Stardew Valley Creator Still Unsure About Future Updates, Says He's Currently Focused On The "Next Game"

honestly, it's time to move on to the next game.
Stardew is filled with SO MUCH content, more than most players could ever see! And it's been packed to the gills with updates, all for free.
it's been a great run, and the game is still good. but it's time to look forward.

Eric probably just wants to do something new, which is totally understandable given how many years he’s been focused on Stardew.

Sounds like a definite no to me.

A very interesting approach. Digital updates have allowed him to expand, refine, and polish over time. As opposed to just releasing Stardew Valley 2.

I wouldn't mind a last hurrah update myself. Just finished my 2nd year and got all 4 candles lit on grandpa's shrine. I wouldn't mind more stuff to do as I start with the 1.5 stuff. Just need 200 hardwood if u know what I mean.

i'm really looking forward to his next project and how it expands the stardew universe tbh, whatever it is i'm sure it'll be great

Much as I appreciate the years of updates he's given Stardew, I'd rather have him working on something new. I'm sure he's got more to offer than "more Stardew".

I swear there's more content in this $15 game than games I've paid $60 for. Dude deserves a well-earned break.

It's rare that a game gets so much after support & care. Kudos to him! Definitely should be focusing on the next thing!

This game has had more support than most games on the market & more substantial than DS system updates too let him focus on other things

Update or not I has alot there now and a new next game is sooner or later will happen.

I would love to see a monster collecting game made by concerned ape, just saying

I hope he doesn't go the way of Minecraft's original developer, where eventually he just sells off the game to some big name studio and it get's pumped full of paid DLC and the modding community slowly but sure shut down.

@Heavyarms55 The Minecraft modding community is shutting down? I'm having a hard time believing that, but maybe you know more than i do (i'm not into the Minecraft modding scene, so i'm genuinely curious where you're coming from)

I guess this is good news? I recently picked up Stardew Valley on sale, have yet to even make it to the title screen. Heard a lot of great things about this game , been hearing it for years. Sounds like the community is still quite active. Looking forward to trying this game out eventually…

I thought everyone know they were working on Witchbrook game for several years now.

Animal crossing could take a page out of stardews book. It’s been a great run.

So is Stardew Valley finally finished? I've been waiting to play I as I'll only get one play through realistically so I don't want to miss some additional stuff that was added after.

@StefanN It's not shutting down so much as it's being squeezed into a corner. There was a time when mods were one of the biggest aspects of the game. But MS has pulled the focus away from that with the bedrock version and it's paid DLCs.

It's a shame that it looks like they'll be no new updates, but he's been working on this game for years so I understand his decision. Whatever happens, I will 100% be interested in what he does next.

I'm intrigued to see what game he makes next.
I love Stardew, one of the best games that I've ever played (and still do play). If his next game is even half as awesome as Stardew, then we're in for a treat! I'm sure it will be amazing!

The guy spent most of his adult life working on this game. I can understand why he wants to move on.
