@SLIGEACH_EIRE I can understand some of your frustration but truth be told I'm all for prices being lowered on wii u games. It makes them easier and cheaper to purchase. I've managed to get some great deals on wii u games due to the lack of interest in the system.
@RetroGamerAndrew Cool, I already have a few of those like Jamestown as well as Ikaruga. I'll check out the other games you listed, most likely starting with DoDonPachi when it goes on sale. Thanks for the reply
@RetroGamerAndrew hey could you recommend me some good shmups on steam? I tried looking through all of the shoot em up tags on steam but there's some 20+ pgs of shumps with most of them being released in the last 3 years. There really is an overcrowding problem when ~75% of all steam shumps were released in the last 3 years.
@Saturn_Firefly The issue is most likely fans continually asking even after they've stated multiple times that MH World isn't coming to the Switch. I'd get kind of annoyed if people kept asking me for stuff that I had repeatedly told them wasn't coming. It's the same thing when people kept asking platinum games for a bayo 2 port to ps4/xbone even though they repeatedly explained why that wasn't possible.
@Dezzy Game development is more complicated. As Kamiya said, platinum is a studio that makes games by making contracts with publisher (most devs are). They need the external funding in order to make games. P* games have never sold all that amazingly well despite their quality. Nier Automata is owned by Square enix but was developed by p* similar to how metal gear rising is owned by konami and star fox zero is owned by Nintendo despite both being platinum developed titles.
Good on Nintendo for funding Bayo 3 and big ups to Sega to approving the go ahead on the development. I'm glad Kamiya explained who owns the rights to the bayo series because i was always somewhat confused by that.
@ekwcll I know phones are hella expensive, but I'm also of the mindset that people shouldn't be wasting money on getting a new phone every year. I still think $300 for a portable game console is expensive. Even Nintendo knows this, hence why they continue to market the 3ds as the budget option
I'm very happy image & form is deciding to bring sw dig 2 to the 3ds. I don't have a switch yet so I'm glad I can finally be able to play this game, especially on a portable system that I own.
I'm also hoping that this proves that it's still more than financially viable to release indies on the 3ds instead of just making blanket statements about the 3ds market is dead.
It seems alright to me. It's that $20 price point that's putting me off. I really wish that less indies would price their games at $20. I dislike how that's become the new standard indie price for some
There's a lot of blind optimism on miyamotos part. The reson why everyone has a phone is because it can be used for more than just gaming. As nice as it sounds, a future in which everyone owned a switch, especially at a $300 price point with no account system for your purchases is highly unlikely. Miyamoto need to lay off of the super mushrooms
@Dom There's a typo on the price for Radiant Historia Perfect Chronology. It should be $40 not $50. I've already seen it confuse quite a few people in the comments of this week's Nintendo download.
@rjejr @Crono1973 @TheLZdragon @smelly_jr @Knuckles @bezerker99 It's a typo on Nintendolife's part. The game is $40 not $50. For a second even I was worried that Atlus jacked up the price at the last minute.
I am very much with you all about how crappy the price hikes have been as of late. For me personally I almost never buy an Atlus game with that $10 Atlus tax on it at launch.
I felt as though this was a long time coming. I love the Sakurai directed smash games (he's been doing great so far imo) but purely from a health standpoint I feel him stepping down from the director role was inevitable. Now I'm curious who they'll get to direct the next smash bros.
@DarkKirby This made me laugh way more than it should have. Still it is kinda surprising and hilarious that DBFZ is taking MvCi's spot at evo this year
@Einherjar I personally never found Great Cave Offensive to be too much trouble to complete solo. It's only a handful of chests that you need a partner and I'm talking bout 3-4 tops. I do feel you on Amazing Mirror. I replayed it back in 2014 after not playing it since I was a kid. My god I never realized how utterly incompetent the ai is in that game. It gets even more frustrating because there are chests in which you need the other kirbys to work with you and they straight up just run around like chickens without their heads.
@PlywoodStick the only bit of dlc I'm salty about is the classic portraits. I never asked for new character art (the old one was perfect as it was) yet atlus changes the art and now I have to pay to get the characters looking like how they were originally drawn
@Galenmereth yeah I feel you on the art. The old art was done by the artist who did the Radiata Stories characters while the new art is surprisingly done by the same artist who did character designs for castlevania order of ecclasia. I unfortunately feel as though the new art doesn't really mesh well with the vibe of the story at all. I feel like the new artist, while talented, didn't really know how to adapt the original character designs without making them look like generic anime
@MarcelRguez "More Mario Kart. Less Fire Emblem" For real I wish I could upvote you twice. I'm still salty that Nintendo and Intelligent Systems had the balls to think that Fire Emblem Echoes joke of a season pass was worth it's asking price. That dlc clearly does not amount to a full games worth of content yet they have the gall to price it at $45, more than the price of the freaking game
Truth be told I think Jools gets far too much attention on NLife. His games are mediocre at best imo. I'd rather hear more interviews with Image & Form or Hörberg Productions (the people who made the gunman clive games)
Nah these deals are terrible, especially that zip lash deal. You can regularly find the game for under $7. Heck I tried to trade in that terrible game at gamestop and even they wouldn't take it. If spending 90 gold coins for a 40 percent discount on a $30 game that isn't even worth $5 isn't considered a rip off then I don't know what is.
@idrawrobots Agreed 100% I would also like to argue that Kirby Nightmare in Dreamland is better than Kirby Amazing Mirror. Amazing mirror is a longer game with some more interesting ideas and bosses but Nightmare in Dreamland is the tighter more polished experience.
This game (tacky fan service aside) doesn't look bad. What bugs me is why not just port kof xiv? No one would be mad about that at all. I don't get the logic of bringing this game to the switch when it very obviously runs on the same engine as kof xiv when they could have just brought over kof xiv
I can't wait for this game! I'm beyond happy that they're finally bringing back ability mixing! Kirby is my all time favorite gaming franchise!
@JohnnyC Like others have mentioned most kirby games are great, especially Kirby Super Star (and more specifically Super Star Ultra). I would have to recommend the 3 most recent games as well Return to Dreamland is the weakest out of Triple Deluxe and Planet Robobot imo. I would put it like this Planet Robobot > Triple Deluxe > Return to Dreamland. Lastly on Epic yarn, it's more of a spin off title. It really isn't indicative of what the mainline games play like most of the time.
There's a typo in the review "In fullAassist mode, you'll basically tear..." just wanted to point that out. Lastly I'll definitely have to check this game out. Dunkey's review along with the high scores and some 10/10s really made me interested in trying this game.
It's a personal pass from me. I found xeodrifter to have a lot of nagging flaws. The controls felt kind of stiff and the combat/movement took far too many upgrades to start feeling actually good to play with. In addition despite being such a short game, the back tracking gets very tedious. Lastly I do not agree with the decision to only have 1 boss at all. I probably guess that it was assumed that adding different stages to the boss each time would make it feel different enough but it still ends up being a far too similar fight each time.
@imageform I can't wait to see what you have in store! I loved dig 1 as well as heist. I haven't gotten dig 2 yet as I don't have a switch yet . Still it'll be one of the first games I pick up when I do get one. (Or I could always get it on pc but I'll miss out on the portability. Ah decisions! ). Truth be told I find dig to be a better and more interesting metroidvania than samus returns
@thesilverbrick I'm just as surprised that this lasted this long. It seemed like the novelty of the concept wore off in the months immediately following its release. It just seemed like a new Mii Maker with some lite social elements that got old real quick. It shocks me that it took them 2+ years to kill this thing.
I know this isn't new but it's still kind of disappointing to hear. I mean unpopular opinion here, but 6 months worth of updates is not nearly enough for a fighting game. If first person shooters are regularly supported for at least a year and games that initially tanked like Street Fighter V get new revisions like Arcade Edition as well as continued major additions like new characters more than 2 years on, it's a bit hard for me to feel like 6 months worth of Arms updates was enough. I would have liked to see more game modes added before they stopped the major updates.
Edit: In addition games like Smash for Wii U continued to get major additions more than a year and a half after the game launched. That further drives home why I feel that 6 months of major updates is disappointing.
@Robotron2084 yeah I'd definitely recommend the game. It's dirt cheap as well, only costing $3 on pc and ios. It's an incredibly fun game and honest provides more fun than games that cost 3 to 5 times as much
I'm glad the Switch has outpaced the wii u so we can finally stop talking about the crappy wii u. I like the games on the system but it was easily my least favorite console bar none. Slow OS, nonexistent 3rd party support, muti month long game droughts, spotty online, the list goes on. I'm more than happy to move on from this system. With that said, I'll still keep my wii u as there's a few games that probably will never get ported to the Switch like Kirby Rainbow Curse.
My Nintendo is freaking trash It's basically a way for Nintendo to get their customers to pay for the "luxury" of pitiful discounts on games you most likely already own. #RipClubNintendo
I'm definitely surprised by some of the games and placements. It's a bit irksome to see senran kagura so high on the jp list but I'm honestly more surprised at the gulf in placement for sonic mania. It's 22 in Japan in west it's right near the top.
@rosemo you hit the nail right on the head with that. Not everyone wants or can afford a switch at the moment. Those 750 k in sales suggests that Nintendo isn't quite done with the 3ds which is mostly fine by me. I just wish that ther were some better first party games for the 3ds planned for this year. It seems like Nintendo is most likely winding down first party support
