Re: Capcom Says It's Always Considering What's Next For Mega Man

Platinum-Bucket

Well can they consider it a bit faster, please?

Megaman 11 felt like it was gonna be the start of the blue bomber's bounce back, and we even got a cool collection of the old ones!... And another! And another. And another... they're awesome to have, don't get me wrong, but they're not really a substitute for an actually new game, and always felt like they should've launched in between some new ones, like how Zelda get HD remasters and remakes in between the big releases.

Really hope we see something new from Megaman soon, cuz they're running out of games to put into two-part collections

Re: Sony On Zelda Live-Action Movie: Miyamoto Has A Really "Strong" Vision

Platinum-Bucket

@N00BiSH whilst this outcome wouldn't surprise me, I feel like they won't be as heavy handed with the nostalgic distractions with this one, simply because it's live action. Doesn't seem like the type of movie where you could just slide in a reference to blowing into cartridges, nor just have 8-bit sprites scattered about. I may end up being wrong, but I've got faith that this one will be a bit more meaty than the Mario movie

Re: Random: Sakurai Takes A Stand Against CGI Game Trailers

Platinum-Bucket

@Uncle_Franklin For those:

  • We know what the game itself looks like, so there's no need for convincing right off the bat.
  • The reveal itself is what people were hyped for, and obviously, CGI can be more cinematic in order to drive the weight of the event home.

I think Sakurai is referring more to new games that haven't had gameplay shown before, especially ones that don't come from an existing series. For example, Smash Ultimate itself was revealed with a CGI cutscene, which was both for the bait and switch of the Splatoon bit, and also because we already know what smash games are like, and it already has an existing fan base.

However, if you've got a brand new, stand alone game with no prior entires, you don't have a base of known gameplay and fans to build upon, you have to start from scratch/ start making some new fans for this new thing, which is when you REALLY need gameplay shown in your reveal.

Re: Talking Point: What Are The Worst Parts Of Your Favourite Games?

Platinum-Bucket

My fav is an easy Majora's Mask. I've got next to zero issues with it, though I know others have many, but if I had to choose one, it's probably the stone tower climb. I don't even think it's that bad, but it DOES bring things to a bit of a halt... Also that it didn't have enough development time to implement everything perfectly; Feirce Deity in the overworld would've been AWESOME!!!

Re: Surprise! Nintendo Is Officially Working On A Live-Action Legend Of Zelda Movie

Platinum-Bucket

@HatesCheese It’s destined to occur, and it’ll be totally, completely original. I can see it now:

  • The young forest boy wakes up, confused, before a small fairy makes itself known, “This way, Link! We’re going to see the princess!”
  • Link sneaks into Hyrule castle, and runs into princess Zelda, who takes interest in how much Link is like her… dreams she had.
  • Later, Link and Mido have to settle their differences in the belly of Lord Jabu Jabu, and make up after their long lasting (30 minutes) rivalry.
  • After the movie ends, the credits roll, and we get a teaser of a sequel: A massive wind fish egg somehow stuck in the sewers of Brooklyn.

It’ll sell MILLIONS!

Re: Review: Bomb Rush Cyberfunk - Bleeding Cool Style But Always In Jet Set's Shadow

Platinum-Bucket

I love JSR, so this was already on my radar, but learning that it was from the same peeps that made Lethal League was super reassuring. I’d say that delivered on the goal 200%, and every change felt like an amazing one. The style is perfectly captured, and all that original Jet Set stuff his still here, as well as a whole lot more that makes it stand out to me. The different… Vehicles (?) are cool, and the fact that you can actually just walk around is a super welcome touch. The on foot parkour is SO smooth and feels like the perfect addition, and having a boost that’s easy to understand and use is mega rad. I don’t know if it was in JSR, but doing manuals to keep combos going reminded me of Ollie Ollie word, and also fits in nicely. And of course, doing all the tricks and stuff to actually get something that’s not just points out of it (boost meter) made doing sick, long combos all the more exciting. The music’s great, the style is insane, the story is sick so far, and the movement is immaculate. The only thing holding it back at the moment is some annoying glitches, like some pausing and unpausing thing that kept making my screen go white, but even then, unlike with those old JSR games, can and will be patched over time.

All in all, I’d say it’s definitely worth it for those who’ve played the originals and those who didn’t. Hell, I’d even say that it’s surpassed the original in many regards, and is easily on my GOTY list already.

Re: Bandai Namco Announces Character Pass 2 For One Piece: Pirate Warriors 4

Platinum-Bucket

@Bigbear1up Nah man I’m sticking through till the end. I just GOTTA see that Mihawk fight in glorious live action. And don’t get me wrong, I’m not complaining about it’s quality, I’d so much rather we have this whole live action thing than none at all, I just don’t expect it to be a AAA level masterpiece, and it doesn’t have to be. I’m satisfied just seeing what their take on everything is, so more power to ‘em!

Re: Bandai Namco Announces Character Pass 2 For One Piece: Pirate Warriors 4

Platinum-Bucket

@Coolmusic I expect it to be terrible, but there’s no way I’m NOT gonna watch it. It’ll be a lovely disaster to watch unfold, and if some parts are actually kinda good, I’m all for it. After all, it’s not replacing any normal OP stuff, so I just see it as a funny little side grade that won’t really impact much, and hence, I vibe with it.

Edit: Also can’t wait for more Pirate Warriors content! Wooooo for more of 4!!!

Re: Feature: Pikmin Tier List - Which Pikmin Type Is The Best?

Platinum-Bucket

I hate to be that guy, but I think there’s a clear lack of research here?! Reds do 1.5X damage, making them the best and most reliable type for combat, whilst Blues, for as much as I love them, have become less and less useful as time goes on, literally only being used for necessary progression, and never even considered for out of water combat. I saw a great video regarding the topic, called “Blue pikmin need a buff.” That goes over it quite well.

Re: Zelda: Breath Of The Wild Multiplayer Mod YouTube Videos Are Getting Copyright Strikes

Platinum-Bucket

@Scapetti That’s fair, to Nintendo, untrustworthy members of the community are definitely more worth stopping than taking chances on whomever. I can’t blame them for THAT after what some people have done, cuz yeah, the smash stage creator is a very good example…

@HeadPirate True, there’s certainly a whole lot of people overreacting on both sides, even worse so when anyone says they’re doing it “on behalf” of one party or the other, without understanding the full situation.

Re: Zelda: Breath Of The Wild Multiplayer Mod YouTube Videos Are Getting Copyright Strikes

Platinum-Bucket

@NCChris Heck yeah dude, but I don’t blame people for not understanding the full scope of what effects what in situations like this, nor how they may be similar or different from situations with much less controversy. It requires a deep dive in order to see the full extent behind things like this, and often thinking outside the apparent box. Many people don’t realize that the clear water on the surface of these situations rests atop a dark sea of circumstances

Re: Zelda: Breath Of The Wild Multiplayer Mod YouTube Videos Are Getting Copyright Strikes

Platinum-Bucket

There’s an oddly large amount of people on here against modding, which I find to be quite strange, all things considered. Games like Terraria and Rivals of Aether THRIVE off of mods, and the creators support said modders. There’s nothing unethical about it, everyone who uses the mods has already purchased the games, and the only extra profit is people buying (not pirating) the game to play said mods. They don’t pay for the mods, they pay for the game; the ones profiting are the game devs, and in turn, the modders gain well deserved publicity, which can be turned into money if they decide to go and make their own games and such. It’s a win win win scenario, no one loses anything. (Bonus point, Smash Bros. Brawl has been kept alive for YEARS because of its modding community, and everyone loves it. No one calls it disrespectful, it’s fun. It’s playable on official hardware, which actually has driven more people to buy and play it, which can then build interest to make them want to buy the modern Smash games. It’s a perfect cycle of companies giving fans a cool thing, fans adding on to that cool thing, which causes more people to become fans and buy said cool thing)

Now, on the Nintendo side of things, there isn’t much difference, outside of how Nintendo feels about it; The mods are free, and piracy is clearly noted as being advised against. This multiplayer mod in particular may even encourage many people who haven’t played the original game (perhaps because they prefer multiplayer games to single player ones) to go out and buy it. These mods don’t support pirating, anyone who would pirate the game for this purpose would have done so for any other reason, and probably already has. As for Pointcrow getting revenue from the videos… Well no crap, of course he would. Every kind of video gets revenue, what’s so different about this? You can get revenue for playing anything, like BOTW unmodded, which so many people have done. Why would it make sense for everyone to make money off of something with so little effort that it’s actually just playing a game for money, rather than one that’s actually a product of their own efforts? Like what, should I be paid for you to watch me go the museum, or should I be paid for you to watch me create my own piece of art in front of said museum? What’s more deserving, hm?

Re: Poll: Do You Want Weapon Degradation To Return In Zelda: Tears Of The Kingdom?

Platinum-Bucket

I’m kinda late on the draw here, but I found that the weapon durability was a pretty good feature considering how the game is structured around it: You see some enemies, and you decide whether the risk of losing one of your weapons is worth the chance of gaining a better one. I liked that! However, once you’ve beaten the game and are just trying to mess around, maybe doing some self made challenges (Doing all the Lynel fights in a row without healing, for example, with bonus points if you’re using the complete Fierce Deity set + sword) then the durability can become a bit of a hassle. This is especially true for the special Amiibo weapons, which are so damn cool, but I never want to use them out of fear of how annoying it’ll be to get them back again. Henceforth, I’d love it there was some post game item that would make it so that your weapons never broke, or something like that. Now that I think of it, that could have been the PERFECT reward for getting all the Korok seeds!
