your readers. Do you appreciate being deceived by a website that you thought you could trust? I don't. It's like biting the hand that feeds you for the sake of a few drive-by clicks from non-regulars.
@dux - anything’s better than another mind-numbing Avengers movie 😝 I didn’t watch this latest trailer as I would like to see the movie with the least amount of spoilers.
ahaha reminds me of the old NSMB meme from Punchout 😂 The game had a couple great tunes: the training music and the main fighting theme. I remember playing Punchout at a friends house with an NES Advantage controller. At the time I thought that controller was a perfect match for the game.
Of course they're not going to have a trailer for Metroid Prime 4. Development only restarted a couple months ago. They'd be crazy to do a trailer this early.
@Cosats wrote "translator voicovers are only taking place in the United States version"
I didn't realize this. I checked out the last Direct on the Nintendo UK YouTube site and you are correct. Maybe I'll watch UK Directs from now on. There's still something sucking the energy out of these videos though. Maybe it's the unnecessary voiceover narration for almost every game, telling you what you can already see on screen.
It's not like Nintendo Directs are that great... the horrible translator voiceover and dead atmosphere make it almost cringeworthy.
And the fact that I always have to skip 20 minutes of over-emotional JRPGs with butchered english titles 😅
Reggie and Iwata were the only thing that made the Directs interesting, aside from the occasional gem of a trailer.
The art and animation in Cuphead was beautiful, but the repetitive TRY AGAIN nature of it just made me sick of it. It took the joy out of the game. Boss fights are great at the end of a level, but the stress of a game that is 95% bossfights is just not enjoyable.
@ik4sum1 @westman98 @mist - You guys are saying it's only 30fps because they didn't upload the trailer in 60fps? Even Nintendo has made this mistake and uploaded 30fps trailers for 60fps games. I wouldn't assume CTR is 30fps based on that alone.
Ah, this was back when 2D games almost always looked better than the 3D garbage released on Sony Potato.
I bought FF7 on PC and played it for a few hours but couldn't get into it. FF games have the most yawn-worthy storylines. The early Final Fantasy games had a few good tunes - that was the only reason I played them as long as I did.
I think Google Stadia is shaking these companies up. They knew Stadia was coming and they're all scrambling to try and find their place in the game streaming/game service world. I think that's why Microsoft is getting cozy with Nintendo.
Personally, I have no use for game streaming as long as our internet in Australia is garbage.
Games with stupid names like "Untitled ___ game" or "Yet another ____ game" never do well, for many reasons. One reason being that people just don't respect products with names like that.
If they're this far in development, I'd be concerned they're just going to stick with the current name.
@Fidget @mist - They uploaded that new trailer in 60fps. If you make sure to watch it in 60fps, it actually looks like genuine 60fps gameplay. But fingers crossed it remains that smooth on release.
EDIT: Oops I misunderstood and thought you meant 60fps in general, not just on Switch.
@Zequio - Yep, that sums it up! @UmbreonsPapa - My thoughts exactly. Thse sort of ‘discounts’ from Nintendo just put a cynical taste in my mouth. Better to not to have a discount at all and actually keep some respect from fans.
Reggie definitely gave Nintendo some much-needed personality. From what I can see, Bowser is making a genuine effort to connect with fans, so I hope he does well.
It's funny seeing the names of the developers. Anyone who played Cannon Fodder a few times would remember that your initial troops were all named after the developers (Jon, Jools, etc).
I really wasn't impressed with Universal Studios California. It all seemed really stale and past its prime. But next time we go to Japan, I'll definitely visit Nintendo World.
I certainly won't be going for the Olympics in 2020 though: 1. It's in summer in Tokyo (bad time to visit) 2. It's the Olympics 😴😴 snore 😆
What they should be doing is a bundle with an online game (Smash, MK8, etc), provide $15 credit instead of $35, and give 30 days free of Nintendo Online. That way the customer gets a bit of a discount for an eShop purchase, plus they also get hooked online and will likely renew the Online service. That will provide a continuous payment to Nintendo, rather than just a one-off purchase from the eShop.
@Seacor said "They jumped all the way from v6.2 to v7.0 for six new icons???"
Tell me about it, what a friggin' joke 😠😠
Actually the new language support is good for those in other regions, but really, after two years they can't update the damn GUI a little bit??
Wouldn't be surprised if NoJ was cramping his style.... just like they'd probably cramp Reggie's style big time. I've always had the impression that NoA are NoJ's puppets.
I wonder what the quality of the actual screensavers were like though. Given that it's a Windows program in 1997, chances are it was shovelware. Most screensavers back then were poorly-made shareware.
Switch is here for the long haul. I wouldn't expect an updated/slim version before 2021. Whatever iteration they come up with, it will still be backwards compatible.
Fair enough. At least they have the respect to be straight with us about it. But that's the danger of announcing games too early... sometimes things don't go as planned.
I loved Dig 2. I played Heist for a bit, but it just got too repetitive. I mean not even the music changed during battles, it was the same track over and over.
@Donutman @rjejr - Younger kids like this game because it's an open world where they can go around doing silly stuff without getting killed or needing to pass levels etc. My daughter played this a lot when she was like 6-7.
If Mario Kart Tour does not somehow tie-in to a separate Switch game, I'm thinking MK9 won't happen till around 2020-2021. MK9 for Switch will happen eventually though.
MK8 already had two sets of DLC, plus the DX update. It would be a lot of investment for Nintendo to go back in and totally revamp the track menus to accommodate new tracks, and then create a whole bunch of new tracks that are purposely dumbed-down to Wii U graphic capability. I think it makes more business sense to create a new game.
Some of these look really great. Some of them you could even wear to an office... only close co-workers would be able to recognise that it's a Pokemon pattern.
Gotta watch out for Japanese/asian sizing though. If you're able to purchase it, make sure you check the measurements. Their version of L can be more like M or even S in in a western country.
VLC is an ugly POS, but it's one of the few players these days that doesn't sneak adware onto your PC. As for it supporting every movie format: so does almost every other media player for PC. The trick is finding one that doesn't have a crap looking GUI or isn't full of spyware. 🤔 Anyway, I highly doubt Nintendo will allow VLC on Switch. Direct access to files on removable storage would be a big concern for Nintendo (opens the door to exploits, backdoors, homebrew etc)
@TheFanatic - Sure, I'll go to another Nintendo news website as well. The comment system here absolutely sucks because there's no threading. FFS, switch to Disqus already.
@Jacob1092 said "You want someone to blame, blame people who click on clickbait titles."

Nintendo haven't given me a reason to return to Super Mario Run. I enjoyed it while it lasted, but once I got the special coins in all the levels, there was no reason to keep playing.
I don't get why they didn't release another set of levels to keep people coming back.
I bought Horizon, but I should've waited until there was a sale. It's got great presentation and some great music, but it just gets too repetitive.
I played a large number of tracks , but they're always a bit stressful (sudden hairpin turns, etc). I wish they had broken it up with some cruisy tracks with long turns so you can just sit back and enjoy the view and the music.
I haven't really cared for any of the music that they've released for this game. Actually a couple tracks were simply annoying. Oh well.. we'll see how the gameplay is.

Really hoping they tie in a Mario Kart update when they release Mario Kart Tour. Whether that be a new DLC for MK8 or bringing MK9.
