This whole process was utter crap! I waited more than 4 hours from 10am pst to 2pm pst and when I finally got in it told me it was out of stock so I couldn't get one despite fact that I had one in my cart. I am beyond frustrated with the idiots at Nintendo who thought that making this limited edition exclusive to their site was a great idea.

Congrats scalpers, you win this one! I'll be seeing you soon

Edit: After trying again yesterday following some other people posting about checking the cart again I was miraculously able to pre order one successfully. My point still stands that this is absolutely one of the worst pre order experiences I've ever had! This was terrible

I am still playing AC New Horizons! About to finally unlock landscaping so the real fun is about to start. I also finally started playing Sayonara Wild Hearts. Great game but a bit on the short side and unfortunately a bit of style over substance. Definitely recommend but maybe at a slight sale (around $10)

Re: Feature: Best Nintendo Switch Short Games

Disagree with Gone Home, Firewatch, and Limbo as these were all games that I ultimately found to be disappointing for one reason or another. (GH for it's lack luster gameplay and narrative, Limbo for being a dull and uninteresting slog, and Firewatch for its ending). Still solid list otherwise.

Re: Review: Super Crush KO - The Only Issue With This Superb Side-Scrolling Brawler Is Longevity

How short is short? Are we talking closer to Sayonara Wild Hearts & Donut County ( both sub 2hr) or are talking something closer to Bastion and Transistor (around 3-5 hrs)?

Edit: According to the sixthaxis there are about 20 levels that take around 5-10 minutes to beat so overall playtime is looking to be around 2-3 hours. Wish Nintendolife would have put the playtime in the review.

@Heavyarms55 I definitely think you have a point about variety online personalities. It seems like people who cover multiple games will have slower growth in the beginning but in the long term will have an easier time sustaining themselves than the people focusing on just one game. (The hot new game fades in and out and I feel like it's a bad idea to put all your eggs into one basket)

Re: Rayark Announces Sequel To Its Fantastic Rhythm Game Deemo

@Yosher If you don't mind fanservice I'd highly recommend Muse Dash. Very simple rhythm game (2 buttons) with a ton of great songs and a deceptive difficulty. It gets updated with free music packs quite often and it's around $30. It's probably one of my favorite rhythm games on the switch

I also have some issues with this review. I fail to see how a lack of Switch exclusive features is bad. It's a port and it feels like a weird criticism to have now especially when other ports aren't marked down for the same thing. Also disappointing to see no mention of the lack of voice acting in story mode despite every other version of 2nd encore having fully voiced story mode.

Re: Here Are The Top Ten Best-Selling Nintendo Switch Games As Of September 2019

I'm very surprised at how well Smash Ultimate is selling. It's a fantastic smash game but I didn't expect it to outsell Brawl by this much this quickly with a smaller install base.

@judaspete Yeah I definitely agree about Arms needing a price cut. I got the game for about $40 used and thought that was fair. At $60 it just lacks enough content to justify that price point especially in comparison to 1st party titles like Splatoon 2, Super Mario Maker 2, BotW, Smash Ultimate, etc.

Re: Talking Point: What Are You Playing This Weekend? (October 26th)

For me my copy of River City Girls came in from Limited Run Games. I'll be playing that for a bit. (Annoyingly I found a typo on the box in which they forgot the o in Kunio in the description. I know it's so minor but to pay ~$40 and wait almost 2 months since the game came out for there to be a typo as well as being unable to register the game to my Nintendo is a bit disappointing)

I'll also play for Fight'n Rage in order to compare which one is better. Lastly I'll try to finish Ape Out and Check out the new songs added to Muse Dash.

I'm also embarrassed about never touching minecraft. I have a pc, 3ds, wii u , and switch as well as an xbone and have never really been tempted to play the game. I know it will go down in the history books as one of the most significant games of all time and even though I was in the age demographic when it first launched back in '09 (I was 14 at the time) I just didn't have any interest in playing it. Maybe I'll try it one day.

Re: Devs Make Big Bucks On The Switch eShop By Drastically Reducing Game Prices

Oat

I'm going to echo a lot of the previously made comments by saying I'm not a huge fan of this race to the bottom. I've suspected that this was the case for months but it's nice to hear it outright confirmed that this was the case. Truth be told I'm actually far less likely to buy a lot of these games that drop into the sub $1 range on a sale because it genuinely makes me question why the dev charged the initial game at that higher price point if they're essentially going to give the game away for next to nothing at a later date.

In the long run it largely hurts the value of these games because consumers will eventually catch on. "Why buy day 1 when it'll be 97 cents in a few months to a year?" I know it's working out fine in the short term but in the long term it will just encourage more low effort games to flood the eshop.

I feel like Nintendo could fix a lot of these issues by having indie specific categories like they did on the wii u and 3ds eshops. Making it easier to find these titles outside of the limited space of the best sellers and featured lists would largely solve this issue.

Re: Soapbox: Why Sword And Shield's Pokémon Purge Will Benefit Everyone

Yeah this is a bad take Nintendolife, and this is coming from someone who doesn't even mind the limiting to regional dex only. (I gave up on catching them all a long time ago). I genuinely understand the frustration from long time fans. These issues can be resolved in GF were to delay the game and hire more people but we all know that they wont.
