Re: Xbox Announces Next Generation Console, Will Play "Xbox And PC Games"

Powerballad

Such a seismic fall from grace for the Xbox brand over the years.
The 360 did well, and then the Xbox one and Xbox series consoles were a huge disappointment to me personally and I don’t think that I’m alone in that.
How they dropped the ball so incredibly hard is amazing considering they had Crackdown, Halo, Gears of War, Titanfall, Forza Horizon to name a few.
Will never touch another Microsoft console with a bargepole.
The only reason they now have any say in the gaming sphere is because of windows, steam user base (which they probably seriously regret not getting that digital storefront off the ground themselves) and their financial clout.

I seem to recall them constantly peddling corporate wish wash about “for the gamers” etc.
It’s all well and good saying things like that, but everyone’s wise to the fact that they hype way beyond their capacity to deliver and I think most are now aware and ignore.
They need to install some actual creative talent into senior positions so the corpo’s don’t flatline the brand.

DLSS has come a long way since its initial inception, to the huge benefit of mobile & lower power drawing chipsets.
It does require compute power to actually work its magic so I’m intrigued to see how resource efficient they can get it running on switch 2 over its lifetime.
I would also really like to see a solution that’s easy to inject into game engines that don’t support it such as Elden Ring, then we may actually see it release!

Re: Pokémon Winds & Waves Will Be Released "Exclusively" For Switch 2

Powerballad

This is the first Pokémon game in a long time I’m interested to play.
Moving to the switch 2 hardware should allow for more complex living worlds, gameplay mechanics and nicer visuals that can let the art vision shine.
It’s a shame it comes at the detriment of switch owners, but I think most people agree Z-A was a disappointment.
The wave animations stand out already.

Re: Valheim Brings A Slice Of Viking Survival To Switch 2 This Year

Powerballad

Played this to death on PC when it launched. It’s a truly excellent survival game which is significantly elevated when played with others.
If you haven’t played this you’re in for such a treat.
Still remember the first time I crafted a Viking long ship and me and two friends set sail to the next biome. Epic

Re: Borderlands 4 Switch 2 Development Paused, According To Take-Two

Powerballad

Saw this coming a mile off. And in all honesty, why not just be forthright and just announce you’ve cancelled it? Paused development, lol.
Happy to be proven wrong, but I suspect this will never see the light of day.
Played on PC and it was alright, it didn't blow my mind.
It’s a shame that it wont be available for switch 2 players who wanted it, but quite honestly, a 30fps version would have felt rough.

Re: Digital Foundry Delivers A Tech Analysis Of Assassin's Creed Shadows On Switch 2

Ubisoft take a lot of flack , and it’s fine for people to express an opinion , but they clearly are pushing their studios to factor the switch 2 into their development plans which is great imo.
I would love to see an AC collection of origins and odyssey as well as The Division 2 ported across.
Playing these again handheld on my commute , which is really my only time to game nowadays , would be epic.

Re: Video: We Put The Switch 2's Battery Through Its Paces With A Full Timelapse

Powerballad

I’ve been using mine daily on my commute.
With the battery limiter on (90% charge) ,flight mode enabled , playing Hogwarts legacy with BT headphones and between 60-80% brightness I have between 65-75% battery left after a 45 minute train journey.

I consider it acceptable, but nothing great.
It feels comparable to when I was using a steam deck and a ROG ally.

The triple AAA titles will always hit the battery harder.

Re: Motorsport Manager Speeds Onto Switch This Month

I met the developer Chris West at work in Guildford a few years ago when he just launched MM onto iPhone. Lovely guy, and he was so passionate about it asking for feedback on twitter and such.
By all accounts it looks like the game exploded in popularity.

Re: Reggie: Third-Party Gaps In Switch Game Library Linked To Timing Of System Reveal

Powerballad

Of the visible leaders of gaming companies / regions , I find Reggie one of the more irritating. Sorry if that offends anyone.

He has a great product, and stellar titles to support it , with arguably a more attractive platform for indie titles to boot. I wish he would just be open about the criticisms and provide some clarity about what Nintendo intend to do to address them, if at all.

A recent statement he made about wanting to offer a different online experience to that of his competitors is a good example. It's all well and good wanting to distinguish your services, but when your fanbase raise concerns its disappointing to see him bury his head in the sand.
