Here's a fun alternative: 'Halo: Master Chief Collection Confirmed For Nintendo's New Console'.

That's clickbait. It's awful and it's entirely false. Instead, we are upfront with our usual 'Rumour' subhead followed by a factual statement based on Nate the Hate's claim. We're not confirming anything and, at this current time, there's nothing to suggest that it is definitely misinformation.

@John_Deacon Yeah we'll know for sure when Nintendo drops its latest financial update at the start of Feb, but they're both a lot lower than I would've thought.

Globally, I suspect Zelda will probably sit around the 3 million unit mark, but I'd be surprised if Brothership is anywhere close to 2 million.

@Drachma We're as fatigued as you all are, believe me. We want nothing more than for Nintendo to just announce this thing and get it over with. But the reality is that rumours will inevitably precede a reveal, and we have an obligation to report on those that we think might have an air of legitimacy.

@Anachronism Hmm, I don't know if that'll be possible, but I'll ask the question. We do try to avoid spoilers where possible (and I think we've successfully avoided giving anything away with our header and lead image here), but obviously everyone has a different idea of what constitutes a spoiler. We'll see.

Not quite sure I understand the hypothesis that these leaks are somehow harming Nintendo or killing the hype surrounding this thing. Yes, it's a shame Nintendo didn't get to reveal the Switch 2 entirely on its own terms, but it won't effect its sales. The hardcore crowd will lap it up on day one, and Nintendo will simply let the games do the talking to maintain early momentum. Like it always has.

@SabreLevant Our list is an exact replica of the data provided by GfK. Why does it omit Switch sales for The Witcher III? I don't know, but it does. We don't leave it out intentionally or otherwise.

@GrailUK Yeah, I'm just not convinced they'll announce it nearly a year before launch, as you say. I would say you're looking at a maximum of 6 months between announcement and launch.

@Friendly I did say "presumably" at the start of the article. I think it's a safe bet that it'll be out before next Christmas, but yes, I guess there is a teeny-tiny possibility it won't be.

@-wc- Ha, that's become a bit of a bugbear since I've gotten into this whole thing. I get why people say 'they' and 'are', because they're likely referring to the employees that make up the company. But the company itself is a singular entity. Hence why we say 'it', etc. We (try to) do it for all developers and publishers, not just Nintendo.

@Solomon_Rambling I can't speak for other outlets, but there are loads of genuinely great games being released on a monthly basis, so we'd rather focus our efforts on something that actually has a chance at being decent. We simply don't have the time to waste on awful games that will inevitably get lost in the crowd anyway.
