@patbacknitro18 I'm so conflicted on Star Allies. I absolutely adore all the fanservice in this game and I actually agree that it's a wonderful love letter to the series, the likes we haven't seen since the anniversary collection. With that said I'm disappointed in a lot of aspects. Only having puzzle pieces as the collectible is disappointing as there's very little challenge involved with getting all of them. They feel like they would have better served as a secondary collectible like the keychains in triple deluxe or the stickers in robobot. The game is painfully easy even for a kirby game and usually that's not much of a deal breaker for me. (Kirby is my favorite platforming series of all time). My issue with it this time is that the arena feels like a step back from prior games. There's no ex bosses to be found at all and it's a lot easier than prior arenas even on the hardest difficulty. Like for me Star Allies is a decent game but I feel like Hal has done better in the past and can do better than this, despite how much fun it is.
@ogo79 Oh my god! How have I not heard of this before now!? ogo79 coming in with the christmas presents all the way in April. Thanks a bunch for showing me this
I'm more surprised at how consistently well Kirby Star Allies is doing. It seems to be a very popular kirby game despite it being far from the best out of the most recent entries imo.
@ogo79 Oh I meant like I wish more devs would make new beat em ups ala final fight and streets of rage. Streets of red is great but I want more indies to take a crack at the beat em up genre
@ogo79 Hey could you name your top 20 beat em ups of all time? (or 10 if you can't name 20) I read on another thread that you're a beat em up expert on this site and I wanted some good recommendations
Solid game but I definitely agree about the visuals and music. The color palette is a bit stale and the music is pretty forgettable. Other than that it's a good beat em up for under $8
@SwitchVogel That's the part that stood out to me as well. Even though I benefit from it as a fan and someone who bought the game, the moment they announced that every single future campaign was going to be free I couldn't help but feel like they were blowing a lot of money for very little in return.
Why pick Dreamland 1 over 2? I love both games but 2 has animal friends, more involved stages, copy abilities, as well as marking the start of the dark matter trilogy
I had to buy Star Allies on Ebay after trying unsuccessfully to buy a copy at all my local stores and on amazon as well (ppl were selling it at $63.50 on amazon). Luckilyy I actually saved a bit of money as I paid $55 for the game with free shipping
Day one for me baby! I've been waiting for this game for over 8 years! It's been such a long time in development and I'm more than excited to play this on switch. Like others I opted out of the pc release in order to wait for a switch version. In addition I hope this game sells better on switch because on pc it's sold around 20k units which is alright but I feel like for a game with this much polish and such a long development time it should be selling more.
What I really don't understand is that if they wanted to release a version of this game asap on a Nintendo platform in the west, why not localize the 3ds version? It makes no sense to me at all
I would personally love to see Treasure bring some of their other titles to the Switch. I really want to play Radiant Silvergun and especially Guardian Heroes as I've never had the chance to play either and I don't want to have to buy a 360 to do so legallly
@Dualmask if it helps think of it like this. At $25 you're getting 4 full length games. That averages to $6.25 per title. In comparison buying 4 metal slug games on switch comes out to $32 ($24 If you buy 1,x, and 3 since ; is an improved version of 2)
@KingdomHeartsFan what's your favorite kh game. It's a tie for me between 2 and bbs though in terms of narrative I actually like chain of memories the most. (I'm also one of the few people who actually like the card combat system)
For me it'll be Celeste and possibly splatoon 2 since I recently got a switch. Celeste controls perfectly and the level design is amazing. I'm hoping to join up in the splatfest this weekend. I missed splatfests in splatoon 1 since I got that game in late 2016 so I want to experience what it's like to participate in one
I'm getting a switch by friday so I'll participate. Like others have said, I think they should have gone with baseball vs American footbal or basketball. I would have gone with basketball
@Heavyarms55 I completely agree. I tried reading polygon's "review" of Radiant Historia and the author only liked the game because he could skip the battles and just get the story. At that point I essentially stopped reading the review because it seems like they really didn't like the game. If you don't like the game aspect of a freaking video game then you probably don't like the game all that much now do you.
Can't wait for the single player expansion. I will say that the octoling boy looks terrible. It looks like an afterthought much like the inkling boy in splatoon 1. It's very obvious which design got more attention.
@smelly_jr Yeah I definitely feel like it's a bit of busy work. I personally didn't mind it that much. I thought that it gave the world a pop-up book feeling, like one of those books you used to read as a kid. I completely understand why others wouldn't like it.
It's a solid rpg. The music is fantastic and the gameplay is very fun. With that said it's also incredibly light on story so if you're looking for more of a narrative I might get The Alliance Alive instead. These two games basically have the same combat system. In addition the retreat system is handled much better in Alliance Alive.
One last thing. Get used to the game not really explaining it's mechanics, especially in Legend of Legacy. Even after reading through the digital manual there are still a bunch of mechanics that the game wont explicitly explain to you. It does provide a nice sense of discovery but it can also be a bit annoying.
I'm glad they listened to the complaints from Legend of Legacy. The first game could have been a outright classic but it was held back by issues such as an annoying escape system, poor/near non-existent story, and a lack of character and progression. This game seems to fix all those issues. I have it preordered and will be picking it up tomorrow. Can't wait!
It'll be interesting to see how Nintendo handles Wario Land after a decade of absence. It woulf be nice to get another hand-drawn Wario Land game but the last one was pretty expensive to make due to those same animations (plus it was done by production ig which most likely wasn't cheap)
Mighty switch force 1&2 on the 3ds Those 2 titles aren't that long and have both been in my backlog for literal years. I just want some short and quick games to play
@thesilverbrick I actually have more or less the same problems as you with jrpgs. They're my favorite genre but a lot of jrpgs are way too long for their own good. A lot of them drag their feet in terms of pacing and even ones I like (ie Xenoblade) feel like they're unnecessarily complicated.
And I find myself playing the 3ds all the time. Truth be told there were times where I'd get kinda irked by you always asking for the 3ds to be retired. I guess it just came from me loving my 3ds so much and me constantly playing it 7 years after launch. It's such a convenient and fantastic system and I just love how it's getting support still even if it's minimal at best. I do hope that you enjoy Fantasy Life. It's such a fun game. Also let me know if you want to chat sometime. You seem like a very good person.
@thesilverbrick I could recommend you some if you're interested. If you like easy going action rpgs I would recommend Fantasy Life or Ever Oasis. If you wanna try some strategy rpgs I would definitely recommend Fire Emblem Echoes or Awakening
I'm beyond excited for this! This was the only game from the direct that had me excited. I love Lumines. It's one of my favorite puzzle games of all time and I personally think that it rivals tetris as the best falling block puzzle game if all time. This game can suck hours of your time and the music is phenomenal. I loved it back on the psp and ps2

Re: Talking Point: What Are You Playing This Weekend?
Kirby Star Allies baby! Finally got the game and despite how it's a step back for the series in some regards, I'm having so much fun with it.

It's so hard to believe that the same devs behin Megaman Zero, Azure Striker Gunvolt, and Blaster Master Zero made this series.

Re: Video: Check Out The Reveal Trailer For Squadron 51, An Extremely Retro Shmup
I really do appreciate these devs doing something different in the stg genre. It's refreshing in a genre that feels like it's stagnating a bit
