Re: Japan Is More Excited About Nintendo Labo Than God Of War

Oat

@patbacknitro18 I'm so conflicted on Star Allies. I absolutely adore all the fanservice in this game and I actually agree that it's a wonderful love letter to the series, the likes we haven't seen since the anniversary collection. With that said I'm disappointed in a lot of aspects. Only having puzzle pieces as the collectible is disappointing as there's very little challenge involved with getting all of them. They feel like they would have better served as a secondary collectible like the keychains in triple deluxe or the stickers in robobot. The game is painfully easy even for a kirby game and usually that's not much of a deal breaker for me. (Kirby is my favorite platforming series of all time). My issue with it this time is that the arena feels like a step back from prior games. There's no ex bosses to be found at all and it's a lot easier than prior arenas even on the hardest difficulty. Like for me Star Allies is a decent game but I feel like Hal has done better in the past and can do better than this, despite how much fun it is.

It's so hard to believe that the same devs behin Megaman Zero, Azure Striker Gunvolt, and Blaster Master Zero made this series.

Re: Shovel Knight Just Crossed Two Million Units Sold

Oat

@SwitchVogel That's the part that stood out to me as well. Even though I benefit from it as a fan and someone who bought the game, the moment they announced that every single future campaign was going to be free I couldn't help but feel like they were blowing a lot of money for very little in return.

Re: Iconoclasts Is Coming To The Switch Later This Year

Oat

Day one for me baby! I've been waiting for this game for over 8 years! It's been such a long time in development and I'm more than excited to play this on switch. Like others I opted out of the pc release in order to wait for a switch version. In addition I hope this game sells better on switch because on pc it's sold around 20k units which is alright but I feel like for a game with this much polish and such a long development time it should be selling more.

Re: Treasure Teases Both Ikaruga And Nintendo Switch Fans

Oat

I would personally love to see Treasure bring some of their other titles to the Switch. I really want to play Radiant Silvergun and especially Guardian Heroes as I've never had the chance to play either and I don't want to have to buy a 360 to do so legallly

Re: Talking Point: What Are You Playing This Weekend?

Oat

@KingdomHeartsFan what's your favorite kh game. It's a tie for me between 2 and bbs though in terms of narrative I actually like chain of memories the most. (I'm also one of the few people who actually like the card combat system)

Re: Talking Point: What Are You Playing This Weekend?

For me it'll be Celeste and possibly splatoon 2 since I recently got a switch. Celeste controls perfectly and the level design is amazing. I'm hoping to join up in the splatfest this weekend. I missed splatfests in splatoon 1 since I got that game in late 2016 so I want to experience what it's like to participate in one

Re: Tactical JRPG Regalia: Of Men and Monarchs - Royal Edition Secures April Switch Release

Oat

@Heavyarms55 I completely agree. I tried reading polygon's "review" of Radiant Historia and the author only liked the game because he could skip the battles and just get the story. At that point I essentially stopped reading the review because it seems like they really didn't like the game. If you don't like the game aspect of a freaking video game then you probably don't like the game all that much now do you.

Re: Review: The Alliance Alive (3DS)

Oat

@smelly_jr Yeah I definitely feel like it's a bit of busy work. I personally didn't mind it that much. I thought that it gave the world a pop-up book feeling, like one of those books you used to read as a kid. I completely understand why others wouldn't like it.

It's a solid rpg. The music is fantastic and the gameplay is very fun. With that said it's also incredibly light on story so if you're looking for more of a narrative I might get The Alliance Alive instead. These two games basically have the same combat system. In addition the retreat system is handled much better in Alliance Alive.

One last thing. Get used to the game not really explaining it's mechanics, especially in Legend of Legacy. Even after reading through the digital manual there are still a bunch of mechanics that the game wont explicitly explain to you. It does provide a nice sense of discovery but it can also be a bit annoying.

Hope that helped.

Re: Review: The Alliance Alive (3DS)

Oat

I'm glad they listened to the complaints from Legend of Legacy. The first game could have been a outright classic but it was held back by issues such as an annoying escape system, poor/near non-existent story, and a lack of character and progression. This game seems to fix all those issues. I have it preordered and will be picking it up tomorrow. Can't wait!

Re: Nintendo Download: 22nd March (North America)

Oat

@thesilverbrick I actually have more or less the same problems as you with jrpgs. They're my favorite genre but a lot of jrpgs are way too long for their own good. A lot of them drag their feet in terms of pacing and even ones I like (ie Xenoblade) feel like they're unnecessarily complicated.

And I find myself playing the 3ds all the time. Truth be told there were times where I'd get kinda irked by you always asking for the 3ds to be retired. I guess it just came from me loving my 3ds so much and me constantly playing it 7 years after launch. It's such a convenient and fantastic system and I just love how it's getting support still even if it's minimal at best. I do hope that you enjoy Fantasy Life. It's such a fun game. Also let me know if you want to chat sometime. You seem like a very good person.

Re: Nintendo Download: 22nd March (North America)

Oat

@thesilverbrick I could recommend you some if you're interested. If you like easy going action rpgs I would recommend Fantasy Life or Ever Oasis. If you wanna try some strategy rpgs I would definitely recommend Fire Emblem Echoes or Awakening

Re: Lumines Finally Brings Its Light And Sound To Switch In Lumines Remastered

Oat

I'm beyond excited for this! This was the only game from the direct that had me excited. I love Lumines. It's one of my favorite puzzle games of all time and I personally think that it rivals tetris as the best falling block puzzle game if all time. This game can suck hours of your time and the music is phenomenal. I loved it back on the psp and ps2

@PhilKenSebben Lumines is also on ios as well
