Re: Nintendo Apologizes for Switch Shortages, Promises an Increase in Production

Powerballad

@neufel It wouldnt suprise me if they are shipping to countries with lower sales, at least initially as the micro management required to adjust stock variances to a different region is a ball ache and also takes time to assess the numbers.
If the consoles are shipping from supplier to retailer, then in the beginning thats kind of all Nintendo would care about.

Re: Reggie Fils-Aime Dismisses Threat To Switch From Microsoft's Xbox One X

Powerballad

Nintendo could really have cannibalised both sony and microsofts market share moving forward if the switch had the grunt to play the 3rd party titles.
The reality we have is it clearly was to risky for nintendo to beef up the gpu and find a price point reggie's favourite - Consumers -would buy into.

More powerful suplimentary dock may do the trick , but i do know that shareholders like money, and they wont be content with being 2nd best, i know i wouldnt.

Re: Reggie "Can't Say" If A Cloud Save Solution Is Coming To Switch

Powerballad

Im pretty amazed to be honest that N have not spoken out about features that they 'know' the community wants.

Dont get me wrong i think they did a good job at E3, but they could have built on that by at least 'checking in' about new features such as online , vc, cloud saves etc
If it aint ready im cool, at least acknowledge if your actively developing or discussing features or theyre not going to happen.

We live in the age of information , someone tell them please...

Re: Capcom Has No Plans to Bring Monster Hunter XX for Nintendo Switch to the West

Powerballad

IMO if people are annoyed at it not getting localised for the west, DO NOT buy it from the japanese store.

What kind of a signal does that send? , dont worry , we'll make do with a pain in the backside way of playing your games digitally, and bolster the japanese stores takings so you can gloat even more about the sales and be content in your decision not to release elsewhere.

Ive never played MH lol , but this is the caveat to region free, its like a backdoor for publishers to slack.

Re: Poll: What Did You Think of Nintendo's Big Switch and 3DS Reveals at E3 on Day One?

Powerballad

Great job Nintendo , they have listened to the fans and delivered IMO.

I dont imagine they have many idle hands in their 1st party studios at the moment, and ubisoft look to have done a great job with M+R also.

I'll be watching treehouse after work today hoping for more good news, i'd like to hear something on VC or its replacement , some gameplay for Skyrim , RL etc.

And that live chat was quality, the puns were powerful.

Re: Talking Point: Five Key Areas Nintendo Must Get Right at E3 2017

Powerballad

In no particular order, Nintendo success to me looks like -

Virtual console release date,
Something free to download for switch owners,
First and 3rd party gameplay,
Massive indie lineup (microsoft did a great job imo)
Console themes and media apps.

And never gonna happen, but, to tackle xbox BC , some sort of Virtual console subscription service O_0

Re: Nintendo Kicks Off Nine Hours of Online Maintenance for Switch Ahead of E3

Powerballad

Absolutely agree with you on your take on Bloodborne , that game was special.

And as for Anthem, well, oddly i agree lol. That first scene looked very bioware with the npc issuing the mission which got me abit hyped , in a how big is this sanctuary city, i hope its properly explorable etc and then it spawned into the open world and i was instantly scepticle. It looked beautiful , and oddly , that worried me , it gave me a mass effect / destiny / division crossover vibe.
Now that of itself sounds promising, but for a company like bioware that is where it is due to its ability to craft a story, that reveal trailer seemed very, very light on dialogue i could sink my teeth into.
The world will undoubtedly look incredible , but if its worrying more about making me go oooo, aaaah than giving me a memorable experience then me and bioware have a problem lol. I have seen countless beautiful games, all vying to be the shiniest on the block, im fully ready for someone to WOW me with substance.

Congrats on your switch purchase, im sure you'll thoroughly enjoy it, it is my favourite system this gen by a long way, and i believe its achieved that while still being in a 'beta' phase.
Im hoping beyond hope that Nintendo come out with a metaphorical 21 gun salute and really deliver some excellent titles as im pretty sure they have a game changer both for them and the industry with the switch.
Microsoft went HARD this e3 and a ton of their stuff was indie titles, which shows you that it is possible to deliver compelling gaming without relying on AAA multimillion development.

Yeah i have steam, ps network , Xblive and nintendo (friendcode?) If your keen for a laugh.

Currently battering MK8D.
Also , how amazing did the new Ori game look !

Re: Nintendo Kicks Off Nine Hours of Online Maintenance for Switch Ahead of E3

Powerballad

@Ralek85 Agreed, it does raise a concern that they've been building the game for what feels like ages and didnt display any deeper mechanics to keep people farming away post launch etc.

I will be buying it for my xbone as its literally collecting dust , as im getting older (26) im enjoying fun, un serious games so much more. If thats making me more open to gambling on cartoonish games im okay with that to be honest , not that you asked lol but im fatigued with all the 'serious' games of the last few years.

P.s a button mash mechanic to reload a musket would be amazing, like poking the lead shot down in the barrel, that would make for some funny as hell 1 on 1 standoffs.

Re: Nintendo Reveals More Details About its Paid Online Service

Powerballad

@Cartune I have exactly the same issue at home. I use my mobile plan to hotspot for mario kart now.
Its annoying as my switch is technically closer to my router than my other consoles , and yet it is the only one that doesnt get a good enough signal.

On topic, im okay with that price for online, id prefer they give us virtual console at e3 then give us those games.
Also , can we please have rocket league ?

Re: Editorial: An Empty Box is $5 and a Dock is $89 - Welcome to Switchonomics

Powerballad

The pro controller is the most comfortable controller of this generations offerings imo and worth the price.

That dock price is gonna be down to the individual. If you have the need/desire to play on a tv away from home then its a worthwhile purchase if you dont need a second system.
I dont know how many switch owners this standalone dock is targeted at, my understanding was that the switch is aimed at people like me who want the flexibility of taking their console game library with them on the commute etc.
Who has time or the need to play their system across multiple tv's?

Re: Owlboy Is Coming to the Switch

Powerballad

The increasingly indie fuelled early days of the switch are proving lucrative for nintendo and indies.

If i was an indie dev i would be very interested in the demographic the switch targets and the opportunity this platform provides to people with limited resources trying to reach a wider audience.

Likewise if i was a nintendo exec Id be very happy to flood quality titles onto the system , to buy time for 1st party titles to be polished.

Re: Video: Digital Foundry Puts Thumper and ARMS to the Test on Nintendo Switch

Powerballad

Great job nintendo and the wider developer teams for both these games.

Other gaming sites i less frequently check nowadays are full of spiteful fanboys slating the switch and nintendo, yet the platforms they soapbox struggle to deliver 60fps at 1080p across the majority of their game catalogues, years after release.

I understand that some may have a wider use of things like particle effects and aliasing, but from someone who owns all of this generations systems speaking objectively, Nintendo are delivering fun AND fluid titles for this new platform early on, and i expect they will continue to as devs get their heads around the tegra chip.
